falling behind the mark, elaine ducks behind a couple walking the street. stomach churning, her heart wishes she wasn’t ALONE on this tail. regretting the earpiece commentary, she clenches her jaw to stop herself from dislodging the piece of technology. it’s too rigid, the whole situation, her feet too heavy on the sidewalk; she can feel something OFF in the mission. and it’s distracted her too much until she runs into a solid figure, blue eyes wide in surprise, face to face with the target.
HE KNOWS THREE THINGS. 1, when he’s being trailed. 2, when he’s cornered. 3, how to turn the tables. she’s small, and he can see her ducking through the crowds before him, one hand pressing to what he’s sure is a comm in her ear. so he blends, ducks his head, sidesteps twice. he CATCHES her right as she turns and in a flash, he grips the soft spots above her elbows and hauls her out of the flow of traffic. there’s an alcove, discreet enough to him to push her against the wall with a forearm against her throat and hot breath against skin. with a voice that settles underneath tense muscles and strained vocal chords, ❛ who are you ? why are you following me ? ––– what do you want ? ❜
