At first, I thought this was just a regular photo…

Back in the summer of 2014, the LA Kings pulled off one of the most insane comebacks in playoff history against the San Jose Sharks. The Sharks were up 3-0 in the series, but the Kings won four straight to knock them out in the first round, then went on to lift the Stanley Cup.

Martin Jones, who was the Kings’ backup goalie at the time, brought the Cup home to Vancouver for his “Day with the Cup” event. And there, 8-year-old Macklin Celebrini was just a kid in the crowd, posing for a photo with the trophy.

Fast forward to 2015:

Martin Jones — the goalie who helped eliminate the Sharks — got traded to San Jose and became their starting goalie.

Tyler Toffoli, who was a rookie on the 2014 Cup-winning Kings, now wears #73 for the Sharks, a veteran leader mentoring the new guys.

And that little kid in the photo with the Stanley Cup? In 2024, he was the first overall pick, drafted by the Sharks to be their franchise cornerstone.

LAK and SJS really just wrote their own full-circle destiny, huh…
