Ooo probably wouldn’t be sharing my Instagram username so publicly. In any case... I hope you have a great day and have nothing but happiness come your way!

how can one maintain 'istiqama?
By making zikr... alone... in the dark.
How have you treated Ramadan this year?
May I reach next years Ramadan. I sure need it.
what is 'freedom'?
To drive around at night, sit by the pier and gaze at the stars... in peace.
would you tell me another?
It is related that an Amir once asked his vizier to engrave him a ring with a statement which, if read during times of happiness would make him feel sad, and if read in times of sadness will make him feel happy. The vizier choose to engrave the ring with the statement: “this time shall pass.”Whoever you are my friend, whatever waiting you are doing, know that the period of waiting shall pass. A destination shall soon be reached.

Tell me a story that will make waiting easier
Ahmed loved a girl. He’s friend also love this girl. The girl loved Ahmad’s friend and not him. Ahmad was angry upon being told this fact. He felt sad in the first week, accepted the decision by second month and eventually felt at ease by the third year. All the while he continued with his life and painfully waited for life to offer something, anything.
In another time zone, a lady whom he never met nor ever spoke to, was going through her own journey. Her life journey cross paths with Ahmed’s. She loved him and he loved her. Today he calls her his wife.
Ahmad realised that fate had him wait for something he did not know, nor could imagine. Though he felt like waiting was a stagnant point in his life, he actually realised that the wait itself was actually a journey. He was journeying though time to the destination at the end of the wait. A destination, the description of which, is known only to God.
What I would like written on my tombstone?
“A nothing the son of nothing, but of those that professed God’s Oneness and Muhammad’s truthfulness.”
A daily reminder to both you and I: أذكر الله Remember God

This whole thing where we photograph everything that we do is making everything superficial and robbing us of experiences being truly transformative. I think of something like people going to museums where seeing art is supposed to be transformative but instead people just take pictures in front of things. No time to sit in front of art or scenery to think. That’s just one example though. I hate to sound like a bitter 80 year old woman but when I was with one of the other grad students in Chicago, she insisted on taking pictures with anything and everything. Which is fine. It’s forgivable. It’s just not how you experience things.
I’m going to use this post to vent my frustration at people who, during this year’s Eid prayers, chose to take photos at each and every stage of the event. I mean photos of the congregation during the opening takbeer when standing up to pray, photos during the sermon, and even photos during the actual prayers.
And many of these people are 40something or 50something year old dads.
I know a bit off the topic from the actual post but, guys, please never turn into those people. Take mad selfies, squad selfies, food selfies, #BlackOutEid shots… but never take photos when standing up to pray.

What are your Instagrams guys! To be honest, I’m on the Gram more than I am here and would definitely be cool if we follow each other there! My snapchat is shambles so you’ll literally see me post trash from my life if you want to be friends there too.
