Leaving for America today. I didn’t get souvenirs for everyone but if I saw something that reminded me of a friend, I bought it. Should I wait until after I give them out to post them here to keep them a surprise? SHRUGS

#Beijing souvenirs

I'm finally catching up with naruto, it's so good

In response to Michelle…I called it a “sun umbrella” because it’s a type of umbrella that is black on the inside and is good for sunny days to avoid getting tan…lots of Chinese girls carry them around because they don't want to get darker.

A bowl of noodles, spinach and peanuts dish, mushroom and beef dish, 2 bowls of rice....58元 (about $10)

waiting for your food

we were waiting for our food and about 10 minutes after we ordered, my friends started complaining about how long it was taking

food comes out super fast, one reason being that they can bring out each dish as soon as its done since everyone shares rather than prepare multiple dishes to bring out at the same time. also a lot of chinese dishes can be cooked in no time at all.

My friend told me about a foot massage he got - they can tell if you are having problems in the rest of your body by feeling the different parts of your foot. The foot massage person felt that one part of his foot was stiff, and told him that there were problems between his stomach and colon, and my friend actually does have stomach/digestion issues. And also told him, “you have 上火, right?” (a type of internal body irritation which would take too long to explain in english because there’s no direct translation), and in fact, my friend has been suffering from that the past week.

At the cafe I was with 2 friends, one of them ordered a cold cappuccino. When it came, they both stared at it because it had ice cubes in it, and one said “this is really high class”

On the other hand, I was with 2 ABC (american born chinese) kids last week for a few days (family friends) who both continuously complained about the lack of ice or stinginess of waiters to give them ice in China ice is *that* uncommon

Some of my friends haven't seen my haircut so

since I got a haircut I kinda got that whole tom-boy look going on, and just yesterday my friend was joking that I’m the type that would attract princess-type chinese girls, since I’m the “cool” type, we laughed about that but then it really happened I guess

o-oh my god I HAD A WAITRESS FLIRT WITH ME WHILE I WAS EATING WITH A FRIEND, I got flustered and she kept calling me 美女, I was so mentally un-prepared for it omg
