the eurovision song contest was created in the 1950s to form indissoluble bonds between formerly warring european countries. it has ALWAYS been about reconstruction and peace, at its very core. the singing contest is a pretext, and when you tune in to watch the esc you tacitly accept a good chunk of the voting is political (as it always has been). to say ukraine's win defeats the whole point and credibility of the contest is not only factually wrong, but also entirely absurd. if politics are the reigning force behind eurovision, i'd rather they give a well-deserved win and just a tiny bit of happiness to a brutalized country whose culture has been in peril for years.

I'm not a huge believer in petitions and that they can actually change anything, especially in this case, but at this point the situation is so dire that I'm ready to try anything, because I won't forgive myself if I personally won't try everything.

Please take a minute to sign the petition above asking UN to launch an urgent 'extraction' procedure of Mariupol defenders (and civilians that are still there) from Azovstal. We already have no time left, so this needs to be done asap, russian troops already entered some parts of Azovstal and the footage we occasionally still get from there is simply gore. Russian army didn't show any mercy to civilians, so I'm afraid to even imagine what they'll do to Mariupol defenders if they manage to capture them. We could not let that happen!

Organisers said that we need at least 1 000 000 signatures under this petition to be taken even remotely serious. For now we only have quarter of that and we need your help.

Please sign this petition! Please spread it everywhere you can and emphasise to people how urgent this is.

United24 - The initiative of the President of Ukraine

United24 was launched by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy as the main venue for collecting charitable donations in support of Uk

A new official platform for donations to Ukraine has been launched. All donations will be divided into three categories:

defense and demining

medical aid

rebuilding Ukraine

But most importantly, the platform will provide greater transparency on how donations are spent. Reports will be published regularly.

This whole fiasco with simblrs getting yeeted for no good reason has me thinking perhaps I should actually start using it. 🤔 Do we prefer dreamwidth or pillowfort? The cynicism of the fakes filmed by Russia in Mariupol is impressive. On twitter, it seems like every second post tagged with #Mariupol is made up of disgusting Russian lies.

First they destroyed the city, killed thousands of innocent people, now it's reported that they are getting rid of evidence with the help of mobile crematorium. Meanwhile they constantly film fakes, where "grateful Mariupol residents" thank their Russian "saviors" for "liberating" the city from Ukraine.

So I just wanted to show you this rally, which took place in Mariupol near the tragically famous and now destroyed Drama Theater. This happened back in February, two days before the Russian invasion. On that day Putin recognized the "sovereignty of L/DPR", Russian-occupied Ukrainian territories and Putin's puppet "republics." And Mariupol was supposed to be a part of "DPR", Russia said. As you can see, residents of Mariupol didn't agree with this. Some Mariupol residents went to rally after the Russian claims, late in the evening, they sang the anthem of Ukraine, chanted "Slava Ukraini" and told Putin to fuck off.

Now many of them are dead or have lost their loved ones. Now they are homeless and scarred for the rest of their lives. Some of them are forcibly deported to Russia, some are tortured somewhere in the basements by Russian terrorists, and their bodies will never be found.

All this simply because they are Ukrainians.

Russian propaganda doesn't really want you to believe it.

At least not always. The main goal of the Russian propaganda is to confuse you. They create countless different crazy versions of events, making an event that was initially obvious become too confusing and overwhelming to understand. And they are usually quite successful in this.

Russian propaganda does not necessarily want you to believe their truth, it just doesn't want you to believe the actual truth.

They want you to feel like everything is too complicated, even when it clearly isn't. This technique is called "Firehose of falsehood"
