There are substantial bird and bat kills from wind turbines, because, believe it or not, birds and bats will not win in a fight against wind turbines. It is one of the few industries that gets an exemption from the ESA requirements in order to get lots of incidental take permits. They get expedited “kill permits” or take permits in comparison to other industries.
In other words, it’s not ok to kill endangered species … unless you’re a wind turbine company. Then it’s ok.
Additionally, at this point the only thing that is making the building of wind turbines possible and remotely “affordable,” even though it costs millions of dollars, is the government subsidies that goes into it. Pay close attention to the graph shown in the video about five minutes in.

This is a video I took of the wind tower farm just north of where I live in Minnesota. The nearest wind tower is a quarter of a mile away and this is what they sound like. Now, this isn’t what all wind towers sound like because there are different models and versions, but this is a pretty common model for this area.
That high pitched squealing sound that gets louder and softer is only one of the sounds that the wind towers make. This happens all day and all night and never stops. It can also be heard even a half a mile away which is the distance a landowner’s wind-rights extend.
People have to live near these things and this is what they get to listen to.

I’ve created this account in order to bring to light some of the affects that wind towers (AKA wind turbines) have upon people and nature. I live among them in the rural Midwest and really just want people to know what wind towers are really like. All that will be posted here will be merely facts or observations I have on wind towers.
So I will be posting information, articles, and videos in the future.
I hope I’m able to help people better understand just what wind towers, and wind energy are all about.
