"As a child I scribbled; and my favourite pastime during the hours given me for recreation was to 'write stories'. Still, I had a dearer pleasure than this, which was the formation of castles in the air - the indulging in waking dreams - the following up trains of thought, which had for their subject the formation of a succession of imaginary incidents. My dreams were at once more fantastic and agreeable than my writings. In the latter I was a close imitator rather doing as others had done than putting down the suggestions of my own mind. What I wrote was intended at least for one other eye - my childhood's companion and friend; but my dreams were all my own; I accounted for them to nobody; they were my refuge when annoyed - my dearest pleasure when free."
- Mary Shelley, Frankenstein - Introduction to the Standard Novel Edition (1831)
Never knew I can so viscerally relate to a person so long gone.
Currently waiting for a Blade Runner screening. Turns out I severely underestimated how crowded this VERY small theater was going to be late at a Tuesday night for this movie š
Will watch Blade Runner today at 8 PM. Can't wait to leave work.
Also curently reading the book it's based on and damn that opening chapter is heavy. I had my jaw drop several times.
Wanna go home and play dredge...
Welcome September! ā¤ļø
Sky's cloudy, wind's chilly, air's heavy with petrichor.
What a wounderful time for tea and journals and writing and reading and crafts and video games and podcasts and cozy jackets and t-shirts and long sleeves under shirts and blouses and jeans and warm socks and all the other quirks of not being cooked alive in the overbearing heat of summer.
Update: The sun has returned.

Only been working for a big corporation for barely a week and I already want to quit. The job itself is just tedious busywork, I need some job that I can pay for tuition. How on earth does anybody think that these huge empty spaces and neat corners and shades of nothing but grey can create a hospitable working enviroment? I never really understood the "liminal space horror" and "office nightmare" episodes of tv shows, or those few episodes of TMA and TMAGP that centered around these fears, maybe conceptually but now, after a SINGLE WEEK of being there, I get it on a visceral level, or at least it feels like it. 3 months and I got the money I need and then I can switch to a less mindbreaking place.
This au is just me pushing MK with a stick to see how far I can take him before he explodes
I'm so very normal about this...
I just love everything about this au and this comic specifically. The expressions, the characterization, the dialogue, the angles, their true forms appearing behind them, MK's transition to his monkey form and that last panel alone. I just love cheerful, jolly characters who are secretly on the verge of a thinly veiled mental breakdown 24/7
I really wish we'll have something like this in the actual show, maybe in the specials. This feels very much like a natural progression of both the plot and MK's character to me. Even if a bit dark for the target audience...
Okay, I had a crackpot idea, not even a theory (it is by the end of this post btw) just an idea, that I need to put out in the ether.
So, I recently came across a post from @vertigala who theorized that RedCanary might be the new host for Protocolverse!Jonah Magnus. And I thought, if they were to ever show up in person it sure would be fun horrible if RedCanary was someone we know from TMA. So... I'm trying to work out who would make more sense be absolutely gut-wrenching when it hits me. What if, just IF, because the likelihood of this is, like, zero, I'm sure, but JUST WHAT IF... RedCanary is Protocolverse!Jonathan Sims?
I mean just think about the potential in that. The moment we first hear this universe's Jon talking in TMAGP, sounding "awfully happy" or something, bringing a fleeting sense of joy, knowing that at least in one universe he's not so devastatingly miserable, but it slowly dawns on us, and on Jon if he's the one/one of who's listening, that it's not him, that that bastard wins again, that utter, truly next-level defeat, that heartache! And then for however long Jonah would be an active threat in TMAGP we'd have to hear him through Jon's own voice, see him in his body, all the while TMA!Jon, trapped in the 'puters (with TMA!Jonah nonetheless), using the last remnants of his own agency, all of his remaining consciousness, is actively trying to stop him (and/or this world's horrors), as the only people being vaguely aware of him are a paranoid IT guy who is actively conspiring againts him and a woman from his own world who has every reason not just to never trust Jon but also (imo) wanting to work againts him given the chance.
On top of all of this there's the several layers deep irony to all of it. Jon being the one who reads out that case, either out of his own choice or being forced to do so, the implication of him specifically chosing this case to deter Sam from or leading him directly towards the Magnus Institue, or someone else using Jon for that. Then there's the idea of this universe's Jon willingly seeking out spooky abandoned locations for fun and then meeting a gory demise from exploring the burned down ruins of the Magnus Institute, becoming a mistery known only to the mostly oblivious staff of an organization that specifically looks for these eldritch monsters to recruit, reducing his experience to little more than random numbers in a database that nobody uses anymore.
Even though RedCanary doesn't particularly strike me as a likely candidate for Protocolverse!Jon based on the wording of their comments alone, plus they also suggest they're from Manchester and their dad is still alive, I still think it would make some weird, karmic sense for them to be this universe's Jon. By not growing up in Bournemouth or, more importantly, not being raised by his grandmother, who'd carelessly buy any random cheap book on clearance for him to read, he could have avoided making any significant connection to the supernatural in childhood and therefore avoiding geting on the radar of the Magnus Institute prior to their destruction in '99, despite now being much closer to it. This being Jon, I think he would still have that Eye-aligned thirst for knowledge, secrets, uncaring for the dangers he'd be exposed to while looking for them, so with the Institute gone he finds another way to satiate that thirst and developes a liking for exploring abadoned places. Which then leads him back to the Magnus Institute, striking his interest, publically at least, with it being "cleared", "explored to death", holding no more secrets, yet not having any pictures to show it, not having any concrete information on it. So he goes to explore, not being deterred by the state of the building, being careless, expects piles of papers, the renmants of the knowledge that place once held, having the sense of doors shutting behind him, seeing grafiti on the wall and wanting to know more about it, trying to document all of it and failing to do so due to photographic distortions, having to resort to older technology, taking something they're weren't supposed to, not just in a supernatural sense, but the place they're discussing all of this is also against it, the rising paranoia that leads to the brutal mutalation of their eyes, the sight of which makes the forum freak out and remove the only photo that found its way to the internet, the only real evidence of what happened to them. All of it is there, narratively speaking, for the audience of TMA entering this new world, this new story, serving as a red thread from one world to another, basically summarising the entirity of TMA without spoilers. But how thematically fitting it would be that after being welcomed in this new world by the remnants of Martin, who's pained sob was the last thing the tapes supposedly recorded before entering the Protocolverse, telling us a tale reminisent of his own feelings and his, Jon's and Jonah's state of being at the moment ("Some of him") the person who then basically introduces us not just to this world's Magnus Institute and the danger it still holds but also theslightly changed rules of the Fears, warning us not to / beckoning us to investigate further, to be this world's Jon, appearing only through a thematically fitting username in a tale told to us by the remnants of the original world's Jon. Once used by Jonah to be the vessel through which all the fears entered the world, now possessed entirely by Jonah, allowing him to enter the world even after being defeated and do as he pleases.
(...Okay, I know it all started as a sleep deprived mind's musing on a bittersweet scene that was likely never to happen but I'm lowkey totally sold on this idea now.)

I cannot express how much i love Angrboưaās design. The golden jewelry, those beads across her chest, the turquoise tunic and that weird shoulder thing, the dreadlocks, the far sitting eyes, the overall wide cheeks and nose and that soft smile, not to mention those golden tattoos that i didnāt even notice until now. I cannot wait to see how this games turn out.
(she also seem to have some kind of bone or white wood hair accessories)
Iām sorry did my current hyperfixation, comfort game, Slime Rancher just got itsā sequel announced... that looks increadible vibrant and captivating... yeah catch my brain not-functioning for the next couple of days...
My two favorite human in the world

Ben: Iāve been stabbed before!
Zak: You canāt build up an immunity to stab wounds, you idiot!
7 Reasons why The Hollowās ending is great
Iāve seen a lot of people complaining about the ending but PLEASE
Iāll try to make y'all consider stuff
Also, SPOILER WARNING (obviously)
They forshadowed it since the beginning. I personally called it as a videogame in episode 2
The final boss fight was the best scene in which the characters act as a team. They all had something to do to help and no one was left behind. In that scene they all knew each one of them was essential for the team. (I know it wasnāt the best fight, or even close to be, but it was endearing to see them being a team)
Itās honestly super well written. They had a few details I liked a lot, like Weird Guy⢠being purple because of the screens.
There is a lot of unanswered questions, that lead up to season 2 (Why were they playing? Was the glitch intentional? Why did Vanessa had a glitch in hEr fricking eye? Is that trophy EVERYTHING they win after so much? Why did the other team know they were in a game but Adam, Mira, and Kai didnāt know? Do they have spare lives in the game? Are there more teams? IS ADAM GAY? Etc)
Although obvious, you couldnāt have guessed everything! The life action scene was super unexpected and kind of endearing to see
The actors match the cartoons. I personally LOVE when they drop the āmake your avatarā thing and have just one persona (looking at you, Sword Art Online, the Ruining Character Design master)
The main three were??? Just so happy?? I love them
I canāt think of more reasons that donāt add to the ones already there. If you have more, Iāll be more than happy to add them!
Consider this are just my personal opinions and that you donāt have to agree with me!
TLDR the ending was great, appreciate it
[SPOILER WARNING] I personally found the ending (the last 5-10 minutes with the live action part) dissapointing because it didnāt resolve anything. Yeah it was a video game, yeah they were participating willingly, yeah the Weird Guy was the gameās guide/real-life conductor. It did confirm our theories but didnāt add anything. The only part remained unclear was the Bug and wether it was part of the game or it was something else. You can deduct a lot of different things from the conductorās behaviour but itās not much to work with, or anything really. The questions they answered were painfully obvious from episode 2, or even from the lines like āitās like a puzzleā andĀ āletās goā āwe just want to be sure we donāt miss anythingā or the map that shows only the discovered area.
You can start to theories on things like, why were they playing the game? was there a prize beyond that trophy? was this game something extraordinary? what does their own world look like? what is their relationship like? does Mira have a real-life crush on Adam? were they once together? were they friends before the competion or were just sorted into the same team beyond their control? how does their temporary amnesia and their experiences from the game? why was the dynamic in the competitive teamās so different? were they the champions? was this game the final of a long competioton? etc..
But you canāt really go anywhere with these ideas because the show never gave us anything to work with during the 10 episodes long run time. I wanted some of these questions answered in the final but it was only sequel baiting.
However I enjoyed the show greatly, i was really excited to learn about the story behind the superficial plot. The animation style is fantastic, the full body runnig animation is horrible though especially the first couple of episodes, it just doesnāt have any flow and made me laugh a lot, in a negative way. The relationship building between the trio was really great. I hope they keep that up. I especillly liked how they subverted the leader guy and the girl gets together trope. I wouldnāt mind if they go down the Adam is gay route, honestly that was the first thing that popped into my mind when i saw the scene, Iām just worried about Adamkai, how theyāre going to build up Kaiās character in that scenario. Like he only expressed interest in girls, so he might be/might think that he is straight. So before or during they going to reveal that Adamās gay they need to build up the inner revelation for Kai that he might like guys too. If you donāt care for it (any canon ship really) you end up upsetting a lot of fan (*cough*Voltron*cough*) and iām not convienced yet that the crew is prepared for that. However i think it would be mroe interesting if Adam was ace. Thereās just so few ace characters in cartoons.
So if the Millennium Earl is Mana, but the Millennium Earl is the one who showed up before Allen offering to bring Mana back to life, and the Mana who was brought back recognized Allen and cursed him, and Nea says the Millennium Earl is Mana, whoās flying the plane?
My cousin's theory: "When the OG Millenium Earl splits into Mana and Neah the split is physical, they're raised as brothers, Mana kills Neah to become the ME, then goes crazy, and the split is now mental, OG Neah is gone but his memory is saved by a guy named Allen Walker, Mana's personality now and then comes to the surface, he meets Red, when Mana is killed and Allen(our) calls him back the soul that appears is the split soul/mind-fragment that is left from Mana" though if this is the case then the execution is needlessly comolicated...
