Y/N's POV
After a few days with my mom and sister, it was time to go back home and to our racing world.
“Promise you'll write as soon as you land”, my mom said, walking right next to me in the airport.
~Yes, I promise, Mom. You’ll be the first to know as soon as we get home. Now, you promise we'll schedule that trip to Tokyo we talked about. I really want you and Olivia to come visit. ~I said with a pouty expression.
“YES, PLEASE! And you can teach me how to drive and do those spinning things with the car”, my little sister replied.
“I promise, my dear. Just,” she whispered so only I could hear, “no teaching spinning cars things to your sister, please.”
We both laughed and enjoyed those last minutes together.
“Come home more often, please. I know you're safe over there, but I also miss having my 2 beautiful girls around, and Oli misses her big sister”, my mom inquired with a calm tone. “There's something else I would like to talk about before you go.”
Mom and I left my sister with the boys for a few minutes while we sat far from them to have a private talk. It wasn't like I didn’t trust the team to hear whatever mom wanted to talk about, but her tone made it clear she wanted privacy.
"Yeonjun texted me the other day when you were outside with the guys and Olivia at the park."
I froze; my soul left my body for a second and could only ask ~ he did what? Why? Why is Yeonjun texting you? Did you tell him I'm here?~ panicking and rushing through my mind
"Breathe, look at me." She demanded, taking my hand. Mom understood my fear and pain and put together all the pieces of a heart she didn't break but rather built from the very beginning.
"I didn't tell him you were here. I would never do that, but you have to know he's called or texted every week for the past 6 months. Once or twice a week. Actually, he never stopped calling since you got taken away from us. He's been there making sure we are okay, and I know you might feel betrayed, but that's why I'm telling you now. I trust you are mature and will understand. They've all been calling. Soobin, Beomgyu, Taehyun, Kai. All of them, but mostly him. He probably thinks he owes you, and he does. I'm not sure what happened between all of you, but I would never hide something this important to you."
I knew what she meant; I knew she didn’t mean to hurt me. My mom and sister also lost their family when chaos unraveled.
"Your sister misses their older brothers too; you all grew up together."
It all hit me at once. I never considered how all the past situations had impacted them, and I felt so guilty. My sister grew up with them, and destiny took all of that from her.
~Thanks for telling me, Mom. I honestly don't think I'll ever let him back in my life, but I'm glad the rest of the boys looked for me after all this time.~
“Take your time, my love. You don't owe explanations or forgiveness to anyone. I just wanted to tell you when we were together like this, side to side, because you deserve the truth and a real family.”
After a really long hug with both my favorite women on earth, the team and I got on the plane for our flight back home.
Feeling Yeonjun getting closer to my new life made my heart sink, but I wasn't ready to talk about it.
I slept until a couple of hours before we landed back in Tokyo and played Switch with Maki and Yuma the rest of the flight.
“Y/N, are you okay?” Taki asked while we were waiting for our luggage.
~Me? Oh, yeah. Totally fine. Just a bit tired, I really need my bed. Jet lag will be a bitch, I can already feel it.~ I said, trying to sound calm.
“Ok… Let's go home then. I’ll get your suitcase, and you just take my hand and walk half asleep through the airport, deal?” Taki replied with a mischievous smile.
“Nope, I'll take her. Thank you.” EJ intervened. “Knowing you, you'd get lost with her.”
Jin and Fuma laughed, looking at our two younger brothers fighting over who would take me home from the airport, until Jo simply offered to piggyback me all the way to the taxi.
Once we got home, I got in the shower and started unpacking. It was barely 3 pm when I heard a knock on my door.
~Come in!~ I replied.
Jin walked into my room and sat in my bed.
“Are you done unpacking?” He asked absentmindedly.
~Almost, why? Are we going to practice?~
“No, not today. We are all tired. I was thinking about getting something to eat. I'M STARVING,” he screamed while stretching.
~Valid point. Should we get some pizza for everyone and sleep early so we can practice all day tomorrow?~ I asked.
“Great idea, you are clearly my sister.” He replied jokingly. “Hey, I also want your car at the garage tomorrow after practice. Just a routine check-up. Breaks, oil, everything. Can you help me let the other boys know?”
~Sure, I'll text them in the group chat. I'm done, pizza?~
“UGH! YES, PLEASE!” He screamed dramatically once again.
The rest of the day felt like I was just floating around.
My family kept noticing how distracted I was, but I didn’t want to worry them, to be a burden over something that wasn't even in their time.
I knew the day when Yeonjun came back would eventually reach me; I never thought it would be so soon.
I had to focus on my race and practice, so I started bottling up my fear and anxiety. I could deal with my pain later, after winning.
“Y/N?” I heard EJ call.
~What?~ I replied, looking at the boys in front of me
“Are you sure you are okay, sis? You seem a bit lost,” Harua said worriedly. “Are you sick?” He asked again, leaning to touch my face with his hand.
~I’m okay, just tired. Sorry, you were saying? ~
“I was saying Jackson announced he has a new member on his team who is still in training. They'll introduce this person in a couple of weeks and would like to have them race with one or two representatives of every team.”
~That sounds nice. Can I do it?~ I asked excitedly.
“Me too,” K said, sliding a cup with juice to me.
“Sure,” Jin said. “I also have a race for you two,” he said, signaling toward EJ and Nicho, “a week from today. We are running against BangChan's team. They want 2 of our collection cars. I need my best duo.”
K and I looked at each other and then at Jin with an offended look.
“Don’t start, you two,” Fuma said, looking at us with a stern expression.
I started feeling more at ease while watching movies with my youngest brothers the rest of the day.
I started thinking of the race, the track, the feeling of the engine, and the changes in my gearbox. I felt ready to overcome any obstacles this new track could bring.
“Who do you think is Jackson's new team member?” Maki asked while playing with Harua’s hair.
“I don't think we know them. I mean, we ain't that close to his family, but everyone in the area already has a team.” Harua replied.
~I really hope they are a girl, we really need more in this place.~ I said while caressing Yuma's back, who had fallen asleep on the couch we were watching movies on.
“I just hope they are not troublemakers. We don’t need any of those here.” Jo replied while drawing.
*Phone buzzing*: [text from World’s Most Handsome Brother🙄🩷]
[World’s Most Handsome Brother🙄🩷]: “Hey, I couldn’t say much during dinner, but Fuma, EJ, and I would like your opinion on something.”
[Y/N🩷]: ~Sure, what is it?~
[World’s Most Handsome Brother🙄🩷]: “We think it’s time for Taki, Maki, and Harua to learn and start working for the team. No racing yet, just let them know about this industry and see if they want to participate. Like when Jo decided he’d rather design cars than race in them.”
[Y/N🩷]: ~I think that’s a great idea. They’ll be so excited, should I take them to practice with us tomorrow?~
[World’s Most Handsome Brother🙄🩷]: “Yes, please. Also, have Yuma jump in. I need him to race next month, and he’s been slacking on training lately.”
[Y/N🩷]: ~Yes, sir. See you tomorrow morning then.~
[World’s Most Handsome Brother🙄🩷]: “Alright, don’t go to sleep too late, please. Goodnight”
I looked at my baby brothers, knowing a new chapter was coming for them, and felt super excited for them. The way their world would change, their life would take on a whole new meaning.

Yeonjun's POV
"Don't lose it. No, no, not yet," Jungkook said, almost screaming since the engine and sound of my newly provided car were too much.
"Jackson, where did you find this kid? My grandma is blind in one eye and can do it better," Dino said, laughing.
A couple of days have passed since I started my real practice with Jungkook. Jackson decided my perfect car was a Toyota GR86. Beautiful sports car in deep red.
This only meant today was my first day driving this car and actually learning how to drift. First, Jungkook and Mingyu made me drive up and down the mountain to get used to the car, its changes, and different ways to listen to it. Now we were at the very bottom of the place in the resting area, where my whole team was watching me practice.
Timing was my worst enemy at the time. Learning when to release the clutch and keeping the same amount of focus on the wheel was harder than I thought.
The car suddenly stopped, and I heard Jungkook and Mingyu's low laughs.
"How about we take a break?" Mingyu said, getting out of the back seat.
-I can do it, I promise. - I said in a rather desperate tone.
Jungkook and the team looked at me with tender eyes.
"We know you can, Yeonjun. Taking a break is not about how good you are. You and the engine both need some rest. It's almost lunch time, and this is your very first day driving. Come sit with us." Chaeyoung said, smiling at me.
I was finally able to tell my whole story to the team yesterday at dinner. Talking about it without being judged, simply being heard. They understood my desperation to get everything back, but also made me realize what mistakes took me here. Rather than feeling scolded by them, they gave me feedback and started rooting for me.
"They are coming back tomorrow," Jackson announced from behind.
-What? She's coming back? Already? I'm not ready, guys.
"Relax, man. You won't meet her just yet." Dino said, getting closer.
"Correct. They have a race next week, and even though she's one of their best drifters, she still needs to practice." Mingyu spoke.
"Plus," Jackson intervened again, "you are going on a trip with me and DK. We're going to Thailand for 6 days. I have some other friends over there. They also race, and it'd be good to take you out of this place for a while. You need a clear mind away from the mess to get better at racing. Believe me. You are way too vigilant here."
I knew Jackson was right, but part of me felt like I was running out of time. I wanted everything back; I was impatient.
"Junnie," Chaewon called, "we know you want your family back, but, if I may be blunt, impatience already played you wrong once. The time will come," she said in a soothing voice, trying to ease my clear anxiety building up again.
-You are right, thanks, guys. Let's eat, I'm starving- I said, smiling back to my new friends.
That same day, I was able to control the speed and timing in the track the team set up for me. They were all there to support me, give some advice, and even share their most embarrassing drifting experiences to encourage me. I wasn't the best driver on the team right now, but I knew I'd get there no matter what. I had to.
HueningKai's POV
Taehyun and I were cooking lunch for the 4 of us when Soobin's phone started buzzing. We knew it was Y/N's new friends.
A few minutes later, Soobin walked into the kitchen still talking to whoever was on the other side of the line.
"Ok, thanks, guys. Take care. We'll see you soon," he said, ending the call.
"All good?" Beomgyu asked opening a bottle of water since he had just come back from the gym.
"Yeah, Fuma said they want to tell her about Yeonjun in a couple of weeks, since she has a race coming up and they want her to be focused on that for now."
I laughed softly without noticing until I felt my 3 best friends looking at me.
Beomgyu had an eyebrow raised and a curious look.
"Anything on your mind, Huening?" He asked.
I honestly had a lot to say about the whole situation, but at this point, it didn't feel like it mattered.
"No, it's just," I stuttered for a few seconds.
"Hey," Soobin said with a soft voice, "talk to us. What is it?"
I took a deep breath and said, "I think we are fucking up. I know we want to do what's best for her, but if we keep secrets from each other and lie, she'll stop trusting us again. We are on very thin ice with her right now. I'm not willing to lose her again; I miss my family, the trust and love we built. We have to tell her."
Taehyun nodded in agreement next to me.
"Hueningkai is right. In the past, we didn't tell her about our promise to her dad or how many times Yeonjun lied to us about his relationship with Hae Ra. We didn't tell her about us knowing she and Yeonjun were a thing. There were a ton of untold things and, to be honest, I understand her team, but we need to think about OUR family if we really want everything back in place." Taehyun inquired. "Now, I totally get she needs to be focused to race safely and win, so how about we move some pieces here and there? Let her know he's starting to look for us, but don't tell her he's here already. We don't really know much either. We saw him, yes, but we don't know if he saw us or if he stayed in Tokyo or left."
"I see your point. More like giving her a warning rather than scaring her about something that could not even happen," Beomgyu replied.
"Alright, let's start planning again then," Soobin conceded.
I felt relief knowing my brothers were listening to me and remembered I didn't need to keep my feelings and thoughts to myself anymore. I was safe again, and we were getting our lives back on track one more time. Starting over, with the right people this time.
But I still missed my older brother at times. I missed the man I could trust my life with, the one who used to walk with us to school and taught me with patience and love every subject I felt was too difficult. I missed the Yeonjun who showed me I could be the younger brother at times and shared my burdens.

Fuma's POV
After sending Y/N on a shopping day with K, her mom, and sister, Jin and I decided it was time to talk to the rest of my brothers about our current issue back at home.
After waking up and texting Soobin for more context, I talked to Jin.
They were pretty clear about not wanting Yeonjun to find her either, but our worries were different somehow.
They were scared of Y/N getting mad at them because Yeonjun only started looking for her once they left, and it made sense. We, on the other hand, were more worried about her and how this would affect the stability she'd found with us so far.
"Ok, call the boys. It's time for them to know everything," Jin declared.
"Guys, can you all come for a second to the living room?" I asked, knowing my brothers were nearby.
Nicho, EJ, and Yuma were the first to arrive a few seconds later, and Taki, Harua, Maki, and Jo joined us right behind them.
"Everything okay?" Nico asked, walking into the room and sitting on the couch with the rest of them.
"Well, I'd love to say yes, but we have something really important to talk to you all about," Jin responded.
"Without K and Y/N?" EJ asked with a severe tone.
"Yes. Please listen to what Jin and I have to say; questions at the end, and we'll explain everything," I declared with a warm tone, knowing what was coming.
After what felt like forever, Jin and I finished telling my brothers the full story of Jin knowing Yeonjun, me knowing Jin knew him, and us two meeting with him before coming on this trip. I could sense their fury and the heaviness of the room after our confession.
"You have to tell her", Harua spoke first. His tone caught everyone off guard. Cold, calculating, very unusual for him whenever he'd talk to us.
"Wait, we need to really think about this before", Nicholas started speaking
"No, Harua is right", Taki intervened, "We have to let her know what is going on. Whatever comes next should be her decision, not ours."
Listening to that serious tone coming from our youngest brothers felt unusual, unsettling even.
Even Maki, our youngest one, had a serious look standing with them.
"Ok, ok. Wait, guys, I know we are all... concerned right now", EJ said, analyzing the situation, "but I do think just telling her won't do the trick."
"Could I say something?" Jo asked with Yuma next to him.
We were all surprised he spoke up since he's usually the quietest one among all of my siblings.
After getting a small nod from everyone, he continued.
"I think we have to tell her too; however, knowing Y/N and the small amount of information we have about her past and how everything turned out, it needs to be perfectly displayed," he said, turning to Jin and me, "you two need to be ready for her to get mad at you. Even mad at us for not telling her right away. I know we want to protect her, but I don't think protection means leaving her ignorant of what's coming. If she wants this Yeonjun guy back in her life or not, that's her decision to make, and we have to respect whatever she chooses."
At the end of a very long talk, we decided to tell her and K once we were back in Tokyo and after her race next week, otherwise she'd be distracted, and it could be very dangerous for her to race like that.
Yeonjun's POV
I could hear my new team practice as soon as I walked into the building. Jackson and I met with V in the garage area and took me to our training spot. We were in a tall mountain with a huge resting area.
-So I'm driving my way down this mountain as practice?- I asked curiously, getting outside of the car Jackson brought me in. "Nice joke. No, dude, you are training first in this training area. There's no way I'd let you drift all the way from the top for your first training," Jackson answered. As I looked at him with an annoyed face, a silver car stopped right in front of us.
"JK!" I heard V scream from behind, running to the man getting out of the car. He was tall, with dark eyes and hair, a black tank top, and a set of the coolest tattoos I've ever seen.
"Hyung!" he answered, hugging Taehyung. "Jackson, I'm guessing this is the newbie," he said, now giving him a welcoming hug.
He looked at me, and I was finally able to see his features clearly. He had a warm look, like an excited and curious puppy. Big Bobba eyes some could even say.
-Hi, I'm Yeonjun- I said, smiling and offering my hand to shake his. He pulled me in a warm "Bro" kind of hug.
"C'mon, we are brothers now. Tae told me everything about you," he said, letting go.
"Alright, Yunnie." Jackson said, looking at me, "Jungkook here will teach you the basics of racing. Timing, speed, all of it. He's great at racing and a great teacher as well, but pay a lot of attention. This is no game, kiddo."
After saying our goodbyes with V and Jackson, since they had practice and business of their own to take care of, Jungkook and I got into his car.
-This thing is gorgeous, Jungkook-, I said, getting in his car.
"Please call me JK, we'll spend a lot of time together, man. And thanks, this is a Lexus LFA Concept. Honestly, I couldn't really understand why Jackson gave me this car at the beginning, but he's got a great eye for pairing drivers with specific models."
-Ok, so... what now?- I asked excitedly.
"Ok, first and most importantly," he looked at me, "put on your seatbelt," he giggled.
-Oh, right. Sorry-
"Don't be. I'll start explaining while we drive our way up, ok?" he asked with a more serious tone.
-Yes, I'm all ears- I replied, matching his energy.
"Ok, so drifting started a long time ago. The technique was invented by a Japanese motorcyclist. After that, the world and many street racers started mastering the technique with their own cars. Nowadays, drifting is part of culture or even a culture itself. Every person in this team loves and respects this sport enough to be careful about it. Even though we are street racers, we avoid being irresponsible. We don't put anyone else at risk unnecessarily, and no weird businesses blend with racing, ok?"
-Yes. Got it. No funny business, this is a responsible and respectable sport-
"Good, now that we are at the top of the mountain, I'll show you the basics of the technique and how you can feel the changes within the car. It'll be more obvious once you are in the driver's seat, but I need you to actually see it without worrying about driving first. You also need to get used to the speed so you don't get scared while practicing. Concentration and Self-confidence are key to making the right decisions."
Once I looked at the road, I noticed the huge view from the mountain. We could see the whole city. We were getting close to the first set of curves.
"Ok, drifting technique 101. For drifting, you need a car with rear wheel drive and a limited-slip differential, meaning your 2 sets of tires have different functionalities. In this type of car, your engine only sends power to the back tires, allowing the load to be split and your control to be even. Now, once you see you are getting close to the curve, like we are, timing is everything."
I looked at his hands and feet while listening to him with huge focus.
"Now, there are many different techniques. Each of them works for different settings such as narrow places, high speed, etcetera. Basic technique or at least the first one the team taught me", he explained while starting to move his right hand from the wheel, "The clutch-kick technique consists of rapidly pressing and releasing the clutch while on the throttle to shock the drivetrain, causing the rear wheels to lose traction."
Once JK clutched in and out in merely a second, the back part of the car spun only enough to get us through the curve. I could see him keeping a firm hold of the wheel and only letting go a little once we were outside the curve.
"Ok, now, that was a small demonstration. You'll learn more about your car once we know what Jackson is giving you, and then I'll teach you, little by little, the timing, the techniques, and the speed. Let's keep going, and if you have any questions, go ahead. We have all day for this. I have a race coming up, so you'll tag along with me."
I was thankful for having such a great team. Drifting was clearly difficult, but it felt a little less scary having V and JK with me and knowing they'd teach me patiently.
The rest of my day went smoothly, and I had a nice meeting with the rest of the team. Chaeyoung and Chaewon were the only 2 girls in the team, and they were so nice all the time, but really showed their competitive side once Mingyu, Dino, and DK started bugging them at lunch. They made me feel a bit safer after a really long time.
Practice with Jungkook really got me tired, but I knew it would all be worth it once I'd see her again.

Soobin's POV
Huening, Beomgyu, and Taehyun were looking at me with expectant eyes.
After getting back from the market and talking to my brothers about the possibility of Yeonjun coming to Tokyo to look for us and Y/N, we decided we needed to talk to her new friends.
When we were at the diner having lunch, I asked the guy accompanying her for his number. I knew we'd eventually have to talk to them if we wanted to be part of her life.
"Ok, I'll call this dude Fuma to ask him to meet along with the rest of his friends." I declared, looking at my 3 brothers.
"Soob, you think she'll be okay? Shouldn't we call her?" Kai asked with a worried tone.
"I think we should tell her later. We are the main reason why he's looking for her now. We brought him here." Taehyun replied.
I knew what both of them meant and honestly could only fear she'd get mad at us again for bringing him back to her life. I knew Yeonjun as much as I knew myself, and stopping would never be an option for him.
The dial tone started ringing, and a few seconds later, Fuma's voice came through the line. He sounded sleepy and confused.
"Hello?"
"Hey, it's Soobin," I replied
"Soobin? Y/N's friend? Dude, I was sleeping. What's up?"
"We need to talk to all of you. ASAP. Can we meet at the diner?" I started explaining
"Shit, man. It's 2 am here. Listen, we came to visit Y/N's family, and it is really late. I'll text you. I'm pretty sure I know what this is about and we totally need to talk about it, but not right now, ok?"
"What?! Are you in Y/C? Ok, text me and... I know we should probably not ask for this, but please tell Mom and Larissa we love them." I requested while looking at my brothers and their surprised faces.
"Sure, no problem. I'll text you. Bye," Fuma replied, still half asleep.
Beomgyu was the first to talk after a few minutes of unbearable silence.
"So they took her home. That feels wrong somehow. We should be home with them. The three of them."
I could feel the rage, disappointment, and hurt in his voice.
"Beom, we didn't know," Huening said with a soft voice, trying to approach Beomgyu
"No, that's bullshit. He took this from us. That's our family too, and we can't be there because of him. Choi Yeonjun, you are dead when I catch you." he turned to look at us three, "I'm not letting him hurt her again. We will find him and end this once and for all. I don't know how or when, but I want him away, somewhere he can't hurt us again; he doesn't deserve a second chance, no more. He took my sister away from me for the most stupid reason. Protecting her? By letting her go to jail? What type of fucking protection is that?! That's not what we promised her Dad. He just, what, why would we?" he started breathing fast.
"Okay, okay. Look at me, deep breaths." Taehyun said, holding him by his shoulders with a calm voice.
I have seen Beomgyu going through these sudden panic attacks constantly after Y/N was sent away from us. She represented much more than just a friend to us. She brought calm, stability, and happiness when she was around.
A couple of minutes later, we managed to calm Beomgyu's breathing and rage down, then we started planning.
Yeonjun's POV
"Ok, pick up your stuff, kid," V said once we got to my hotel room.
-Thanks again. You have no clue what all this means to me, Tae.- I said while packing all my things up.
"Actually, you are right. I don't know. We still need to have that talk. Come, sit. Tell me everything." He asked.
I took a deep breath and looked at him - ok, but don't kill me. I know I was a coward. I'm not anymore, I promise.- I asked with a worried tone.
"Just start talking before I regret helping you, dude." He said, laughing.
-Ok. I met Y/N when we were in high school. She was new in school, and we became friends in no time. We had a very similar view and opinion of the world and society; I introduced her to the boys, and we all became a family. Her parents became ours at some point, and vice versa. Her dad called us one day to his house. He was a very important businessman and knew some people wanted to hurt him and his family. We promised we'd protect her against anything.
She was in a car accident the next year, and her Dad passed away. She never knew about that talk we had with him; we only made sure she, her mom, and sister were safe.
Y/N covered her baby sister with her whole body during the crash, and we almost lost her. She woke up from a coma a few weeks later to a world without her favorite human being, her partner in crime.
We were there every step of the way; we became even closer after that. Her mom and sister went back to their home country, but she stayed with us in Seoul to build a life. Got into her dream college and started working half-time to support her family. We worked at the same places, same schedules; we were each other's routine.
In our second year of college, I noticed my feelings for her started getting stronger; she wasn't just my best friend anymore. I didn't know if she shared those feelings until- My voice was interrupted by Taehyung's phone ringing.
"Sorry, give me just a sec," he asked while answering his phone. "Hello? Yeah, I'm on my way. See you guys in 10."
He turned to look at me with a soft, almost pitying look, "Sorry, bro. I need to take you to the garage now. I have other business to handle with some friends. We'll finish this talk later, alright?"
-Sure, don't worry. It is a really long story either way.- I said, taking my backpack from the bed.
After what felt like a very short ride, hearing Tae managing different businesses for Jackson and the club, I got to the club's home and unpacked everything.
Jackson left a small note in my new bed that said:
"Get some rest, your training starts tomorrow. 7 am sharp, we'll see you in the garage."
I knew second chances didn't come as often as we wished, and I was about to start a new and difficult life, but I was ready to get back everything I lost.
I placed the last detail of my new room on the table next to my bed. My last photo with her and our last photo with the boys.
-Good night, Moonshine. I'll be home soon.- I said more to my heart than to the picture in front of me.
I fell asleep in no time; tiredness pulling me into memories I wish I could erase.
Yeonjun's dream:
"Getting out of Hae Ra's house after seeing Y/N on the TV, I checked my phone and saw a voicemail from her.
The moment I played it, I knew it was too late; she'd already given herself to the police.
"Hey, I know you're so damn mad at me right now, I can picture your face, and that killing stare."
She knows me too well...
"I'm sorry, but I could never go on seeing my boys locked up; we both know Kai is too bright to be in jail. Anyways, let's make this end, shall we? The rest of the money- she stops in her tracks, and I can hear her laugh a little - yes, I didn't listen to you once again, the rest of the money is in The Sky; take it and go get the guys, find a new life far away from here, Switzerland maybe? Taehyun always wanted to go there with everyone. Get a new life, not like the one we had until now. One that's worth living, one that makes everyone envy you, boys. Please make things up with them.
I'm sorry I couldn't keep my promise. I ended up falling deep for you, maybe too much. It's okay if you don't feel the same. I just needed to get it off my chest. -She had no idea how much I loved her - I'm going now. Take care of our little family, please. I know if you tell them the truth and give them time, they'll follow you to the end of the world.
See you..."
My alarm took me out of my hunting memories at 5:00 am. Only then did I notice the tears running down my face. Like ghosts reminding me of my past life, of the girl I love.

Yeonjun's POV
After leaving Jin's garage, I knew I had to look for a strategy to get my family back, and that now was probably not the moment to show up at her door.
I needed to be smart and careful with my next step and how I'd approach all this madness.
Jin was right; I didn't know this new version of Y/N, but I for sure knew her core, and that was something they didn't have.
I needed to take care of one situation at a time. I had to find my brothers first and ask them to help me.
I knew they had to be near her, so I got a room in a small hostel close to the garage. After settling in my room, I got in the shower and allowed the water to wash away all my anxiety.
Sleeping was the perfect option at the time since it was late and I was really tired after my flight. I could always look for them tomorrow.
The night was cold, and soju tasted bitter once more. I remember Y/N's dad used to say it would taste sweet when you had a good day, guess I haven't had one of those in a while.
I allowed myself to be swallowed by tiredness and fall asleep faster than usual.
After I woke up the next morning, planning was my main task.
Finding my brothers.
Getting to know more about her new life
Making myself part of that new life.
I got a small backpack with my things and started looking for a small apartment in the Garage's area.
I had money to survive for a while, but eventually I would need a job or a way to get money. I remembered an old friend I met at the same time as I met Jin. Thank god I had his IG and sent a DM to meet as soon as I got off the plane last night.
"Yeonjun, my man! How are you, dude?"
-Taehyung! Hi bro, I'm good. Thanks for coming
"Are you sure you are okay? You've lost weight. C'mon, let's get some breakfast."
After a long session of Tae's reality check, once I told him the whole story, and a lot of begging from me, he agreed to help me settle in Tokyo and make things right.
"Listen, Yeonjun, I haven't talked much with her, but Jin has told me she's got character. You'd better do this the right way, or you and I both will end up dead, clear?"
-Cristal. I promise Tae, this time I'm doing things right.-
"Ok then. I think I have the perfect settlement for you, but we're gonna need help. Let's go. I'll introduce you to one of my friends who also happens to own a garage and racing team."
Taehyung took me to meet Jackson Wang that same day. He apparently knew Jin pretty well when it came to business, but they were never friends. Not close friends, at least.
Jackson and Tae talked for a while until he also agreed to teach me how to drive for racing and help me get back on my feet.
"Yeonjun, come here, man," Jackson called me, "listen, I'll help you out if you help me out. This will be a business between you and me, no one else, okay? I'll train you, and you'll win races for me. We split the money 60-40, you get your world back together, and I grow my garage and team. Deal?"
I knew this opportunity wouldn't come again and immediately shook Jackson's hand in agreement after getting an approving nod from Taehyung.
-Deal, thanks a lot, man- I said, smiling at both of them.
"OK!" Taehyung said, "I'll take the boy to pick up his stuff and bring him back here so you can tell him where he'll be staying. Thanks a lot, Jackson."
"Anytime, brother. Don't forget your promise for my next party, though," Jackson replied with a big smile.
After going back to the Hostel and picking up all my things, I was driving around with Tae for some errands. We got to a small market where he wanted to buy food and other things for his condo when I saw Hueningkai and Soobin walking around with many bags filled with food, and my heart immediately skipped a beat.
I wasn't ready to see them again, and I knew they'd kill me if we met at this time, so I hid behind a small stall in a flower shop.
I know I said finding them was part of the plan, but I wasn't ready to talk to them, and they weren't either. I needed to prove myself to all of them, and that would take time; I wanted to be the man who could finally take care of all of them the next time they saw me. That day wasn't today.
"What are you doing?" Taehyung asked, making me snap out of my internal panic. He then followed my gaze and said, "Oh. Are those your brothers? Damn, that was quick. Let's go, you look like you've seen a ghost, and you are clearly not ready for that talk with them."
I was always thankful to have such great friends around, like Tae. He was more mature than me and was always willing to help me.
"That half star in your finger", Tae asked while driving, "you got that tattoo with her, didn't you?"
I looked at my hand with pain and sorrow. Y/N and I were once united by more than our family. We were one and madly in love.
-Yeah, without her... this is just a doodle that lost its meaning. We got this tattoo when we were around 20 years old, a ring wasn't enough for two young lovers, I guess-
"And you let her go?" He asked, "Why? You were so in love."
-Oh, bro, there's a lot she doesn't know. A lot I left behind just to protect her... or at least trying to. I made promises I wasn't able to keep- I answered with a sad tone.
"So you did all that bank shit, and you broke her heart, to protect her? That makes no sense, child," Taehyung stated.
-I promise I'll tell you everything soon, bro. It will all make sense once I'm able to put the puzzle back piece by piece-
Beomgyu's POV
While my brothers and I were buying groceries around town and exploring the area to find the best stores to shop at, a weird sense of unease built in my chest. It was like my whole system wanted to warn me about something, and then I saw him. He's here, Yeonjun was here.
It was a split second, but I'd recognize any of my brothers by a glance. He was in that green Porsche Cayman that drove next to us.
"Shit", I murmured. "Soobin!" I called, "We need to go home, now."
Huening and Soobin gave me a weird look until Taehyun said, "You saw him too, didn't you?"

Jin's POV
I was still in the garage working along with Fuma, who was taking a later flight with me since we had business to take care of regarding money and the upcoming race. I knew sending Y/N on the flight with K was a good idea; I didn't know how good until I heard a knock on the office door and saw him standing right in front of me.
"So, you're finally here. Took you long enough... Choi Yeonjun," I said, looking at him with, "I thought we agreed on you never coming back here looking for her as long as I adopted her."
-I know, I'm sorry, I just- he tried explaining
"You just decided being alone wasn't for you", Fuma said, walking into my office with anger filling his face.
I met Yeonjun a few years back during one of his many college trips. We became close at some point until he went back, and I decided Tokyo was my new home. When all the mess unraveled, he called me asking for help; I got him the house in Switzerland and everything they needed.
A few years later, he called again, asking me to take care of Y/N; at first, I wasn't sure, but the minute I met her, I understood why he was asking me to protect her.
It was my deepest secret, and I never planned for anyone to know I knew Yeonjun; however, he called one day looking for me, and Fuma answered the phone. Yeonjun told him his name, and I ended up telling him everything. He was the only one aware of everything, and also decided she didn't have to know. It would hurt her even more.
-So, you knew I was coming.- he asked
"Of course, I knew Yeonjun, you quit your job and all. Remember who helped build that life? Let me ask something more interesting: what are you doing here? Why now? She is happy again, has found stability and love. What do you want from her now?"
-Jin, listen, I know that was all my fault. Believe me when I say I regret it all. Losing her, losing them, letting the love of my life go...-
"Oh God, cut the crap, dude. The love of your life? One never does something like that to the ones he loves." Fuma said spitefully to Yeonjun.
-And who are you to say anything here, huh? I don't even know you, man. You know nothing about me, my family, or her.- Yeonjun answered, getting mad at Fuma's response.
"Fuma, let's breathe, brother. Go check on everything before we leave, please. I'll take care of this." I said, putting my hands on his shoulders, trying to cool down the room. "You, sit. We'll have a chat." I told Yeonjun, watching Fuma walk away.
"Okay, why are you here, Yeonjun?" I asked with a severe look.
-I want my family back, Jin. After the boys discovered the truth and left, after I lost it all, I knew I had to come get them back. I'm not saying I deserve forgiveness, but I just need a chance to make things right- he paused for a couple of seconds and said - I loved her, Jin. I realized it too late, but... She's the love of my life, and they are my family; I want all of them back. I know I can make it work again. I'll do anything.-
"You'll do anything?" I asked, raising an eyebrow, "Good, then leave." I answered with a cold glare.
-What? Jin, come on. She belongs with me; they all do. I brought her into your life, and it's not your decision to make.- He answered
"Yeonjun... if you love her... I mean, look at her life now. She has siblings, a career, someone who loves her deeply, and a best friend who would kill for her." I answered, signaling at the door Fuma went through minutes ago.
-We were once all of that for her and maybe even more. We can be that again. I am here to fight for the family I had back then, Jin. Now, where is she?- He asked with an annoyed tone.
"Far from here," I said. "The second I heard you were coming, I sent her away with our family. Listen, I know I can't stop you, nor do I have the right to. I'll let her make that choice; just give her time to come back and settle her mind," I sighed. "She's changed, Yeonjun. You better be ready for war, though..."
"Because we ain't letting you take her away from us," Fuma ended my sentence from the door. "We have to go, Jin."
I took my backpack from Fuma's hand and said, "This is war, Yeonjun, and we have the perfect army for it. You better be ready".
After that, Fuma and I closed the garage and drove to the airport to sleep and wait for our flight.
We settled our luggage in the small hotel capsules we were spending the night in and went to have a very late dinner.
"Jin, what's the plan now that he's back?" Fuma asked with a worried tone.
I knew what he meant; we'd have to tell her everything, and she'd probably be disappointed or even feel betrayed knowing it wasn't the universe that sent me to her.
"I don't know. You're her best friend, what do you have in mind?" I asked, trying not to think about losing my baby sister.
"We need to tell the guys... not only my brothers but... her past family too. Although he'll probably get to them before we do. After that, we can plan how to give her the news and tell her about your past with Yeonjun."
"Yeah, sounds good to me. I just don't want her to feel any pain or stop trusting me. She's my family, man."
"I know, she's our family. That's why I told Yeonjun, we ain't giving her up; I know it's not our decision to make, but we'll do everything we can to keep her close and safe."
***Phone buzzing***
"That's EJ. They landed safely and are now on their way to Y/N's family home."
"Good. We should go to sleep, Fuma. We'll have a long flight and an even longer week being away from home," I said, finishing my coffee and paying for all the food.
"Oh, Jin. I almost forgot, with all the mess, your special order is almost ready. I think it would be a nice Christmas gift," Fuma whispered, showing me pictures the seller sent.
"Perfect. I hope she likes it," I answered, smiling at the sight of the neon blue car.
A few hours later, Fuma and I landed in Y/C and took a taxi to my sister's home.
~Finally!~ she screamed, running to us.
As soon as she reached my arms, I hugged her tight, feeling the familiar warmth. She looked so happy being back home.
"Hey, where's my hug?" Fuma interrupted with a pouty face.
She then ran to him, and we all went inside her house and met her mom and sister.
Seeing Y/N so happy around them reminded me of all the things I had to protect and that I'd be willing to do anything and fight anyone to make sure that smile never faded ever again.
This had to be a perfect week before the storm hit us once we were back home.

Y/N’s POV.
“Everything okay, love?” K asked from behind.
~Yeah, it’s just Taehyun. They want to have lunch together.~
“Are you sure you want to go? I can go with you, if you need me to,” Fuma said, walking closer to us.
K and Fuma were always great friends. My safe place, most of all.
~I’d love that.~ I answered, smiling at both of them.
We finished reviewing all necessary details with Jin and the team, and after a couple of hours, said our goodbyes since I had to meet my… friends?
Fuma drove us to the location I picked, and we exited the car.
“Are you nervous?” he asked after glancing at me as we went through the diner’s door.
All I did was smile at him; of course, I was nervous. Getting used to having them around again wasn’t an easy task.
“Y/N! Just in time,” Soobin said from a booth in the back.
“And you brought company,” Beomgyu said with a rather sarcastic tone.
“Hey, I’m Fuma. Y/N’s best friend,” Fuma added, trying to break the tension in the room. “I’m just here to drop her and take her back home; the owner is a friend of mine. Sunshine,” he said now looking at me, “I’ll be at the bar. Just tell me when you’re ready to go”.
I saw Fuma walking away and finally sat next to Beomgyu.
~So, you wanted to talk to me,~ I said nervously.
“Sorry, I just noticed… he called you Sunshine?” Taehyun asked, surprised.
I forgot they had heard that nickname before. What am I supposed to say now?
~Ah, yeah. He doesn’t know the story behind it, though. He saw one of my photos with dad and a message he wrote behind it; he thought it was a cute nickname and started using it. It felt good being called that in such a loving way again, so I let him use it~ I confessed.
“I’m happy you found a new family, Y/N,” Soobin said with a sad tone.
~I miss my old family sometimes, too, ~ I said, taking Huening’s hand in mine.
After hearing me say it, they looked at me and smiled while looking at each other.
“I’m so glad you say that,” Huening answered, looking at the rest, “because we’d like to stay here and be part of your life again. We know it won’t be the same, and there are many things to work on and heal together, but if you let us, we’d love to start over with you, sis.”
“You don’t have to answer now; we know it’s a lot to take in, and very unexpected. Take your time, we can wait forever if you need us to.” Taehyun added with a calming look.
“Enough with the seriousness,” Soobin added, “we want to hear everything about your life here, if you’d like to share it with us, Y/N.”
“Yes, please! Since when do you drive, girl? Do you still bake? Can I get some chocolate cake soon? I’d die for your chocolate cake. Can we see your car? Are you…”
~Beom, chill. Haha. I’ll tell you everything you want to know, but can we eat first? I’m starving.~ I answered, stopping Beomgyu’s sudden questioning.
We spent the next few hours talking about my life in Tokyo, how everything went on after I was released, and the racing world I was part of, as well as their life with Yeonjun and Hae Ra, and all the information they kept from them over the past 3 years.
“I’m sorry to interrupt, guys,” Fuma said, approaching our booth. “Darling, we have to go. Jin is calling,” he stated, looking at me with a bright smile.
~Oh God, it’s so late. I’m sorry, boys, I have to practice for the next race and deal with some other things.~
“That’s okay, sis; send the date and time for the race. We´d love to be there,” Huening answered excitedly.
~Oh, I’d love that. I’ll text you in the new group chat all the details, okay? See you around, boys~ I said, gathering all my stuff and saying my goodbyes.
Fuma and I drove back home, talking about how I was feeling with the boys being back, and I concluded wanting them back in my life, but it would take a while. I had many lovable memories with them and missed them, but that would not change the way I felt before, when I didn’t know the whole picture from their point of view.
Once my best friend pulled over in front of our house, I went inside looking for Jin without success. After a few minutes, I found a small envelope on the dining table addressed to me.
"Dearest Y/N,
We’d love to inform you that you are the winner of a 5-day journey to Y/C with your amazing family of 10.
We know it’s been a long time since you've been away from your family, and we want to reward you with the best experience ever.
P.S. This was your handsome brother’s amazing idea.
Yours truly, Nicho, K, Fuma, Yuma, Harua, Taki, Maki, Jo, EJ & Jin."
I couldn’t believe it, I was going home?
“Surprise!” they screamed from behind while turning the lights on.
I could finally look at the room properly; everything was decorated, and confetti was flying around my friends, my family.
~Oh my God, you guys! Thank you so much. Oh lord, I’m crying now~ I said, tearing up.
“No! Don’t cry!” Jo said, hugging me while laughing with the rest.
After a few minutes of me crying and the boys explaining how they planned everything, they gave me a plane ticket for the next day at 9 pm.
~Wait, so soon?~ I asked surprised.
“Well, you have a race next week, and we wanted to give you enough time with your family,” Jin answered.
I then noticed K was approaching me with his arms open, “By the way, I haven’t gotten a hug yet,” he said with a pouty face.
“Jesus Christ, dude, you’re giving us diabetes!” EJ said, covering Taki, Maki, and Harua’s eyes, along with Fuma and Nicho.
We all laughed while I hugged K, and Jin finally said, “All right, children; time for bed. You have a flight to catch tomorrow, and I have things to finish setting up before my flight the next day. Sis, I knew you’d love the idea, now go to bed.” he stated before kissing my forehead and hugging me.
After that, we all went to bed, and it finally sank in: I was returning home to surprise my mom and sister. Excitement built inside me, and I fell fast asleep while thinking of all the things I wanted to show the boys.
Before I realized, it was already 11 am, and I had a lot of stuff to do, like packing for my trip and buying souvenirs for my family.
At 5 pm, we were having lunch at the airport and waiting to board the flight at the designated time for us. I was so happy to be able to hug my mom again, and had a bunch of gifts and stories for my baby sister.
“Okay, everyone, we have a 17-hour flight ahead of us. Everyone has their devices, movies, and all necessary things ready?” EJ asked the group.
“Yes, sir!” they all answered.
A few minutes later, we boarded the plane, and I sat next to K.
“Ready, beautiful?” he asked, putting his hand on my shaking knee.
~Yeah, just a bit nervous.~ I answered, smiling at him.
“Try to sleep, it’s a long flight, and you’ll need energy once we get there,” he answered, hugging me.
K made me feel safe, at peace. I was grateful to the universe for sending Koga to me.
K’s POV/mind
Calm down, Koga. It’s not the time to tell her how you feel; we need to be sure first. You don’t want to make her feel pressured, right? Wait until you reach your destiny and have time for just the two of you.
