A little repost from my old blog, introducing again my sweer girl Estrela (Koopa Troopa OC, currently Ludwig's girlfriend in most of my AUs) UvU
Context: During the Summertime events (summer 2024) the Royal Koopa Family went on a vacantion on Isle Delfino; Estrela on the other hand, just, spent her summer suffering the heat of Toadtown, while texting a lot with her BF.
Who knows if these two will actually get to go on a vacantion together sooner or later? 👀
As previously anticipated, I am planning to re-post or even re-draw some old drawings (and my daughter Estrela appears in some of them!)
Also, I consider the events shown in these reposts to have taken place in the past relative to the new drawings I plan to post (to put it simply, we can consider them flashbacks). As a concrete example, this scene happened "a few summers ago" relative to the current timeline of my main HC/AU.
I wanted to sketch "Angel Iggy" sooner, but I've been quite busy lately T-T at least I managed to finish this doodle before the end of the Pride Month U.U
At first it was supposed to be only Ludwig with some majestic trans wings - you can see my current headcanon of him and his siblings here - but then Lemmy jumped into my mind and here we go, small Enby Lemmy joined the party!

Note 1: These are personal headcanons based on vibes and personal tastes, and they could change in the future! At this moment (Pride Month 2026), they are “canon” in my Main SM AU/HC.
Note 2: For the younger characters, these headcanons describe identities and labels they will eventually discover or adopt while growing up, not necessarily things they are already fully aware of at their current age.
Ludwig: Ludwig is a trans man (Koopa?), and his pronouns are he/him. He has been aware of his gender since he was a small kid, and he was already correcting people and using his chosen name before turning ten years old. Being trans is generally viewed positively in Royal Koopa culture, or neutrally at worst, thus leading to a rather smooth transition experience for him. Despite that, Ludwig is quite reclusive about his queer background and will probably avoid talking about it if he can.
Ludwig doesn’t usually use labels, but his sexuality falls somewhere between Bisexuality and Pansexuality, more likely the latter specifically regarding the romantic aspect.
Lemmy: Lemmy is a non-binary Koopa and uses he/they pronouns. He started actively exploring his identity quite recently, and thus he’s still trying out neutral pronouns. In the future, once they become a fully grown Royal Koopa, they will switch almost exclusively to they/them pronouns.
Lemmy is Pansexual, not really caring about his crushes’ gender or presentation. He is also starting to question whether he may be polyamorous, but at this point he still hasn’t found an answer.
Roy: Roy is Bisexual, even if until a few years ago he basically presented himself as a *definitely straight man*. He has only recently started coming out of his shell, thanks to his sister encouraging him to explore his actual tastes and feelings without embarrassment. He still has a marked preference for women, but he is also allowing himself to appreciate the company (and looks) of handsome guys. Plus, he has become way less of a bully toward his siblings whenever they talk about queerness or wear colorful accessories.
Iggy: Iggy’s pronouns are he/him, but he also believes that gender is basically too complex to express with a single label. He doesn’t care much about it either, thus adopting the Agender label to summarize how he feels about himself.
Iggy is both Aromantic and Asexual in a very strict and repulsed way. He panics if someone tries to flirt with him, and cringes a lot if put in a situation involving anything even remotely explicitly sexual (including the explicit and extremely graphic adult jokes Roy likes to make so often). His discomfort is entirely personal; from a biological and academic perspective, he is actually fascinated by the many different ways people experience attraction and repulsion. Despite this, he would not reject the idea of a platonic, aromantic relationship with someone if he ever found the right match.
Wendy: Wendy is Bisexual and has suspected that about herself since she was a little girl. However, most — if not all — of her dates have been with guys up until now. Secretly, she is a bit afraid of the idea of dating a girl, even if she would never admit it. Things feel easy with boys, but girls… it will take her a few more years to take that step. Spoiler? She’s going to marry that girl.
Morton: Morton uses masculine pronouns, and he’s fine with how people perceive him; though, he could adopt it/its as secondary pronouns in the future, feeling indifferent toward labels and gendered language overall. In fact, Morton never really put much thought into labels in general.
His sexuality is a big uncertainty too. His siblings mostly assume he’s heterosexual, while Iggy speculates that his lack of interest in anyone could place him somewhere under the aro/ace umbrella. Morton doesn’t care at all about that stuff, but he is extra supportive of his siblings anyway.
Larry: Larry used to be that average boy convinced that girls were a boring waste of time, while also being extremely disgusted by the idea that “grown-ups” would date them. Now that he’s a teen, he’s experiencing his first crushes… on other boys. It will take him a few more years of self-discovery before adopting the Gay label, or maybe he’ll just opt for the more generic Queer label.
Bowser Junior: Currently a pre-teen who really does not care about all that stuff. He feels good about himself, and everyone tells him that it’s normal to have little or no interest in other kids at his young age. Growing up, though, Junior will eventually realize that his long-term lack of interest in others fits perfectly under the Asexuality spectrum.
King Bowser's Studies + some notes about Royal Koopas

So, I actually did this study some time ago, and even if I'm still working on my Bowser's design, I still like this study enough to share! So I added some extra notes about him and his species.
About Bowser.
First of all, in my setting Bowser belongs to a species commonly called "Royal Koopas", linked both to other Koopa species (such as Koopa Troopas) and dragons, and thus their fiery appearance, spikes and affinity to fire. They also show some feline features in addition to reptiles and dragons' ones, resembling vaguely Tarasques from French folklore.
Bowser was born on a volcanic island under the supervision of Kamek and his council of wizards. Bowser's parents gave their lavic egg to Kamek with the aim that he would rise their son in a far away land, following the tradition of letting their children grow indipendently and conquest reputation and lands without interferences. Only when Bowser will prove himself enough as a Koopa King, the Empereor and the Empress of the Koopas will finally consent to meet him.
Bowser turned out to be a total brat as a kid, stubborn, arrogant and spiteful since his first months of life (Royal Koopas grow really fast, and in the span of a year or two he was already acting like a tiny, spoiled tyrant) and Kamek genuinely considered to drop his task out of desperation. Luckily, the High Witch Kammy and various other skilled Magikoopas where there to help him. But still, harder years of Kamek's already 300 years old life.
As a teenager and in his first years of young adulthood Bowser was quite the arrogant bully, still deaf to most of his tutor(s) suggestions. He also followed the long hair fashion that was popular those years, at least until he overheard Peach talking to Daisy about the fact that she liked men with short hair more.
He has currently reached his "full-adult size". By the standards of his species, which is already massive, he has emerged particularly sturdy and tall. He stands around 3.25 meters.
Note: these infos are still a WIP themeselves, and could become outdated in the future.
(Regarding the Royal Koopas lore, besides the little notes I've already left I was almost thinking on showing more about it... if I find the time and energy lol)
I almost forgot to share this archive, which contains a good portion of the drawings that used to appeared on my old blog (you'll also find it linked in my pinned post!).

Okay, this one took me A LOT of time and energies, ngl ToT
Ludwig's fight was extremely cool for a 2D Mario Game imo, I think I can even compare this one to the final Bowser Battle of the same game (I adored that one, too); his Wonder form is also very cool (especially the hair), and being me a fan of associating Ludwig's powers to thunders since Hotel Mario, seeing Nintendo bringing it back and kissing my headcanon was - like - amazing. Let's goo Zeus Ludwig!
Since I spent so much time for it, here are some fun facts about the drawing itself: for Ludwig's body I was vaguely inspired by eastern dragons and dragons roaming the skies in general, as I wanted to turn his simple green cloud in something a bit more scenographic (also I put dragons everywhere). I also considered to give him cloud-like wings in the first sketch, but I didn't like how they turned out in the end and discarded them lol.
I also liked the idea of his minions being grey-ish in the game, so I thought about giving them a cloud-ish appeareance to differentiate them even more from the real Ludwig, and also because I found their little faces funny >:}
In the end, I chose Daisy as his opponent mostly because she's my main on Wonder and I actually fought him with her lol and also because she's the best princess GO DAISY GO
I found the Wonder Morton design extremely cool - a mix of a mecha, a giant robot and a puppet?? - but most of all I love the idea of his big fangs growing upwards?
I'm almost tempted to *steal* this detail for my main HC design of Morton... 👀

I wasn't prepared for Alolan Iggy - or was I? Should I have expected it? After all, hasn't Iggy been slowly turning into a palm tree over the last decade...?
Honestly one of the creepiest and coolest fights yet!
Not gonna lie, his fight is probably my second favorite, the fact that he uses the *freaking* pirate ship to attack you is something I found extremely cool!
*BUT* I wanted to make his ghost-like version a bit more pirate-esque in fashion aaaaand here we go, Pirate Ghost Roy here you go!
This handsome young man (Koopa?) is definitely my favorite so far?? He's so adorable AND cool? But let me be honest: his clanky, robotic like movements are a bit unsettling - I love him.
Saw the Super Mario Galaxy movie and this was my first thought. How many of you guys can relate?
Btw I think the Movie Junior is very different from the Games Junior too. But in my head the cinematic canon is its own canon sooo yeah I can accept this version of him too. I love AUs after all.
I genuinely like this Wonder Form, being it bit silly and "spoopy" enough at the same time, and kind of fitting for a character that loves conquering Water Kingdoms I guess lol
To draw her in my style I was inspired mostly by IRL goldenfishes and the Pokémon Goldeen!
She was the first one I saw and I am genuinely curious to see the others!
