THIS IS SO ME.
Homemade beach-wear part 3
Another stolen tshirt from my dads closet:
This one is the simplest to make. A pair of scissors is all you need. Cut the bottom of the shirt to the length you like.
Measure from the bottom of the shirt how long you want the armhole to open. Thats where you cut at the side seam, almost a straight line, cutting off the sleeves. Be sure to match the length to the other side.
And then, tadaaaa. New shirt!!
Homemade beach-wear part 2
This is the tshirt I stole from my dad. I loved it because of the light material used.
As with the first shirt, I cut the neckline and sleeves. But this time, I removed all of the sleeves, I just followed where it was sewn and thats where I cut.
I marked the parts I was gonna cut with a white dressmakers crayon.
It kind of looks like a window. The outer edges of the squares on the side seams. With a column in the middle. Its the two squares that I cut.
Its gonna look like this after you cut it. Also, cut the column in half.
And then, just tie whatever knot you know to both ends so the shirt will still hold up.
Tadaaa! Finished product!
My attempt at getting you to see the back portion.
haha photo fail!
Very nice tops for the beach!!
Homemade beach-wear part 1
(My apostrophe button isnt working in the keyboard so please bear with me)
My friends and I recently went to the beach for the summer. And because I didnt want to spend at all, I scrimped on most of my outfits. I found a good unused t-shirt in my dads closet and cloth scissors, and I was good to go.
I forgot to take a before picture for this one. But the tshirt is just a plain gray one.
I just cut the neckline, because I hate tight round necks, and a little off the sleeves. Around 1.5 inches.
And then I took an old colorful vest thats too small on me now, and used it to make a pocket.
I cut a pocket shape first in paper (you can fold it in half so its symmetrical or you can also wing it if you want a more funky pocket), and then patched the paper in the cloth. And then cut!
I gave a little allowance where I can sew it on.
The sewing I did was the most basic running stitch, I just didnt do it all the way at the front so no stitching will be seen.
Aaaand, tadaaaaaaa!! The final product!
Very very easy to do with little or no skills involved. :) such a money saver too!
Will post 3 more tshirt cuts I did right after this.
SINULOG! 3/3
The party went on for hours!! We were drinking and dancing like there's no tomorrow, with no care in the world!
We stayed there until around 4am (usually by 12am I'm sleeping like crazy but this is a once a year experience haha). When we left Jean had a brilliant plan of going to the Pontifical mass that was held in the Basilica. Luckily it starts at 5:30. So we took a cab and headed to the Basilica.
This was our view. It was so packed, hindi mahulugang karayom! We couldn't even go near the walls of the Basilica because of the massive amount of people. And all of them had these red balloons, which cost P30!! We were going to buy but I thought, this is just P10 in normal life.
The mass was purely in Cebuano, unfortunately. So we couldn't understand a word. I think I was falling asleep standing up already because of all the drinking. And then this magical moment happened,
everyone let go of their balloons as they were reciting a prayer and waving their arms. It was so touching and moving that I almost cried. I have no idea what the prayer was but I felt the love and worship oozing from everyone there. And the balloons looked amazing in the air together (the photo couldn't capture it)
It was so crowded we couldn't even get communion. So we decided to head home, (also avoiding the crowd nabbing our taxi home).
The day after, we woke up around 9am (which is just 3hrs of sleep). I was so scared we might miss the parade but luckily, we didn't!
I felt soooo bad for the participants because it was scorching hot!! And they were all wearing these intricate costumes, AND DANCING!
However, I found the parade underwhelming because we stayed in the same place for around an hour and only saw maximum of 10 different groups. Some weren't even dancing, and the ABSCBN float was included. It was empty.
Anyhoo, here are photos of those we saw.
That was about it :| we only saw a few because we (mostly I) got so impatient, the parade moved so slowly.
So we headed to Baseline! My friend only told me about this so I had no idea what to expect. We didn't even know where it was. So we just followed where all the youngsters were going.
Here we are malinis pa. The dj started playing around 3pm. We got 2 tumblers for unli mixed alcohol. (P500/tumbler)
Again, soooooo many people!! It was crazy. People were spewing beer all over (Not so fun fact: beer will hurt your eyes), shoving their paint-dipped fingers all over your body and just grinding you all the friggin time. I dont mean to be misleading alright: I loved Baseline!! It was such a MESSY FUN!!
Here we are painted on. Sticky with paint, beer and sweat all in one. SARAP.
Yowzah. I got really scared for my camera so I didnt take much pictures.
Jean mukang tinapunan ng paint grabe. Anyway, we had to leave at around 5pm because our flight is at 10 and we had to clean up a little. Hahaha! Plus, dinner!
We ate in Mooo, which was across a shopping mall. So we shopped there for pasalubong while waiting for the food. Good food for cheap!!
And alas, we head home.
Aaaaah Cebu, you were memorable.
SINULOG! 2/3
Continuation..
We took a quick shower and then headed off to where everyone was... the streets. Fortunately for us, Zubuchon is still open!!
I'm really not fond of lechon but Zubuchon's lechon is a whole different story. I can't even start to describe the taste. So here's a mouthwatering photo. (My stomach is really grumbling now.)
Oh the goodness..
After our super late dinner. We searched the street where the PARTY AT! But during Sinulog, every step you make is the party. Everyone is partying and every inch of Cebu is on tugs tugs mode.
We didn't have to look far, and went inside Alchology. That was an experience. The place didn't look well-thought of logistically. There were high tables and chairs right smack in the middle, where the dance floor is supposed to be. So people were just dancing and standing by the walls. Sayang. We were able to snatch 1 table, thanks to our "let's do it like we do it in Manila" style. The DJs were playing typical party music with jeepney beats. But towards the peak of the night (1-2am) they got a lot better.
When you start drinking, things really do get blurry.
WTF moment of the night. Um hello guys. People around you?
Many girls started standing up on the chairs to dance.. and for everyone to see up their skirts.
Enough drunken moments. Hahaha!
At around 2:30 we left Alchology. Mia and Marlowe headed back to the hotel while Jean, May and I were still up for some Cebu partyin'.
We landed in Cebu Techno park where some guy volunteered to take our photo because I couldn't make the self-timer work. Haha
We didn't end up in another bar because we didn't want to pay entrance fee again.
The next day. Ivy called me to ask if we had plans that day. According to the itinerary I made, we were supposed to commute to Pandanon island but upon asking locals, it was hella hard to commute there! So we didn't know what to do for that day until Ivy called yaaay! They had a huge boat rented out so we can snorkel and go narin to Pandanon. A total win-win situation.
We had this huuuuge amazing boat that seated 20. Actually all 20 of us can lie down in here. It was PER-FECT for sun-bathing.
They had packed lunch, but since our group was "sabit", we bought our own lunch. The very easy to eat, Jollibee. We ate in the boat because we didn't want to spend for a cottage in the island. Spell cheapangga.
Here we are in Pandanon island. The sand was fine and the water was clean enough. Not that clear though. But boy, that island was Taft and Katipunan in one. All the yuppies and students were there, each with their own cool cottages, blasting party songs and of course, partying. It was kind of weird how this island became the party island before the party in the city.
The waves were pretty calm and perfect for just chilling in the water.
Group photo first before boarding!
We were being drunkenly dare-devilish when we sat at the edge of the boat, finishing off 2 bottles of Cuervo.
Awesome awesome time spent in that boat. I highly suggest people do this when visiting Cebu. Bring lots of alcohol ;)
As usual, shower in our hotel and out again for a toast to our last night! We ate in Ilaputi in the Cebu Techno Park. Very good food and good cocktails to start the night.
And the night begins. Here we are with May's friends. They were celebrating something and we just rode with their table. (God, I forgot what bar this is!! :} Hmm wait, I think its The Loft. Or the bar behind that)
Soooo many people!! It was so packed!! If it weren't for weak children passing out before 12, we might have suffered from suffocation.
Um, yes. Party hard.
Let's continue this in my last Sinulog post..
SINULOG! 1/3
Alright, I am not chronological, you knows it! Haha
This is my first ever Sinulog trip, and it was A.W.E.S.O.M.E!! We booked the flight pretty late (around early November) so it was a little expensive. Also because of that, our hotel wasn't the best, logistically and physically. (That sentence sounded grammatically wrong but I don't know how else to say it.)
Anyway! I planned the itinerary and we decided to stay in Malapascua first (we landed Cebu on a Thursday), and then Cebu City for the weekend.
Touchdown Cebu City!!
This is us inside the van. We had to go to the North Bus Terminal for the bus heading to Maya port. Mahal ung van, its 700 and the NBT is near lang.
It was a long and scary bus ride. I don't know why we decided to sit in the very front, but because of that, we saw everything. Everything that almost got hit by our bus. And the driver kept on honking on everything that moved.
It was a 4-hr bus ride to Maya port which costs just around 200 pesos.
We rode this pretty big boat from Maya Port. We got kind of screwed over because it says on the sign there that the boat ride costs only 80 but they charged us 200 (I think) because the waves are extra high.
It was extremely windy and some of our things got wet.
This was on our hotel, Malapascua Exotic Island Dive and Beach Resort. That was a mouthful. Our hotel was at the very end of the beach strip, it was a good 10min walk. They got us welcome drinks! Since the travel was so long, we had lunch first. The food was a little pricey (since the owner is European) but they had so many choices.
This was our room. Jean and Mia being annoying.
Because we maximized our time, we went for a swim in the beach. I bet you're getting tired of our faces so..
The elevator shot. Brown!!
Marathon and Wakeboards
Our day started early. Of course, we wanted to catch Ella and Hene as they cross the finish line so we were there around 6 hours after the start of the marathon.
As we were waiting, there was a guy anxious because he planned to propose to his gf after she crossed the finish line. As this happened, all the people were surrounding them, including cameras and microphones. If I were the girl I would have guessed right away, but she played it safe and did not assume anything was going to happen.
Can you see how obvious people are? Hahaha! Anyway, I wasn't sure if there was a ring cos I didn't see the guy holding anything. Just that tarp. Mmmm, I'd keep my mouth shut because I'm thinking awful things. Haha!
We waited quite a while.. but when we saw them, I felt like a mom, so proud!!
They went one by one. Here's Ella, grabbing the finish line all happy.
And Hene looking so grateful that the marathon is over for her. Haha
Here they are with the banners I made!!
They are now marathoners!! Congratulations to the both of you!
After that, since we were in Nuvali already, Emil and I went to the Repul1c wakeboard park! We didn't know what to expect there but screw it, we did it anyway (might I add that Emil got scuuured!!)
The man-made lake for the experts. They made it look soooo easy!
This one is for the beginners, thank god!! In the left are the tables and chairs for those who are just watching. I'm not sure if its for rent.
Both of us didn't get to finish half a lap :| but I had fun! And for the record, I always get farther than Emil. He sucks ass in wakeboarding.
We only got the 1 hour pass but after that I already felt the burn on my skin. They had a little swimming pool you can go to while they have the lunch break.
They also have a canteen when you get hungry. Because for sure you will.
Here are their rates for your info:
It's relatively cheap and they have nice instructors who will guide you everytime you ride. I'm definitely going back someday. And hopefully I can finish half a lap. Haha
Dont bother
We used to talk all the freaking time and then it just stopped. I'm okay with that but I wish you'd tell me why. Someday I hope I'll stop overthinking things. I'm being so random right now.
Anderson Cooper & Grumpy Cat on Anderson Live
Pretty fierce snakeskin shoes from Payless. To balance off the "good officegirl" vibe of the outfit.
I read the article on Rappler about the UP student. I posted a comment and it started there.
1st - I am not a UP student
2nd - I don't know how it feels to miss a tuition payment.
3rd - this is all just what I think.
So I said that people should just stop blaming UP because "they" didn't kill the girl. She killed herself, it was her decision. But yes, the system is flawed and there's clearly something wrong there.
People started commenting on my comment. Some were saying that UP pushed the girl over the edge. They may not have killed her directly but its their system that did. Some said I should stop blaming the girl because she's dead. Some even blamed the government.. Only one person agreed with me.
I didn't want to comment back anymore because I think it would lead to nowhere. I was thinking more psychologically about it, how the girl was probably thinking. And they were taking the, should we say, "economic" side about it. And I didn't want to claim that there are other options to solve the problem. Maybe the girl thought that she didn't have anything else that's why she committed suicide. I don't know.
My point is, this leads me more to think that Filipinos always have that "we're always the victim" way of thinking. And I hate it. If you're poor, not everyone is out to get you. The rich does not always take your money. And you will not be a victim unless you let people make you feel that way. Take charge of your life. No one is a victim unless they choose to be the victim. Fight back. Also, it's so easy to blame the government. People, that is so 60's. Yes, there are corrupt politicians. Yes, we haven't improved much as a country. But that's why we're studying and working right? To help the country. We can help the country and the government little by little. Stop expecting fast and immediate results. Fight for the country, for the right government.
Did this sound too campaign-worthy? Haha
Girl wears boy.
Calligraphy afternoooon yday!! So much fun! I love learning new things! :D #lifeafterbreakfast
