I FUCKING BETTER
why your grades arenât the most important thing in the world
story time!
when i took calculus one, for the first semester i was super sick and in-and-out of the hospital and missed a lot of the foundation stuff, so pretty much all of the class went completely over my head. i didnât understand it whatsoever. around february i has a 56% in the class, and luckily by may i was able to bring it up to 72%. did i do shitty on the final? yep. did i get the lowest class grade iâve ever gotten in my life? yep. did it bring down my GPA by a bit? yep. do i still low-key despise math because of that class? yep. but you know what else? i can look back at that class and see all of the hard work that i put into it. i know that i studied my butt off for that class even though i didnât want to do it and it felt pointless since i had missed so much of the class already. but since i know that i tried my best, i donât even mind that i barely skated by in that class. because iâm damn proud of that final grade of 72% because itâs better than the 56% that i had for most of the class.Â
so with finals and report cards coming up in the next few weeks, donât fixate on that one number. because hereâs the thing, if you focus only on getting a perfect grade in the class, you will get stressed and anxious and are more likely to procrastinate because it feels impossible. but if you focus on just trying your best and donât think too much about getting a perfect grade, you will feel more at ease and the good grades will come as a result to that positive outlook. for example, instead of saying âugh i only have a 70% in this class itâs going to be impossible to bring my grade upâ, try saying âi have slacked off in this class, thatâs fine, i just need to work my ass off to bring it up and then i will feel better about my grade.â itâs okay if you didnât do as well as youâd hoped, everyone has that one class that just kicks your ass. so donât fret. take a breath. you got this.
FUCK THIS!!! im a humanities/arts person!!! FUCK MATH!!! what the fuck is even calculus!!! what r u calculating!!!! fuck off!!!
youâre young. you have time to keep growing. life can be short so donât waste your time stressing.
đ«Â holy damn my soul just breathed a sigh of relief đ«
just start. do a single math problem out of the 20 you have. one page of reading and youre done. try to just place one item where it belongs. research that one thing you need for your paper. go over a powerpoint slide for that lecture youre confused in.
i promise you doing one single action feels better than doing nothing at all. take 5 minutes to do just one small task thats been staying in the back of your head.
YOUR GRADES DO NOT DEFINE YOUR INTELLIGENCE!
Thanks @justjasminestudying for giving me the idea to make this.
This is my first ever study infographic, I hope you like it guyss!
And I just hit 100 followers and Iâm so proud that I this fam is growing. Thank you to everyone who supported me along the way.Â
how to avoid education burnout
have 3 achievable goals a day: having a laundry list of things to do everyday is super unrealistic, and you just end up feeling bad about yourself because you didnât accomplish your goals for the day.
leave your sundays open: i love sundays because theyâre my day to chill out and catch up on school work that i wasnât able to finish during the week.
recognize when youâre at your emotional limits:Â forcing yourself to get work done when you are unable to comprehend your study material does not benefit anyone.
learn how to say no: people will ask you for your time and it will stretch you to the limit, whether it be at your job, in your extracurriculars, or in your personal life. know when to step back and say no.
take care of yourself physically:Â take breaks, go for walks, shower regularly, get enough sleep, eat healthy, see your friends
celebrate your accomplishments:Â go out to eat with friends after a big exam, indulge in a night off after a busy week with some netflix and wine
make a study plan beforehand:Â it can be daunting to see how much work you need to put in to a class or task beforehand, but this allows you to spread your work evenly so you donât become overwhelmed.
learn how to ask for help: it is very rare that people make it through school, whether it be high school or university or any graduate program, without needing the advice of others or just a kind soul to vent to. find that person.
never forget your hobbies:Â you will need things that keep you sane. if you love to play music, write, play volleyball, or cook, make you sure you donât lose these things. they will become your escape when times get tough.
log off from time to time:Â it is exhausting to be constantly connected to social media and your email. just physically disconnecting from these for a night to take care of yourself can really help you clear your mind.
saturday mornings were created so you can catch up on all the work you didnât do during the week because you were too busy watching friends.

(â ââąâÏââąâ â) as such, i really want to be as productive and efficient as possible for my final year in ib. i want to do well, and i want to still have the time to do art for fun, so hopefully, these all happen (áŠËâŁËáŠ) | 42/100 days of productivity |

Actual things my Russian teacher has said this year
âImagine my confusion when I arrived in Russia not being able to read, and seeing the word âpectopahâ everywhere. It sounds like somewhere ghosts eatâ
When a kid in my class was struggling to do the rolled R sound âOh so that means you canât do any bird calls? I pride myself on my bird calls. I speak bird better than I speak Russianâ and proceeds to show us all of his different bird calls.
When I asked him to pass me my water bottle from the front desk he shouts âVODKAâ and smells it âActually it just smells like lemons. LEMON VODKAâ
âTom, your Cyrillic handwriting is worse than a 7 year oldâs and youâre only writing âTomâ â
âThe Đ© character sounds just like a train. Shch shch shch come on, do it with meâ and then forces us to make a train around the classroom going âshch shch shchâ
Upon seeing that heâs late to dismiss us âYouâll be Russian to your next class! HahAA!â
The point of studying isnât to get good grades
I mean certainly, itâs a huge part of studying
But in my opinion studying is about learning and growing.
We surround our lives with âomg i have to pass this examâ but not with âIâve been granted this opportunity to learn new things about the world we live inâ
So my advice to you
Study to learn not to pass an exam
My left hand is famous.
