Sol Power All-Stars to appear on Soul Clap’s Fabric Mix AND a Japanese-only mix CD by Dazzle Drums
File under: SICED (DC slang for ‘excited’).
We are pleased to announce that the original mix of Djidjo Vide (featuring Elikeh), our afro house smash from 2016, will appear on Soul Clap’s forthcoming Fabric mix cd. It is a bit surreal to 1) appear on such an iconic mix series (one of only a few that still exist). and 2) to appear alongside so many legendary artists, old and new. The track list is a mix of house classics, new synth-based funk, disco, and house steez, and a dose of Afro rhythms (that’s where we fit in). Tunes from Barbara Tucker, Harvey Sutherland and Bermuda, Joakim, Storm and Herman, and more. We haven’t yet heard the mix, but I can already tell this will be mandatory listening in the whip, on the train, or just cruising around town. Shout out to Soul Clap for including us and for all the support they’ve given us over the years.
Soul Clap: FABRIC 93 is out April 21
BUT IT DON’T STOP. The deep afro tech Jose Marquez remix of Djidjo Vide will appear on a forthcoming mix cd and compilation. This one is compiled and mixed by Tokyo-based house duo ‘Dazzle Drums’ and is only available through the legendary Disk Union record shop in Tokyo. It’s a more straight-ahead deep, afro, and soulful house affair than the Fabric mix, but the track list includes some real titans of the game (and personal production heroes), including DJ Spen, Alicia Myers, Zephrain Saint, Ann Nesby, and more. Our tune also appears in full, unmixed form on disc 2 of the release. Out April 14. ***AIRHORN***
Djidjo Vide is available now on vinyl and digital formats.
