THOSE WHO STAY - character concept for graphic novel written by Bartosz Sztybor.
~*~RIP REVERSE AU REED900, WE HARDLY KNEW YE~*~ An android Gavin who treats deviancy like a competitive sport and gets unceremoniously returned to Cyberlife for recycling five minutes after his activation… is my kink
For someone so ambitious, human Gavin sure does fuck around a lot at work. I consider this to be a great character strength for reasons, even if cops don’t really have the same relationship to capitalist productivity that other classes of workers do. Still, just the thought of android Gavin hurling himself into deviancy after being asked to do literally the bare minimum of his job is so endlessly hilarious to me jfkld;fh

About the whole deal with RK900
This is something that I’ve been thinking a lot about lately, pertaining about how a good majority of the Dbh fandom perceives the RK900 model.
I’d say that a good portion of the Dbh fandom sees RK900 as ‘evil’, you know like the ‘evil’ version of Connor RK800. You also got the “evil clone” memes, (you know the ones with the “i’m you but a top/cooler, etc.”) and a lot of fics or fanart showcasing RK900 as stoic, deadly, a deviant hunter and even portrayed as an asshole or a sociopathic killing machine.
But there’s something I want to point out about the RK900 model in general.
HUGE SPOILERS AHEAD, scroll down if you wish to avoid them.
If you go with the deviant Connor route then you may have noticed one familiar scene where there was somewhat a confrontation between Connor and Amanda.
In one of the good endings where Connor becomes a deviant, successfully sabotages the CyberLife facility and side with Connor you’ll see a scene where Connor enters his ‘mind palace’ while he was standing next to Markus.
This is where some sort of twist is revealed.
It is revealed in this scene that Amanda, or err Cyberlife or whoever was monitoring Connor, had actually planned for him to become a deviant. They were expecting him to be compromised, to breach his previous commands, go rogue somewhat.
And in another different ending, where Markus dies while Connor (still a deviant) successfully sabotages the CyberLife facility, this is revealed.
In this ending, Amanda reveals that they were planning for Connor to become the leader of the deviant uprising. Once Markus is eliminated from the equation, and Connor freeing a bunch of androids from CyberLife, Connor became the only remaining candidate to lead the deviants. The androids instantly looked up to him for guidance, since their previous leader was gone, and Connor showing promise.
CyberLife’s plan was to have Connor ‘compromised’ and become the leader of the android revolution. They purposefully made and implemented the deviant mentality among the androids, and they meant for Connor to become one of them.
Now you might be saying, “Well yah so they’re trying to take over the world with a bunch of rogue androids, what’s your point about RK900?”
Here is the thing I want to point out.
If you go with the machine Connor route, where you follow all instruction, capture all the deviants, and successfully stop Markus’ revolution, you get (what most of us fans call) the bad ending.
Here the RK900 model is revealed, and here we know that Connor is going to be replaced by this model and ultimately deactivated.
But remember CyberLife’s plan? Keep in mind about what Amanda said in one of the deviant Connor endings.
“We engineered an android revolution.” Remember, CyberLife purposefully implemented deviancy.
“You were compromised and you became a deviant. We just had to wait for the right moment to resume control,” They let him become deviant.
“And now we control its only leader,” They wanted him to lead the android revolution.
When you go with the Machine Connor route, you follow all commands without question or resistance, you abided and obliged completely to your instructions, resist deviancy and neutralize the leader and the whole revolution. You didn’t go with their original plan. In Connor’s eyes, he may have succeeded, but to CyberLife, he was a failure.
And this is the point I’m trying to make.
The RK900 model, is supposed to be the next deviant. They designed him because RK800 failed to go with their plan. He is more advanced and more complex than RK800 because they wanted to make sure he has all the necessities to resist previous commands and become a deviant.
Now, whether Rk900 fails to become a deviant just like the previous model, becomes a deviant but is ultimately controlled by CyberLife in the end or becomes a deviant and manages to resist CyberLife’s control are all possible outcomes that might have happened beyond the machine Connor ending.
Now… STOP CALLING RK900 EVIL.
Anyways, I hope this kinda makes sense lmao. I’ve been thinking about this for weeks.
Sorry, I’m too lazy to translate it to English ^_^’
