A mother's love, coveted by all, and mourned so dearly. Pity those who were robbed of this bond.

it's always "immortals always lose the ones they love!" and never "this family has had this incredible, powerful, loving figure present through generations of their lineage, all because they are descended from someone the immortal loved long ago" and i think that's a shame!!
The loss trope is almost always played out as part of the immortal’s growth, as if learning to be vulnerable and connected with the world in spite of pain and death was something only an immortal has to face. But we all do. I heard a story once about an old famous musician, rich and well known in his youth, who died in his late 90’s. And his funeral was almost empty because most of his friends had died, and the few that remained were too sick to travel. You do not need centuries to become an island lost in time. It can happen in years.
I’d like to see an immortal who crossed that bridge already. Who has used their endless expanse of time to become more human, and not less. To love in the way we all should, with the knowledge that one day this will end, and all you will have are memories. To want those memories so intensely it’s almost unsettling.
@billgenbrough why are you whispering ideas that need to be yelled? Love this. Love this love this love this.
