There is something so bittersweet about returning to older fandoms for me now. It's like returning home, but the home needs a good sweeping and no one has tended to the garden in a long time.

It's still warm and cozy, despite the subtle draft that now whistles through. Everything is still in place, just with a soft blanket of dust. The pictures of everyone are still hung up, though they no longer provide an accurate reference of the people in them.

It's okay, but it's different from when you first experienced or enjoyed that piece of media. Sort of a graveyard of hyperfixations, but you know it will be alright because a few people still occasionally stop by and leave flowers.

Despite it being 2026, we still haven't gone woke enough if shit like Heated Rivalry is lapping up all the attention that should be given to queer media that encapsulates intersectional identities like race, ethnicity, disability, gender identity, etc. Where's the non-white/black rep, the wlw rep, the trans/t4t rep, the aroace/aspec, the disabled rep. You shouldn't have to dig for any of this rep if we give more love and attention to these groups of people who rightfully deserve to have a crumb of representation. Representation should not be a commodity for us!!!

i got sick today, the second day of pride month, and instead of believing its punishment for being queer, im pretending its me carrying the weight of every queer persons problems a la atlas holding the world style so everyone has a good pride month this year. i dont know i think coping with feeling ill in this way is positive affirmation for myself

i dont care that cinemasins is "satire", they do such a shitty job at it that they incidentally created a whole group of people who doesnt understand film and art and dismisses it as "not that deep" or hard to analyze critically. you know, the group they were trying to make fun of because they dont understand their own satire

a lot of these people blame others for "not understanding" that its satire but even when you do try to see it for what it is, it genuinely sucks. not just because they partially caused the movement of anti-intellectualism, but also theres not enough of a base to go off of. take something like the onion, who bases their fake news headlines/articles on extreme exaggerations of stuff that is actually being shown on news websites/articles. unless theres a really infamous review of a movie or common dumb points reviews say that a video can use as a starting point for the satire, it doesnt really work. also, the character in cinemasins is basically just jeremy, lmao. its one thing if it was a character that was completely detached from jeremy, but it is just him! also the sins as jokes arent funny. how many times do we need to hear about this supposed college ex-girlfriend before i begin to question if jeremy has ever been in a relationship

hot????? take but while Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is pretty fun, i feel like people REALLY overhyped the customization aspect of the game

some things that i wasnt expecting/lowkey nitpicked as i played through the game are

some hairstyles are a bit harder to get accurate to who youre making (sometimes its better to go bangs + back than a premade style) and some styles i feel like should be a thing (like miku's pigtails) arent really a thing. i also thing you should be able to toggle a short/medium/long hairstyle if you dont want to make a whole separate one (since there are toggable things like bang direction and ability to make pigtails/buns from some styles)

the face paint aspect of it makes me have to tweak every other edit i make because of how off it is, as well as the little preview window being so late to register changes (i scribbled all over the face of the mii just to get its attention but now i just move the part im drawing and it does the trick. REALLY not ideal). i partly blame myself since im emulating the game (sorry not sorry but i will not pay however a switch costs + $60 just for one game) and maybe thats causing some issues, but i havent found anything that has to do with these specific problems and instead just game crashes due to the face paint (which fortunately hasnt happened to me)

appreciation for allowed a color wheel for the face paint but dont like that theres none for the other customization windows and we have to rely on set (random but i made messmer and hes not purple enough. he was purple for an AMAZING reason and i had to layer blush on his face to get it as close as possible). this can also be a part of how accurate you can get realistic skin tones (i was able to find mine but i rather there be a slider).

special list of things that arent a thing that im shocked arent since ive thought of so many while making tags: vitiligo, heterochromia (or just having/editing one eye, facial scars, piercings?, i can edit in more if i think of anything else

more ability to add more things like wrinkles and blush/makeup instead of just one

on one hand, these arent make-or-break complaints of the customization (i have only played for 2 days so i havent seen everything regarding clothing and rooms and such), but on the other, for a 60 dollar game its a *little* bit lackluster and its fun to bully big corporations that dont give the people what they want.

unless i had expectations that were too high, having a creativity drought, people were overhyping certain things, or nintendo sucks and needs to make an update/dlc NOWW!!!!!!

I swear to God DMVs would intentionally nitpick things you did while doing your driving test ("you did a 3 point turn but you went onto the grass a little so you failed" or "you made a turn and got onto a road between a passing car and an upcoming car that had a reasonable gap between them so you failed") so they don't have to deal with more people. Maybe if they just did their jobs without being an asshole people wouldn't wish all DMV workers would go to hell
