Lately I've just been scrolling through byler on tumblr before I look at my byler board on tumblr and then going to ao3 to hoard byler fics and talking to the homies about byler and writing about byler. I didn't even like this ship until a week ago what's happening

after vecna’s gone, mike gets extremely attached to will. yes, they’ve always been close, but it’s different now. mike knows there’s no danger anymore but after all that happened he just can’t let will be by himself!!! and it’s hard for will, he’s trying so hard to get over him but he can’t say no to mike’s sad puppy eyes that says he can’t sleep if will isn’t next to him. and will knows that this dependency is bad for both of them, and will even feels bad for mike, he’s clearly struggling after jane’s death, so will has to be there. but it’s way more than that, mike just can’t control the way he acts anymore, and will just lets him be crazy. that’s their promise anyways.

one of my favorite things to do in limited perspective is write sentences about the things someone doesn't do. he doesn't open his eyes. he doesn't reach out. i LOVE sentences like that. if it's describing the narrator, it's a reflection of their desires, something they're holding themselves back from. there's a tension between urge and action. it makes you ask why they wanted or felt compelled to do that, and also why they ultimately didn't. and if it's describing someone else, it tells you about the narrator's expectations. how they perceive that other person or their relationship. what they thought the other person was going to do, or thought the other person should have done, but failed to. negative action sentences are everything.

first walk into the upside down for mike and he's freaking out because no one else seems to mind the particles, the slimy surfaces and ever moving vines creeping on the ground except for will, whom he can see minutely shaking, so he glues himself to will's side.

will notices mike's ragged breath as mike falls into step with him, and he lets the back of his hand brush against mike's. that's when mike grabs will's hand thinking, but i can still keep will from freaking out, and will hides a smile, watching as mike's breath slowly gets under control.

i feel like a lot of fics overlook how crazy it would be for byler to get to be openly in reciprocated love with the other. theyd be so annoying about it but also theyd be in much shock. i reckon they spent like half a year randomly interrupting each other with a kiss and just be like "sorry i spent ten minutes thinking about how much i wanted to kiss you and only then realized i actually could so i needed to tell my brain that. keep going"
