currently her canon point is during PRIORITY: EARTH of ME3, right after stopping the Illusive Man and that small talk with Anderson before talking a little. nap. yeah it's not too fun but we're not going to unpack all of that right now

technically died at the end of the first game but was 'rebuilt' by the paramilitary group known as Cerberus to combat the threat of the Collectors (you deon't want to know) . her body is composed of 30% cybernetics because of this

she worked with them for a time but never fully trusted them due to their dealings and run-ins in the past, the 'alliance' was necessary move to stop the Reapers

while generally following more of a paragon role, choosing diplomacy and working things out over other options, shepard is not afraid to stoop to lower means if the situation calls for it. so she's a mix of paragon and renegade with more paragon

deeply cares for the crew of the Normandy and would do absolutely anything for them, even if that means having to butt heads with them in order to knock some sense into them

" An eagerness to help is never a bad thing but you gotta be careful about the battles you pick, kid." not that shepard is one to talk– isn't that how she wound up in that mess with the reapers anyhow? going from just a human marine to being called the only thing that could put a stop to the reapers once and for all. it's ironic in some ways, how that cause not only took her life once but twice. then again, she doesn't remember much of anything after gasping for air amid the ruins.

the specter shoulders her anti-material rifle, walking past the other to crouch next to the downed angel. one of the few monsters that started existing within the city– a threat no matter how you looked at it. a gloved hand reaches out, prodding it to ensure it was dead. huh. kinda reminded her of the rachni in some ways. still focusing on the monster before her, she raises a hand, gesturing with two fingers at the two people huddled together, their backs pressed firm against one of the few boulders scattered around the land of burnt umber.

" Check on them. If they've been stung, let me know. There's only a short window before the venom sets in and the clinic in this place isn't within reach."

okay it's been a hot minute but i'm going to set down a starter call for shepard, uncapped for now! i'll...probably make a capped one for upcoming fes but with her new canon point i need to throw her out there

she's holding a book– or, well, holding is generous given how she has one half of it pinched between her fingers, letting the rest hang open with an expression that reads....annoyed? disbelief?

" I know I was stuck in space for a few years but no way books like this are getting published." the commander squints at a line of words on the page. " Who uses 'All-American Cobb Salad' to describe eating someone out?"

While there had never been a set date and time, Mira had found herself free for the day and in her meeting of the Commander before, there was an offer of meeting something called K-9? Kai-Nine? Something she would need to ask what the spelling of later.

A hand reaches for her phone before she's opening the messaging application and clicking on the desired contact.

[txt.] Hello again, Commander Shepard. [txt.] During our last meeting you asked if I would like to meet someone called 'Kay-Nine', and I am free today to do so, if time permits for you as well. [txt.] I am also aware I may have spelled their name wrong, for which, I apologize.

her phone dings with an alert and she's quick to pull it out with her free hand, the other busy cleaning her weapon, intent on not letting it collect dust and debris. after the last situation she found herself in, she needed it clean and ready. lips pull into a smile as she reads the texts, gaze dropping to the mech-dog as she snoozed comfortably by Shepard's feet.

" Let's get going, girl." the commander replies, shooting back the guide a quick confirmation, stating that she'd be at Mira's place shortly.

in perhaps record time, there comes a knock on Mira's door, KEI-9's tail wagging as she chirps in what Shepard can only guess is excitement. hopefully the other won't be too shocked by the dog's appearance.

"Really?" Sephiroth had never heard of adults having hobbies like that. He bashfully hid the small smile on his face. "I... I really like stuffed animals."

ah, there we go, that's much better. " Mhm! It's a nice downtime bewteen missions." something to distract her from the war against the reapers. " Stuffed animals, huh? Any favorites? Like, say bears over horses, stuff like that."

"What I like?" that was a heavy question and it took him a moment of thinking. "I like soft things. Like quilts and..." He paused, embarrassed. "Nevermind."

there's a smile, understanding in nature. " Hey, ain't nothing wrong with that. If you want soft things and quilts in your place, then do it. It's for you, nobody else. Back home in my captain quarters, I had all sorts of these model ships I put together all over. "

"I've never had personal belongings or furniture until now. This is the first time I've ever slept on a bed."

damn. sounds a lot like her childhood in some ways. " Well then this means it's the perfect chance for you to get some. It's your home now and your bed, so you can decorate it however you want. Hell, if all you want is a plant, then do that. Think about things you like and go from there."

"I have a house now, but I don't know what to put in it." He probably should have considered that first.

" Furniture would be my first suggestion– any personal effects you have can go in too. "

there's a distant memory of maria telling him about guns. the train robber had seemed surprised when they were unknown to him - undoubtedly an invention beyond his own time period - and had explained their purpose, the basics of usage. in another time where he was not directly in harm's way, it seemed easy enough to do: a focused aim, the pull of a curved metal piece to release a bullet. now, watching as the ( much braver ) stranger handles it with twice the expertise he could ever dream of having, the preceding embarrassment to an attempt he already foresees as unsuccessful kicks in full force.

" have a little faith in me, i'm a great shot, " he gulps as he takes the gun into his hand: he just has to think of this like archery but with less steps. " you're gonna, um, be so surprised, it's gonna rock your world. "

the weapon is turned in his hold a few times, fingers shifting against the cold metal in search of a comfortable manner to hold it. the spectre's advice is registered as fast as she leaves his side. almost on cue, the groans behind them seem to grow louder and will turns immediately to aim at them.

" so what's our big plan here? " rushing towards her, his torso twists uncomfortably back as to allow him to keep attacking. " please tell me you have somewhere we can go and like, hide, or - "

from the corner of his eye, will can see her clear out their opponents bare-fisted and freezes. his thoughts are boiled down to three simple words: woah, pretty lady.

" i have a friend that lives sorta close to here. i don't think she's in her apartment right now, but i don't think she'd mind if we stay there for a little bit. "

he wasn't entirely hopeless. that's.....well, not good, but serviceable. she can't afford to be picky right now and most of the shots are hitting the intended target. not bad for a civilian thrusted into a sudden life or death situation.

" I was planning to go for a nearby shelter–" duck low, leg sweep to the left, back up again"– but your friend's apartment sounds like a much better idea." for the time being, anyways. she had no plans to keep them on the run for a prolonged period of time. " We're just gonna have to speed this up before running for it!"

reckless was something that was synonymous with the name commander shepard and no matter where she was, that wasn't going to change. once the area seemed mostly clear in front of them, she slows her pace until he's caught up, turning around to notice the group thinned but stragglers left remained determined. cursing under her breath, shepard reaches for the widow, shoulders relaxing at the familiar weight of the anti-material rifle in her hands. one knee against the ground, the other bent at a perfect angle, she props the gun up on a toppled trashcan.

" Stay put and listen. " she commands as she reaches into a pouch on her hip, withdrawing a clip and sliding it into the widow. " I'm going to fire two shots and then we're going to run to your friend's apartment. Take these few minutes to catch your breath before when I give the word, we're gone."
