TOM GLYNN CARNEY as MALACHY GRANGER THE JETTY (2024) ↳01x01
the disrespect tom glynn-carney as an actor and aegon as a character have to endure — i am just angry tbh.
not only did tgc try to not have his character be a rapist, because he knew exactly that many viewers would never view him as anything else, and he was written that way so that everyone would despise him, in favor of more cherished characters.
no, important and very strong scenes, especially after b&c — not even talking about aegon’s dynamic with helaena, and moments with his children which were not even planned to explore by those writers because they hate him — got cut. they would have shown aegon’s rage and pain, as well as tgc’s abilities as an actor. they got cut, yet we got a billion hours of daemon at harrenhal. unnecessary romance and unnecessary sex scenes.
what’s most important, however, is that tgc STILL gave the performance of a lifetime. he was supposed to be a lead character, rhaenyra’s opponent, yet he got less screen time than daemon.
tom was able to give a character that was humiliated, and stripped of his abilities and strengths DEPTH.
so please look at this and tell me that any other cast member deserved an award nomination more than he did.
yeah i thought so
Love that! You've said it perfectly 👌
Imagine being an actor, go beyond your limits, putting all of you in the scene, and it gets cut down. And you won't be even nominated for Emmy, even though you are the best thing in the whole season. You did something that not every actor can – made an unlikable character into something real and raw, even though writers butchered your character with every single decision.
I can't imagine it either.
The disrespect production has for TGC and Aegon is vile Tom fought Hess on not making Aegon a r*pist but was obviously ignored, him and Phia had to fight for the nursery scene in episode one of S2 because the only interaction bar that was them meeting on the stairs after B&C I’m sorry you have a married couple and they barely interact? And now we find out that Aegon’s reaction to his son’s death has been cut
I know the favouritism was already there in S1 by making the greens vs blacks bad vs good, which is stupid this is a inter family war none of them are good. Like a lot of plot points of other characters from the books was given to Rhaenyra because of this favouritism and its very much biting them in the arse. Hopefully he gets nominated for BAFTAs because Tom literally carried S2 and deserves awards for it
For all TB fans saying "Rhaenyra wouldn't kill children." Your legit wrong.
She didn't care that Jaehaerys died in the books only that it made her look bad, and she felt bad for Helaena nothing else. She put a price on Jaehaera and Maelors heads, yes a 6 and 2 year old were sentenced to die cause she didn't want any chance of her losing the throne. When people did find Maelor they cut him in pieces and handed him piece by piece to Rhaenyra and she paid them for their "work".
Also she's not the feminist you think she is, she legit would tell woman asking if they could inherit there families seats "a son comes before a daughter." So why the hell should Rhaenyra be any different? Why does she get the throne if a son comes before a daughter?
You all really hold her on this pedestal that isn't even hers, she's not a Child loving kind queen, she's not a feminist girl boss queen. She's a cruel queen, so much so she was called "Rhaenyra the Cruel." And "Maegor with teats." You know how much bad and cruel shit you got to do to be called those things? Too much for you TBs to be comfortable with.
THIS MAN DOING THINGS TO ME.
close enough. welcome back, apollo!

Aegon found himself in the throes of an unbearable headache. The cause remained a mystery to him— was it the remnants of last night's wine, or the ceaseless prattle of the Small Council on matters that held no interest for him? Yet, above all, it was his Mother's incessant nagging that grated on his nerves. Her unsolicited critiques and condescending remarks had left him feeling hollow, devoid of joy.
For two decades, he endured the relentless torment of inner conflict, torn between his true identity and the expectations placed upon him. Despite being named after a great conqueror, he harbored no ambition for political power. Though hailed as the kingdom's beacon of hope and the King's heir, he would willingly submit to Rhaenyra if it meant finding relief from the torment that consumed him.
He sought solace only in the peculiar wines and the depths of brothels. However, they were no longer sufficient. He was weary of the alcohol-induced headaches and the constricting pain in his chest after waking up next to a woman who was only there for payment. His pride was crumbling, and he could finally concede to the world's judgment of him; Aegon II Targaryen was indeed pathetic.
