This really does play into my head canon that the Uchiha declined financially over the years and Madara probably inherited debt from Tajima. It was really common back then for clans to inherit debt and it was cyclical. The interest rates were also predatory.

I am also low-key convinced this is why Boruto-era Konoha is still so dependent on the daimyo and the nobility. They took out loans for the founding and probably more during the four shinobi wars that followed.
