“ are you nervous? ”

it’s just another day!  /  not accepting. 

        “ always. ”  he answers with a laugh and a smile. which sort of makes his answer a bit questionable. sure, cody’s always loved the energy from being on stage and has always adored being in front of nearly hundreds of faces but those pre-show jitters will always exist even when he wants to claim that he’s hardly ever nervous about anything. 

maybe he should be telling little lena here a different answer. that uncle cody is nervous or scared about anything. but, he wouldn’t feel right telling her that.  “ but that’s why i got you here! ”  he reaches out for her sides and gives them a quick tickle before lifting her up onto his lap. they don’t let many people backstage on broadway but when the lead actor asks for his niece to be brought to his dressing room, it gets done.  “ you’re my good luck charm. gonna keep all those nerves away. ”

he smiles down at her and gives her a little bounce on his knee.  “ so i hope that means i’ll be hearin’ you cheering for me real loud, yeah? need you to scare all those nerves outta me. ”
