So short summary of my thoughts on this whole Killing Eve debacle.

First of all, I don’t think straight people (specifically writers) understand that watching a “darker themed show” is a completely different experience for queer people when queer characters are involved.

I love dark shows, as a criminologist I’m intrigued by them but I did not watch season 4 of Killing Eve (my favorite show) because I knew I had to protect myself.

You see, straight people can watch a dark themed show and balance that out with other straight media they identify with. Queer people do not have that same luxury of choice. I have only ever felt represented by three to four characters and guess what, they all died (Orphan Black is the only exception to this).

And it’s not that I’m angry that one of them died, I accept that risk in watching these type of shows but just knowing that the original story DID have a happy ending and they still refused to give it to us, is just mind blowing and enraging to me. I wasn’t planning on even commenting on this, after 15 years on this app it just felt like the same old recycled conversation, but I saw some interview snippets of the head- writer completely belittling the fanbase and I just wanted to say that the new generation of queers deserve to not condition themselves to prepare for baiting, sorrow, disappointment, death and disrespect. You deserve so much better and are completely justified in your feelings & response to this final, no matter what the writers’ say.
