Decided to draw Woah Nelly. I got lazy so it's not shaded or anything. I might redraw her sometime.
But anyways, I based her off how horses gain weight irl, with a bit of creativity (horses iirc don't get double chins but I wanted to add it). And gave her leg support braces cause of the horse anatomy and how weight effects horses.
I also changed her cutie mark to smth that feels like the same vibes but looks nicer. Including a celtic symbol modern-day I see people associate with self love.
if you’re an active follower of mine, i do recognize your username and/or icon. i smile when i see it in my activity. i get excited when you add funny tags to things. i get really happy when you reblog my op posts. so thank you, i appreciate you massively.
oh i don't think i ever posted this. drew this last year based on a post by @rarilight which made me realize i'd never really thought of That Oh. moment for them before
Mlp infected aus that just erase Discord from existence is so funny, he would shut that shit down so fast. Not even all that for the sake of friendship or whatever he’d see it and be like erm… not really my cup of chaos, this is just gross (snap, fixed)
TEN GAZILLION PONY ATTACK!!!!! this is a part 2 of my subtle animation-friendly redesigns!!! I only made changes that could have happened in the show. hair gradients can be seen in cadence, and white markings on sunburst, for example.
feel free to ask me questions about the design choices!! (just mentioning: I love the CMC's actual cutie marks, just wanted to try designing individual ones this time around!)
Part 1 with the mane 6!
Sombra began meddling with dark magic in hopes of being able to do more within his royal duties alongside the sisters. Dark magic was (and is) very much illegal and forbidden to practice/learn. Dark magic isn’t innately evil, contrary to what most ponies believe. It allows an extension of power and magic, which is what Sombra hoped to achieve in order to help out more. However, inexperienced users have a higher chance of falling corrupted due to an inner emotional & arcane power imbalance - prime example being Sombra - which makes it dangerous to practice.
He did not succeed in his efforts and ended up causing a mess in which the sisters had to clean up. Sombra attempted to explain himself to the two, but Celestia was beyond disappointed in him. His alicorn duties were temporarily put on probation. Luna and Sombra’s “friendship” became nonexistent as he was cast aside for his mistake. It did not take long for resentment to build within him as Sombra felt he couldn’t mend the broken trust; no matter what he tried. These feelings along with the corruption began to take a toll on him. Sombra was sent off to reside in the Crystal Empire under the watchful eye of Princess Amore, who volunteered to take him in temporarily, as the sisters were far too busy to keep an eye on him.
By the time Celestia believed it was okay to let Sombra back on small royal duties, it had been far too late.
Dark magic corruption is similar to a progressive disease. The arcane begins to turn against the user and takes a physical effect upon the users body. It may start slow initially, such as hair loss, lethargy, nausea/vomiting, weight loss, irritability, or confusion. Then, it may progress rapidly on into more bizarre changes such as complete alteration of the user’s body - as seen with Sombra. Additionally, the user may say or do things they wouldn’t have done before under the guidance of the dark magic. Corruption heightens an individual's emotions, so mild annoyance may form anger - and anger turns into full-blown rage. These changes were not studied enough to understand corruption entirely, so when Celestia confronted Sombra to see the state he was in now, it unnerved her.
Sombra felt abandoned by Celestia, and Luna's indifference to his emotions didn't help at all. It was guaranteed that Sombra would go on a rampage. Sombra had murdered Princess Amore after a mild disagreement. Celestia, tearfully, and Luna would have no choice but to banish him in hopes that the corruption would cease. In the midst of this banishment, Sombra's wings were revoked - skin, flesh, bone and all. Alicorn's were never de-winged due to the morality of it all, but Sombra's situation was unique and Celestia had no other option. As a final "fuck you" to both of the princesses, Sombra took hold of the Empire and took it down with him.
From there, Sombra spent an eternity locked in the dimension set aside for him to live out the corruption. It seemed as though the corruption began to slow, but it would take a second banishment (seen with the mane 6) to rid him of the corruption entirely.
sombra is a bit taller than braeburn due to the physical alterations he underwent during alicornhood.
the two met after sombra’s second banishment (the crystal empire episode), which resulted in his physical self being essentially “wiped” due to the crystal heart. sombra somehow managed to lessen himself to his horn, which prevented him from dying. as sombra was regaining his power, the corruption sombra had been enduring for an uncomfortable period of time had eased and vanished — likely due to the magical properties of the crystal heart.
sombra managed to wind up in appleloosa - miles and miles away from the crystal empire and canterlot. times were much modern now, and sombra wasn’t exactly sure where he was at. addled and exhausted, he stumbled across braeburn who had been tending the local apple orchard. braeburn was initially startled by this literal behemoth of a stallion, but put on his best southern hospitality and welcomed sombra into the town. braeburn, at the time, had no knowledge of sombra’s crimes or actions due to appleloosa’s rather isolated nature.
braeburn offered to get sombra settled on his hooves seeing the condition he was in, in exchange sombra would lend a hoof with the orchard. of course, sombra being sombra flat out refused and called braeburn a “lowly peasant hick.”
after some time, the two became rather close despite sombra’s initial coldness and sharp attitude. additionally, sombra soon confided in braeburn regarding his previous life after braeburn was eager to introduce him to his family and friends. sombra knew of applejack, due to seeing photos scattered across the walls of braeburn’s home- some of which included twilight + others - and knew he couldn’t lie his way out of it ultimately.
sombra told braeburn everything. from the murder of princess amore, to his ruling, to plotting to kill twilight and her friends; including applejack. at first, braeburn was confused, then angry, disappointed, then finally began to ease up. braeburn felt lied to, or at least left in the shadows for a long while (no pun intended). but in the end, he realized that sombra wasn’t entirely himself during that time. sombra mentioned meddling with dark magic as he ruled alongside the two sisters, even though he had been warned not to. braeburn and sombra slowly rebuilt their trust.
it would take a long while for sombra to ever feel comfortable meeting braeburn’s family and friends.
