Hi all! Welcome to another legacy conversion by me! This is the ‘Very Veggie Legacy Challenge’, originally created by lilsimsie as a follow-up to her original ‘Not So Berry’ challenge. I stumbled upon this challenge by chance, looking for something to play, after getting the itch to play some Sims 4. Whilst skimming the rules, I couldn’t help but think they could also work for Sims 3 gameplay, so I quickly set about converting it.
One notable difference from the rules of the original one is that I have blended both the general rules for each generation with those of the ‘base game’ rules. Sims 3 has fewer packs and store content than Sims 4, so I thought it would make the generations feel fuller to blend the two.
As with the original rules, this is something of a colour-based challenge. Instead of basic colour themes, the colours are to be inspired by the vegetables used in each generation. This can be interpreted any way you like - colourful hair and clothes, full berry sims, or even just a colour house!
The original rules also intend for this to be played as a sort of rags-to-riches style challenge. You are encouraged to start on an empty lot with zero funds, but you are welcome to start in a starter home and move up in the world as the challenge progresses!
This challenge, as with the original, is meant to encourage fun and goofy gameplay. If you choose not to follow rules exactly, I am not going to bite your head off! The important thing is to have fun and play as you want to play!
General Rules:
Start with one YA sim founder sim
Dress your founder and heirs to match their assigned colour theme and vegetable! You may also choose to decorate their house to match the theme
Use the assigned traits and aspiration for Generation 1 (Broccoli) when creating your Sim. If you get random traits for your heirs in the future, try to assign at least one of their remaining traits with that of the upcoming generation
To complete this challenge you must make it through ten generations of the same family and complete all (if not most) of the challenges for each generation
If you are missing a career or trait, feel free to substitute it with whatever you deem appropriate
The next generation officially “begins” once you complete the rules of the previous generation and/or the heir has become a young adult
GENERATION ONE: BROCCOLI
Vegetables spend a lot of time outside staring at the sky. You notice the way sunlight filters through leaves. You hear how the wind sings. You watch the sky paint a picture every night at sunset. Nature is beautiful, and you want to capture it. You become an artist and dedicate your life to honing your craft and sharing it with others.
Colour theme: Dark Green
Traits: Artistic, Green Thumb, Love the Outdoors, Avant Garde, Nurturing
LTW: Master of the Arts
Career: No formal career (make money by selling your arts & crafts)
Additional Rules:
Become a knitter (you may use the mod here)
If you do not wish to download the mod, become a painter, sculptor, or photographer
Make money by selling your arts & crafts
Master 3 artistic skills of your choice
Painting, Writing, Sculpting, Photography, Street Art, Guitar, Bass, Drums, Piano
GENERATION TWO: EGGPLANT
Everyone won’t shut up about romance. All day every day you have to listen to weird suggestive eggplant jokes, people complaining about their partners, or even worse: them going on and on about their happy little relationships. You’re sick of it! Love is dead, and you’re going to prove it. You decide your life goal is to ruin as many relationships as possible. Well, at least when you’re off the clock. You can’t exactly quit your day job. Relationship saver by day, relationship ruiner by night.
Colour theme: Purple
Traits: Evil, Flirty, Great Kisser, Commitment Issues, Mean Spirited
LTW: Heartbreaker or Master Romancer
Career: Nectarmaking or Mixologist
Additional Rules:
Max the Charisma and Mixology skills
Optionally master the Nectar Making skill
Romance at least 5 different sims
Have a home bar set up in your house
Have poor relationships with your child(ren) - do not interact with them unless autonomously, be strict, send them to boarding school, do not teach them any skills
Wear unusual or eccentric outfits
Have children with multiple sims
Never marry
GENERATION THREE: CARROT
Your parents weren’t exactly great role models for love, and you’ve always struggled with human connection. You long for someone who will accept you, won’t judge you, and will love you for who you are. In your hunt for companionship, you find someone who loves carrots unconditionally: a horse. You devote your life to caring for and raising your horses and become a championship horse rider.
Colour theme: Orange
Traits: Equestrian, Loner, Unflirty, Angler, Green Thumb
LTW: The Jockey
Career: No formal career (make your money through equestrian events, fish, and produce)
Additional Rules:
Master the Riding and Fishing skills
Optionally master the Gardening skill
Own at least two horses
Have a good relationship with your non-heir parent, and a poor one with your heir parent
Have one child
Only get married after you become an adult
GENERATION FOUR: SQUASH
You grew up in a small town on a farm, and you always dreamed of getting away and moving on to bigger and better things. You know you are destined for greatness, and you are determined to never have your dreams squashed. You care deeply about success, and you will do anything in your power to get it.
Colour theme: Yellow
Traits: Genius, Ambitious, Dislikes Children, Hopeless Romantic, Schmoozer
LTW: Major Master or Perfect Student
Career: Your choice of major + associated career or social group career
Additional Rules:
Max the Logic, Social Networking, and Handiness skills
Be on the honour roll & graduate as valedictorian
Earn max level with one of the three social groups. When you graduate, join one of the associated careers with that social group
If you do not achieve max level with a social group before leaving, just pick a career associated with your degree
Get married after graduating university
Have at least two kids
Divorce as an adult
Hire a maid and/or butler
GENERATION 5: POTATO
You never really minded dirt, and you don’t see why anyone else would either. It’s honestly kind of offensive that people are so dramatic about always wanting a “clean house” with “functional appliances” and “no mould.” You love to dumpster dive, befriend dust bunnies, and live in filth, and you absolutely NEVER clean.
Colour theme: Brown
Traits: Couch Potato, Childish, Slob, Evil, Inappropriate
LTW: Become a Master Thief or The Emperor of Evil
Career: Criminal
Additional Rules:
Master Logic and Athletic skills
Move out when you’re a YA
Never clean your house - hire a maid or have your partner do it!
Join the Criminal career
Make money on the side by stealing and dumpster diving
Have one child and have a good relationship with them
GENERATION SIX: TOMATO
It’s hard growing up as a tomato in a world of veggies. You’re different from your family. Nobody takes you seriously. People keep pointing out that you contain seeds, and that you grow from the flower of the tomato plant so you can’t possibly be a vegetable like the rest of them. Well, whatever! You’ll show them by growing plants! You decide to become a gardener, and you will spend your life trying to prove to yourself to everyone around you.
Colour theme: Red
Traits: Socially Awkward, Loner, Green Thumb, Nurturing, Loves the Outdoors
LTW: The Perfect Garden or Celebrated Five Star Chef or The Culinary Librarian
Career: Freelance Gardener or Culinary
Additional Rules:
Meet your future spouse as a teenager
Marry after becoming YAs and move to a larger family home
Have a garden
Max Gardening, Handiness, and Cooking skills
Become a Freelance Gardener and make money by selling your produce or join the Culinary career
Have four kids in quick succession, one of which must be adopted
GENERATION SEVEN: CAULIFLOWER
You come from a long line of vegetables, and you are fascinated by your family’s history. So fascinated that you think you start seeing… ghosts? But that can’t be true! Ghosts aren’t real? …right? Your fascination turns into an obsession, and you devote your life to the macabre, all while not being fully sure if you even believe in any of it.
Colour theme: White
Traits: Bookworm, Brooding, Loner, Supernatural Fan, Genius
LTW: Illustrious Author
Career: Freelance Writer

GENERATION EIGHT: RADISH
You grew up in a house full of death, and now you can’t help but feel chased by it. It doesn’t help that all your hobbies are a little bit dangerous. Just stay away from poison and try not to fall off a mountain. You’ll be fine! Constantly being surrounded by death taught you to live life to the fullest, and instilled within you a deep desire for adventure. The sky’s the limit… literally!
Colour theme: Pink (ignore the banner, I accidentally made it purple!)
Traits: Athletic, No Sense of Humour, Daredevil, Friendly, Brave
LTW: Become an Astronaut or Become a Superstar Athlete or Martial Arts Master
Career: Athletic or Military
Additional Rules:
Join the Athletic or Military Career after becoming a YA
Master Athletic, Martial Arts, and Logic skills
Visit one of the World Adventure locations at least once
Meet and befriend an alien
Have two children but never marry
GENERATION NINE: MUSHROOM
Considering how your entire family is literally full of vegetables it’s kind of shocking how little any of your ancestors seemed to care about the environment. Your parents travelled the world and took you with them, and now you care deeply about protecting the planet for future generations.
Colour theme: Beige
Traits: Eco-Friendly, Loves the Outdoors, Dog/Cat Lover, Loner, Clumsy
LTW: Any Pets LTW or Presenting the Perfect Private Aquarium
Career: Freelance fishing or gardening
Additional Rules:
Master Fishing and Handiness skills
Always ride a bike or take taxis everywhere
Own at least one large pet or a small pet
Marry someone with similar traits to you
Have one child as an adult
Optionally, try to live as off grid as possible
GENERATION TEN: PEA
Most peas are destined to spend their lives stuffed in the back corner of a freezer, forgotten about. That life was never meant for you. You crave the spotlight. You are a pea of many talents, and you will make yourself unforgettable.
Colour theme: Pale Green
Traits: Snob, Great Kisser, Schmoozer, Dramatic, Virtuoso
LTW: Swimming in Cash or Lifestyle of the Rich and Famous
Career: Business, Actor, or Music
Additional Rules:
Become a five-star celebrity
Have a house worth at least $250,000
Master Charisma and two music skills of your choice
Join the Business, Actor, or Music career
Marry a fellow celebrity but have an affair, it is up to you whether the relationship remains
Have a child with two different partners
