I love how even though we barely got to see them interact (sadly </3) we can clearly see how much Michael let's Adam get away with. You're telling me Adam questioned God righteousness to Michael's face, the guy who has killed even other angels for much less, and all he did was get a little huffy??? Is that not insane????

Also the way Adam blatantly says to his face that Sam and Dean were right to try to talk him out of saying yes to Michael and it isn't even a big moment between them, there's no anger or even hurt at that comment, it passes over them like something between them that's long healed rather than some resentment they let simmer, so I can't help but think they both acknowledged that Michael did gravely wrong Adam in a lot of ways, and that's pretty special in my eyes

The Archangels of Supernatural

This has been a bit of a passion project of mine for a while now so I’m really happy to show it to you!

soulmate au. when your soulmate touches you for the first time they leave a mark on your skin. platonic and romantic soulmates exist, so anyone is fair game.

normally, it’s little things. a handprint on the palm from a handshake. little smudges from bumping into each other. people either go out of their way to touch strangers or completely avoid it.

adam has a single fingerprint on his arm from kristin tapping him to get his attention in class. her index finger is forever stained green to match.

angels have been told they don’t have soulmates, not with each other, not with humans. the rare exceptions are believed to be frauds. michael possesses adam and no mark is left on his skin.

but as time passes in the cage, and adam sees more of michael’s memories, going earlier and earlier, he notices changes in michael’s true form. a smear of gold that only appeared after gabriel was born. purple after raphael, red after lucifer. he notices it in all the angels he sees, how they’re born as colorless beings but grow into rainbows, more or less. he sees swirls of blue in michael now that aren’t there in memories.

one day, he asks michael about it. what color is his soul. what does he look like on the inside. a sort of blue, michael says. all over. very unique; human souls don’t usually have such a cohesive color. just another reason adam is special.

it probably takes michael a while to believe it. he has to look at lucifer on the other side of the cage and match the red circle around the approximation of his shoulders and compare it to the first time he met his little brother, how he pulled him into a hug. how raphael’s wings weren’t always lined in purple, how michael stroked them in the first moments of their existence. how gabriel wasn’t born with golden palms, and how michael wasn’t either.

the blue twisting through him that is the exact shade of adam’s soul, a shade he didn’t see when descending upon the green room.

(he sees chuck, once they’re out, and realizes that he’s the only real fraud. the colors he shows in his powers are false. at his core, god is colorless. loveless and cruel. michael stands before him and accepts death in a body stripped of the paint that made it home.)

Imagine you're Sam Winchester -- your time in the Cage was so mentally scarring and traumatizing that, when it was transferred to an //ANGEL//, it completely broke him. Madness that a human mind could never hope to cope with. Even after that load is taken away, it still haunts you.

You know your half-brother was left down there. For years, hundreds, a THOUSAND years. An inexperienced nineteen year old who hadn't seen anything approaching the horrors that were a part of your life growing up. Ridden around by an archangel the entire time, no less.

And, wonder of wonders, you finally meet him again -- and Adam and the archangel Michael are acting like the Cage was some sort of couples communication retreat. They are, if anything, more well-adjusted and healthy than BEFORE THEY WENT TO HELL. HOW THE FUCK DOES SAM WRAP HIS MIND AROUND THAT.

The reason why au!michael had to be the one to possess Dean in season 13 is that if Michael had to possess another vessel Adam would be So Fucking Annoying about it. There’s nothing else on the planet that can make him jealous. Every single step Michael takes in Deans body Adam is waiting there just like “That it? We good? Alright let’s go come on. What, you need an official yes again? Yes, yes, yes, Ja, Sì, Oui, Tak. I would say yes in enochian but I think it would blow out the windows.” And Michael just has to sit there like. “The task is literally not complete yet, me and Dean still have the deal.” And Adam just collapses like a widowed housewife from the Second World War. Power imbalance and graceless human nature be damned, Adams about to pick up a crossbow and kill Lucifer himself just so Michael doesn’t have to spend another minute with Dean. He sees Michael possessing Dean as a punishment on Michael because he thinks Dean is that fucking annoying. Adam the type of guy to write “When will Michael return from the war?” In his journal.

I just remembered that Nick knew how to bring someone from the Empty. I'm assuming he knew that bc Lucifer knew that.

And if Lucifer knew that, shouldn't Michael know too? And following the Archangel>Vessel pipeline, shouldn't Adam know too?

And isn't Adam alive somewhere? Because he was snapped by God along along with humanity, he didn't die with Michael
