Concerning Sonic and Shadow’s quills: Their heads in general were designed to look a little more like a hedgehog’s, but Sonic’s quills were manually cut against his will, and styled that way to avoid talk about them. 

Shadow’s quills just stick up like that, either by choice or because they do.

I get a real Sonic Colors vibe from this AU

Mod Neon here, and thanks! While we’re still juggling some details out, we definitely were inspired by titles like Colors, Unleashed, Heroes, and even mobile titles like Sonic Forces: Speed Battle. Some games have heavier influences than others.

Is Neon Power limited to just the rings, or can it light up someone's whole body?

Mod Neon here, thanks for asking!

Neon Power is NOT just limited to the Rings! In the case of Shadow, all those marks along his body would light up at maximum Neon Power, and they would turn a gold color along with his Rings. Other characters who have the same cases, or similar cases, will get similar treatment.

Shadow’s concept sketches and colored, finalized concept art! A bit of work went into Shadow’s design, and we took care to make sure he fit in well, but still looked cool.

@mod glow, how did you come up with the design for knuckles? i like his hat, it reminds me of the ova movie

Essentially, I decided that his quills needed to move forward, and that he needed some pants, with the belt being a place for one of his Rings. Mod Neon suggested the hat.
