Hey guys, long time no see, here’s the attacks I’ve done in the first two weeks of Artfight this year. There’s not many but I do intend to pick up the pace from here since I now have more free time!

I know the dragonet song is supposed to be to the tune of “99 bottles of beer on the wall,” but fifth grade me made up a whole different tune when i was first reading, and it’s always been that to me. Might be cool to try and make my own cover of it 🧐🧐
I probably won’t be able to get my hands on the book for a bit, so I’m gonna be straying off of tumblr to avoid spoilers. Not that I post too much on here anyways lol.

My take on the Dragonets of Destiny, gosh it’s been a long time since I’ve drawn this bunch. They’re so nostalgic to me and I love them all dearly
I don’t think I strayed too far from canon with Clay’s design, as I was using his book’s cover art as a reference. I’ve always liked how warm and vibrant his orange tones are, and I wanted to stay true to that here.
I’ve made multiple designs for Tsunami over the years, probably because she was my favorite character when I first started reading. I wanted to make her a very dark blue like how she is described in the books, and I gave her “bangs” which are sort of shaped like a wave
I made two color palletes for Glory, one post-mountain and one under the mountain. After their escape, she was able to get much more sun exposure than before, allowing her scales to slowly become more vibrant. Under the mountain, her scales were duller and more desaturated, although she would often take naps under the sky hole to soak up the little bit of sunlight available. Her frill is inspired by the Japanese art of her.
I chose to go with a bluer tone for Starflight, and loosely based his design off of his special edition poster art. I don’t really have much to say about him, but I really like him as a character. I did not include his blindness here because I initially made these so I make a comic for a scene from the first book, in which he was not yet blind.
And finally, Sunny. I used her cover art as a reference as well since I wasn’t very familiar with drawing her, but I added in my own flair too. I drew some inspiration for her face shape from the Wings of Fire TV show storyboard art of her.
Well I think I’ve talked enough, I’ll probably sketch out some quick fullbody designs for them soon so I can make my little comic that I was planning. And then maaayyyybe after that I’ll make some designs for arc two and three
Took me a bit to finish these with school back. I'm slowly trying to get through every tribes architecture and then move on to other worldbuilding stuff.
