Hello tumblr Lies of P community, I’m actually not quite sure if this information has reached here (apparently way back during St. Patrick’s day there was someone calling this out) but basically I discovered that NEOWIZ has opened a job position for a generative AI creator, which as a vehement hater of gen AI I find disappointing and downright stupid

Now I haven’t played Lies of P (not because I don’t want to, it’s because I have a 4+ year old laptop that couldn’t possible run it properly) but I find this insulting to all the artists who put hours of their time on this game, so I was able to find a way to contact NEOWIZ through this link

The main points of my emails were me expressing my disappointment on their decision (as well as specifying that it is an opinion many others share), mentioning how AI steals others’ work and has replaced many artists already, and that in general they should back out of this decision because more people will like their games if they do

I’ve never checked the LoP tags (because I’m avoiding spoilers) so there’s a chance others have already brought this up and maybe there’s an entire boycott happening that I don’t know about, but basically I’m sharing this because maybe if enough people write to NEOWIZ they’ll actually read what we have to say and consider backing out; it might be wishful thinking on my part but I REALLY want to play this game and i’d feel a very bitter taste in my mouth knowing any and all future content it might get could be made with generative AI

Though disappointing I can’t see I’m surprised; on a more positive note, many in the official discord server are up in arms about it and are filling the feedback channel with paragraphs explaining why they will no longer support the company should they go this route, so that’s at least a little comforting ❤️

My main worry is that because there was already an instance of generative slop being used by this company in relation to LoP (aforementioned St. Patrick’s day post, now deleted, where the text was AI generated, as well as it seemingly being used in background paintings) that was addressed by the moderators in the official discord, saying that they “messed up” and wouldn’t use it again, there’s a chance that NEOWIZ/Round8 will tell us that they’ve backed out of generative slop usage, but could simply be lying to our faces AGAIN and end up using it anyways in all future projects

Still, we should stand firm and keep messaging them about this; also boycott, I for example haven’t bought the game yet and will refuse to buy any merch (and maybe we could also boycott all their other games, just to be extra sure)

While I am glad they actually made a statement, the wording is still far too vague for my liking, and just because they state this generative slop will not be used for LoP’s sequel, we A. Have no way of knowing if this is actually the plan or if they’re just saying this in hopes that we’ll calm down and drop the conversation, and B. This is still using AI!! They claim that all assets used are their own property but the job opening was looking for someone who could programs such as midjourney, which is specifically trained on the COUNTLESS work of thousands of uncredited artists who had their art scraped without their permission!!!

I don’t want any AI in this game, regardless of if it’s just for the early stages, and it still bothers me that, should they stick to their word and not actually use generative slop for the game’s sequel, clearly they plan on using it for other games; why are you excluding LoP specifically Round8 studios, is it because you realized you could lose tons of money if the sequel to your critically acclaimed game contains AI slop and are just now backtracking? Do you not value the artistic integrity of any of your other works to the point where you feel it’s okay to use gen AI for THOSE?

This is still not enough, we need them to make a proper statement, not a vague message in a news article or in the private replies of the people who emailed you regarding the situation; keep messaging them to back out of AI completely!! As well as asking them to remove the AI paintings found scattered around the DLC!!!

This is BAD bad for them, like they’ve probably tanked their reputation at this point

Still no proper response actually explaining the length they want to go with their generative slop, and they STILL haven’t removed the AI generated paintings found in the DLC

Once again, keep talking!! Don’t buy ANY of their products, keep sending them emails, and while you’re at it, you could even give the original LoP a bad review on steam, see if maybe THAT will hit them where it hurts

Earlier today they announced a “complete” bundle of the game that will be releasing on the switch 2; once again I ask that you do not give them your money (I personally have been avoiding buying merch as well as buying the actual game) and that you keep writing to them until they make a proper statement!!

personally I am of the opinion that vegans who are like “the way our food system currently works under capitalism on a large scale is exceptionally cruel to all animals including humans and is not sustainable, so I’m doing what I can to make the most ethical choices available to me about what I eat and encourage others to do the same” are generally very reasonable people who I agree with in spades. but vegans who seem to think human beings are not themselves animals who are ultimately also part of the food chain but instead some kind of other paternalistic higher entity that can never engage in ethical and sustainable hunting practices (and especially the fringe I’ve seen who think other carnivorous animal predators are also evil and need to be eliminated) are people I regard as foolish at best if not actively anti-indigenous and racist

i feel terrible everytime i think about how much baby harumi would have looked up to the green ninja if her parents hadn't died that day, and lloyd would've felt so many mixed feelings when meeting an innocent little girl while knowing what she will do in the future. But lloyd being lloyd would still do his best to be a hero and save the day.

Your version of Baby Saja is so compelling to me its entirely your fault he's one of my favorites. I've been rereading your fics to scratch the itch but I have run out XD Any recs? Or sneak peeks? Any characterization or character dynamics stuff youre looking for an excuse to ramble about? Every time I infect people with my moderate to severe case of Baby Saja Brainworms, I grow stronger. I’m glad you enjoy my characterizations!! They’ve made it a lot more fun to write since I can add in more characters to the kpdh fics as I please!

If you’re ever curious how I got here, the pipeline went: I dunno if I’m interested in the other Saja Boys as much but their songs are bangers. I especially love these rap breaks -> Okay there is some unique body language going on for the other Saja Boys, I can work with that. Huh, this ‘Baby’ guy kinda hangs around Jinu a lot -> Wouldn’t it be funny if the guy named ‘Baby’ was actually the oldest. Yeah I’m doing that, I can do fun things with that. I think Jinu should still be on the older side though, maybe they can be the two oldest -> Okay how did Baby and Jinu meet and what’s their relationship like -> I should probably figure out what everyone’s backstories/histories are -> Huh I think Baby is becoming my favorite Saja Boy aside from Jinu? -> oh no -> Oh No. -> *You Are Here*

ANYWAYS, fic recs… For specifically my favorite Baby Characterizations, of the ones I’ve read, Crashout and Precipice are probably some of my favorites. Also not to be biased but Baby in Breaking and Entering from The Tiger Knows The Way series (and @trishacollins’ works in general) are also ones I very much enjoy. I don’t often find works where Baby is the oldest/one of the oldest but when I do, I admittedly tend to favor them! Kinda got attached to the hc as you can see.

As for Sneak Peeks, I absolutely have those. I’ll put them under a read more!

From ‘I’ve Always Liked To Play With Fire’

“Sure.” Jinu says slowly, a little placating. “But you seemed a bit… Tense. The last time we saw each other.”

“We don’t have to talk about it.” Baby’s mouth presses into a hard line. I don’t want to talk about it, is what Jinu hears.

Jinu hesitates slightly. Then determination has him narrowing his eyes and pushing on. “Whatever you’ve done,” he says, “Whatever deal you made with Gwi-Ma, I don’t care. That’s your business. Your past life. I’ve never known whoever you used to be, I only know you. So stop being a coward and avoiding me. It’s insulting.”

Baby’s eyes spark with something at his words. There’s a pause, then he snorts, surprising Jinu, and shakes his head. “So the songbird has some bite, does he?”

Jinu finds himself smiling. “Yeah, he does. So, are you gonna give me the house tour or not?”

With a slight roll of his eyes, Baby gestures Jinu to follow him as he turns around. “Yeah, alright. It’s long overdue anyways.”

(This is from a short multichapter fic I really need to work on more that uses the ‘Gwi-Ma is Baby’s father’ tag with my own spin on it. I have like 6k of the first chapter done and I really like this moment. As you can probably guess from my other works, I enjoy Baby & Jinu’s dynamic immensely.)

From ‘The Light Beneath The Earth’

“She’s got Jinu.” Baby repeats what they all know, mostly to wrap his head around the idea. Demons store souls to deliver to Gwi-Ma all the time but Rumi is a Hunter and distinctly isn’t carrying it where it should be. Rumi is down in the demon realm with the rest of them, a Hunter among demons, a lone wolf against a hostile pack. Rumi is stuck, the same as the rest of them, but there’s no telling how she’ll react when she wakes up. If she can still summon her sword, she might just slaughter them all, without breaking a sweat.

Burned, he burned for her, for a Hunter, why why why—

“She does.” Romance’s voice rings in his head, unsettlingly calm and composed. “And what do you think we should do about that?”

She has his soul. Killing her would be an easy way to forcefully get it back.

But then it would all be for nothing.

A Hunter is a powerful ally, if she doesn’t kill you all first.

Why didn’t she kill Jinu?

She did, if you really think about it. An accomplice if nothing else.

Jinu chose to jump into the line of fire. To get his soul stuck with a Hunter. Four-hundred fucking years, gone in the blink of an eye.

No, not a blink. You didn’t blink. You saw it all.

Great plan, songbird. Now even the Hunter you tried to save might die down here.

Get it together. Make a damn choice.

“You’re right; Gwi-Ma will want a scapegoat and that probably means us. We need to run and hide, and we’re taking the Hunter with us.” Baby says definitively. It’s a little easier to breathe once he’s chosen a path. “Abby, you carry her.”

(Wanted to do a spin on ‘Rumi gets stuck in the demon realm’ and ended up with a story that got away from me a bit, in the best way possible. Wrote the intro chapter in Baby’s perspective. He’s having a normal one.)

And last one for now, ‘If You Want To Flay Me (Let’s See What’s Inside)’

Well. Except for him, apparently, even if the details are fuzzy, at the very edges of his mind, but Baby isn’t counting himself. He’s clearly fine— regeneration hasn’t started yet and he’s conscious. If he’s not dead yet, he’ll recover in a few days tops.

Abby and Zoey both pant in the aftermath, reeling from the fight. Baby decides it’s as good of a time as ever to make himself useful and pushes himself to his feet. It’s harder than it usually is because his legs are numb and his body is trembling, a sharp pain shooting through him, but Baby pushes himself through it anyways. He’s obviously fine if he’s awake and still able to move. One nasty-looking cut isn’t gonna stop him.

At last, he’s on his feet and stumbling towards the pair, more uncoordinated than he’s ever been in his life. Abby notices him first, alarm filling his eyes immediately. “Baby, what are you doing!” He raises his voice to a yell, panic evident and alerting Zoey at the same time. Her face goes pale upon looking at him.

(A little Baby Whump for the soul. Being accustomed to violence means you’re accustomed to it happening to you too, after all. I think I might make this ZoeyBaby but it might end up as Zoey/Baby/Abby too, we’ll see what I’m in the mood for!)

Fair warning that all WIPs might have some wording adjusted whenever I post them but for now, that’s what I got! Hope that satisfies something!

Just watched Adam Conover (of Adam Ruins Everything) make such a solid point that I think we should spread far and wide. Yes, having AI write your emails is lazy, sure, but people love being lazy. We need to really emphasize that sending AI emails (or using AI responses on social media, or publishing AI flyers, or or or) is rude.

It's rude. You're making someone take their time to read something you couldn't bother to write. You're telling them they were so unimportant you couldn't be bothered to actually take the time to say something yourself. And frankly, you're lying about it while you're at it.
