I wrote a whole blurb about them thinking it was saved, only for my laptop to unexpectedly reboot when I took a break, so this is my second time writing this lol
Why I love MistyLot and why it should be canon
â° so, I'm personally the fondest of teen MityLot, specifically after Lottie gets her shit rocked by Shauna in s2 ep7, bc Misty gets to do what she does best, and that's taking care of someone who has no choice but needing her!
â° Lottie is someone who clearly didn't have very present people in her life. She was kind of given the "money instead of parenting" kind of treatment if you get me. She had everything she could want, except for her parent's attention. I like to think her mother tried her best, as we do see her show concern for her daughter, but ultimately her father controls the family dynamic
â° and then we have Misty who we know next to nothing upbringings, except that her parents are in the medical field. I personally headcanon that her parents were a really sweet and doting couple, but almost to the point of being overbearing. Misty gets her craving for attention from her parents because she's grown up with that dynamic and thinks it's completely normal. But they also taught her the importance of taking care of the people you love by any means necessary
â° While this definitely isn't the healthiest dynamic, (but let's face it, who actually has a healthy dynamic in Yellowjackets?) in a weird way it works for the two of them. Misty has someone to look after and care for while Lottie gets what she perceives as positive attention for a change
â° The attention Lottie gets out in the wilderness isn't what she wants. She didn't mean to start some religion surrounding the wilderness. It just kind of happened given that she was off of her medication and was delusional, also while being surrounded by fellow delusional girls
â° But Misty isn't delusional. She doesn't believe in anything supernatural when it comes to the wilderness. It's like a game of make-believe to her and she enjoys playing that game with Lottie, but I don't see it in a manipulative way. I think ultimately she understands Lottie's delusions and knows she's sick. She knows that Lottie is fragile both mentally and then physically after the fight, so she takes on this caring role for her
â° And I think over time, this dynamic turns into a messed up kind of love where they don't know if it's really love, but they find comfort in one another regardless, so it must be something
â° I also kind of see it how Lottie sees religion. When Lottie was baptized in the lake, she didn't do that because she suddenly believed in god and wanted to convert to Christianity. She was scared of what was happening around her and how she was seeing her world, but she had this person giving her an "explanation". If she could believe she was getting visions from god, it made the reality less scary. Misty and Lottie's "love" is very similar for both of them
â° this became a lot more analytical than I originally planned on writing, but if you want more sweet dynamic stuff let me know! I think these two would make such a weird, fun couple together
Mistylot has occupied so much of my brain lately and this explains it so well! Iâve been thinking more about adult Mistylot and been struggling to come up with how they could work as teens, but this is perfect so thank you so much.
Also this got me thinking of how they sort of have a similar role now as teens. Mistyâs never been the leader of the group, in fact she started out pretty much the opposite, but sheâs often the one taking control of the situation in the wilderness. Sheâs borderline âleading from the shadows,â even though she probably doesnât think of it that way. I do think that if she were to find herself in a more explicit leader position, sheâd hesitatingly accept it, but she currently thinks of herself as more like a knight than a queen, maybe an advisor. Still, she wants to have influence, especially since it comes with the recognition from others.
And then thereâs Lottie, who while not an outcast, was one of the low-ranking followers in her high school group. Then she suddenly gains a ton more status in the wilderness pretty much by accident. Sheâs just listening to her gut feelings most of the time, and it happens that they keep turning out to be right, or the other girls interpret them as such. But before she can fully rise up and become the Antler Queen, she steps down, realizing that continuing to blindly trust her instincts is too dangerous for everyone. Still, itâs likely that some of the other girls will continue to seek her advice, and sheâll give it out when she feels strongly enough about it.
All this to say that going forward, Misty and Lottie are the closest to equals. Never going to be on top, but always on the edge of it. Carrying more influence than either of them ever imagined, and that theyâre still trying to get their heads around. Misty seems to be more settled, and actually excited about that, but it makes Lottie more nervous. And I can see Misty encouraging her and comforting her that sheâs only doing what she thinks is right. And Lottie being someone who gets Misty a little more, because while sheâs gained respect, she still doesnât have as much understanding.
Anyway thatâs my little expansion on this, hopefully Iâll finally get my thoughts together one day and take the time to write about adult Mistylot because it seriously might be my favorite ship now, but until then thanks for posting this!!! Love to see this ship becoming a thing
The last Audition, the Revue of Tragedy has begun! Sing, Dance, and Battle to win! Only one person can pass the auditions after all.
Tsuyuzaki Mahiru - The clear favorite to win this audition, Mahiru has been a strong presence this entire tournament. During her many revues, she has regained her confidence once more and found her brilliant self. But will she be able to overcome this last opponent and claim the Top Star's Tiara? After all, Mahiru lost the last time she faced Junna and Nana in these auditions, and it was only when Claudine was at her side that she could prevail. And now, if she wants to take this audition home and reach her dream stage, Mahiru will have to give this last revue everything she's got!
Saijo Claudine - The eternal Top Musumeyaku has once again supported her partner to victory, even if it wasn't her usual partner. Despite her reservations about these Revues, it doesn't change the fact that it has also shown her that she has plenty of rivals to keep an eye on, seeing as her classmates have grown so much in this short time, especially Mahiru! Their Revue was one of the hardest fought matches in this tournament! But Claudine's ambitions won't settle for being second best! For her dream stage, Claudine's going to have to show everyone that she's the top star!
