i love how all the main characters of mlp are adults with jobs. It's possibly my favorite thing about friendship is magic. There's some child characters too but the main characters all being adults with responsibilities is so much more interesting than most kids' shows that are just about children in school.

Twilight being a grad student who runs the local library. Applejack and Rarity straight-up running actual businesses in town. Fluttershy runs an animal shelter? Rainbow Dash has a dead-end job and dreams of becoming a stunt flier like her heroes. Pinkie Pie's talent doesn't even relate to her job: she's the local entertainer but she also just happens to work in a bakery, where she rents the top floor. It's so fun and realistic? So many different plotlines came from their wide variety of jobs. Lauren Faust cooked so hard.
