倒序词:Inverted/Palindromic Words
I’m sure you’ve noticed in your Chinese studies that there are some words for which you can switch the order of the characters and get a new word! In Chinese these can be called 倒序词. I’ve put together a list of 20 倒序词 pairs, most of which I’ve stumbled across over the past couple years. It’s so interesting to see the relationships between the words! French culture/ language thing I learned today:
French people don’t have a word for a hug. Like for when you greet someone, because they only do the bises. They have the word ‘étreinte’, but it does not really connotate the same meaning as a hug between friends. So it is getting more common to just use the english word ‘hug’. [A French friend told me about his first encounter with a hug in Germany. Apparently he was very confused. Also in the podcast I’m listening to I heard it a lot recently]
I wouldn’t know about French people/culture, but the French language does have a word for “hug” and it’s câlin! In Québec, it is used a lot and that may be because we actually hug our friends instead of doing the bises
Oh yeah! My French friend said they had a few words, but didn’t use it as a real ‘hug’. But yeah that makes sense that you use that word because you hug :D is there a difference between ‘câlin’ and ‘étreinte’? or is câlin just used more frequently in Québec?
To me ‘étreinte’ is more related to lovers. It’s usually used to describe a longer hug and it isn’t a word you’d use to describe the hug you give when greeting someone. I guess the word basically describes a more intense hug that could be sensual/sexual. Also, because French is French, ‘étreinte’ can also mean something very negative to describe the way someone is holding something/someone tightly/roughly.
Câlin is more general, it can be used to describe a hug with friends, family, children, a stuffed animal or, you know, anything.
When I was working in South France as a children's entertainer, the word câlin came up a LOT.
Hot take: porn gives boys dysmorphia and unrealistic expectations. I thought I was dragging the shrimp until I put my first magnum on
God these notes are shit. Everyone accusing op of watching rape porn or some shit without any evidence. If you found a problem with this statement, log the fuck off. Men are expected to have six pack abs and a chiseled jawline and huge dicks and it’s disheartening especially cause most men don’t fucking look like that.
There is no organization regulating the porn industry. There is a huge issue with drug use, coercion, alcohol abuse, trafficking, and rape in the porn industry. There have been hundreds of pornstars who have come forward talking about how awful the industry is.
Female actresses are expected to have boob jobs and vaginoplasties to look more appealing. Women need surgeries to fix vaginal and anal prolapses from the porn they shoot. A lot of these women get sick and hospitalized because of this lifestyle.
Women are expected to put up with violent and degrading sex acts because boys grow up watching this shit and demand it from their gfs and wives and expect them to act like the porn stars they watch.
Little girls discover porn and end up hating themselves because they don’t look like those adult women with a bunch of surgeries. Women and girls begin to allow men to do horrid sex acts because porn tells them women like it. Porn portrays women as fuck holes with no autonomy or personhood.
But yeah seeing men who are fit and have big dicks is totally the same.
I think what I just read was "Yeah but women have it worse" get the fuck off my dashboard. Porn is harmful to men too and guess what? They're the largest consuming demographic of it and the target market. YES IT AFFECTS THEM.
Do you know how many guys get obsessions with gym and food because they want a six pack? Do you know how many guys have sexual dysfunction due to feeling "inadequate" with their manhood?
Stop detracting from OPs post. Porn affects men too.

student self-care: but not necessarily the feel-good kind edition
1. what have you been procrastinating on? afraid to do? make a list. put it on your google calendar. be very honest with yourself. put every single task you have to do, schedule it, block out your calendar if you have to. it’ll help you in the long run even if it’s scary at first. 2. sort the loose papers settled at the bottom of your backpack. don’t risk losing precious class notes or syllabi or readings. use folders to classify them by subject. label them clearly. sort them by chronological order and label what class and what part of the syllabus they’re from. you’ll thank me during exam season. 3. evaluate your finances. have a way of keeping track of them. personally, i tend to spend a lot on food and coffee when i’m stressed. make a budget and stick to it. 4. if you’re struggling in a certain subject, make some time for it. i know it’s painful and easier to procrastinate, but make time. set a certain quota of pages to read. email your professor for help and consult if you have to.
5. eating healthy isn’t necessarily eating delicious. i know everyone posts their croissants and lattes and cakes (guilty) but eat that salad, eat your vegetables, eat a balanced diet. it’s brain food and it’ll sustain you and help you focus better. 6. take the time to really care for yourself. make it a routine. take daily walks, count the glasses of water you have, make sure to shower regularly. do your laundry and clean your room. take your medication regularly, schedule doctor’s appointments if you need to. your health is much more important than school, and your wellbeing will help your performance. 7. sleep is good. regular sleep is good and necessary. but know when you have to sacrifice a little sleep to get things some very hard things done. then sleep after. self-care isn’t always pretty. sometimes it’s about being disciplined and confronting what you’re afraid of. but it will make things easier and lighter for you in the long run. just one day at a time.
I was running late for a lecture and a girl trying to sell me a magazine for £7 asked me
