species addendum - vampires

hi, everyone! vampires were accidentally cut out of our species previews, but you can read their lore below:

VAMPIRES ✮✮✮

first appearing in romania, vampires were one of the first species to arrive in ostara - having been chased out of their home country and surviving in america for only a few decades before the american vampire panic sent them reeling. they have a reputation for being both pompous and seductive, but new fledgling vampires that are more adaptive are shaking up their place in modern society. in exchange for their ‘life’, these undead creatures now crave blood and must sate their appetite or risk falling into a catatonic state. different blood has different effects - fae blood creates a high of sorts, berserker blood raises their strength, etc. creating new vampires is generally frowned upon in ostara, but welcomed in litha. vampires tend to be grouped together by ‘bloodlines’, and many feel a pull to the vampire that turned them, whether they like it or not. 

vampires are immortal, but can be wounded or starved into a dormant state. they are sensitive to light and silver, cannot appear in mirrors, and must be invited into thresholds. vampires will appear the way they were when they were turned, and any attempts to alter their appearance will fail. 

+ pheromone generation the ability to consciously produce and release specific pheromones.

+ enhanced balance proficient ability to stay stable on small or uneven surfaces.

+ hypnosis the power to put others into a trance. 

+ enhanced bite the ability to have an especially powerful, deep, or damaging bite.

+ scattering the ability to disperse their body, usually used as a means of escape or to travel quickly across a small distance.

This might be a dumb question, but how do “spirits” sites work? This looks super cool, but I’ve never been in a spirits rp before

“Spirits” is kind of an antiquated term in the jcink community, but is just common verbiage for the genre we’re going for. the best way i can think to describe spirits sites are they are ‘adaptions’ or retellings of already existing characters, namely playing with a canon’s personality/motivations/parts of their backstory in a new setting with new lore - you can think of it like an extreme AU, if you will. you’re essentially creating your own OC based off an already existing character!
