Is beckoning her

Her hips sway with confidence

As she stands on the striking tape

She waits for velvet sheets to part

Presenting her to the sea of people

Waiting for a show

Her role is a cosmic one

Her words will leave them hanging

And gasping

And crying

She is the talent the world has been waiting for

The curtains pull back

Her opening lines rest at her tongue

Crouched at the ready

And she wakes up.

It is such a shame that you are afraid to be loved.

To be a Girl

Goddesses have been molded in our shape

powerful and respected

and yet we are not afforded to same level

of reverence given to objects made to imitate us

we are so grossly hated that everything we do has become laughable

ripped jeans and pink drinks

dyed hair and bold lips

denim jackets

we wear as armor, are reduced

to our latest flimsy trend.

either we’re ugly

because we wear no makeup

or we are lying

because we do.

we are either a slut,

we may have inspired goddesses
