Solitary confinement:

When they take him out of the cell a few months later, he is silent. He doesn’t make eye contact and he flinches at every voice. The guards gently lead him to the shower room to get the months of filth off of his body and he just stands there under the stream of tepid water, lost in his own head.

When he is taken back to Whumper he doesn’t respond to even of Whumpers questions… just stands there. When Whumper strides over and lifts his chin to make eye contact- there is nothing there. Just the catatonic-like gaze to nowhere.

Maybe he was in there too long… the whumper wonders.

SIMPLE GUIDE:

Body Horror: Things that cannot happen in real life. EX: The Thing, stomach mouths, eyes on hands, etc

Gore: Fresh injuries, often severe. EX: Severed leg, gutspill, deep gashes, etc

NEITHER: Healed injuries and burns, congenital differences, missing appendages, etc. If I could theoretically go to the store and see that character browsing the isles- It isn't body horror or gore. That's just a person. *AND the amount of people that tag, not just fictional characters, but real human beings as body horror is staggering. Its not solely a fandom issue, ableism and bigotry against anyone that looks sufficiently "different" is prevalent in real life and has devastating consequences.

They don't fully believe whumpee, at first.

Sure, they were hurt. Horrifically, even. There's no denying the scars. But the things they describe? There's just no way someone could do such horrific things to a person, and there's no way a person could walk away from that. There must be embellishments, hyperbole, some misremembering.

Then they find the tapes.

Living weapon whumpee struggling with exercise during recovery. Everything from weight lifting to cardio reminds them of training. Even boxing or swimming stresses them out. Ironically even yoga seems to make them think there’s a hidden expectation.

Whumpee is frustrated. Maybe they want to keep their physique, or maybe they don’t but still want something to release energy. They’re absolutely fed up because nothing is working, everything sets them back in their progress and leaves them more stressed than before. Honestly they’re close to giving up.

That is, until caretaker invites them to a party. Low stakes, surrounded by friends and family, not even a dress code. Cordial, even welcoming. It’s in quarters but in a way that’s not oppressing. Whumpee has a good time, better than they expected. A friend invites them to join an impromptu and sporadic dance lesson, and despite their nerves, whumpee agrees.

Whumpee finds themselves working up a bit of a sweat, dancing is challenging, in a good way. No one is judging, everyone is laughing even if they mess up. And for once, whumpee finds a way to release energy without feeling ordered to, or silently expected to be flawless.
