This weekend I said goodbye to Black Kitty.  He was in the vicinity of 20 years old and declining quickly.  He came to me as a feral, was missing most of one ear, his mouth was too small for his fangs, he would become paralyzed with a paw in the air when pettins were really, really good, and he will be forever missed.  Saturday afternoon he said goodbye and wandered off to some secret place, dying as independently as he lived.
