Earth Day’S Big Tiny Dream House
We were mentioned in the Santa Barbara Independent for our tiny house project!
Shou Sugi Ban siding for our tiny house, this is an ancient Japanese Technique used to seal the pores of the wood against bugs and water. We then finished with a 3 oil mixture.
Karly and I were on an episode of Towned podcast talking about the tiny house, check it out!

The objects we take care of can define how much free time we have.

http://www.desert-jewels.com/return-to-the-real A story I authored for the Desert Jewels Blog about the tiny house journey - I can only hope that it gives reason as to why anyone would want to do this! It’s a dream becoming a reality.
Trailer & Lumber ready for framing @ UCSB Art Dept Sculpture Yard!
HUGE MEGA PHOTO JOURNAL #2 from our trailer retrieving trip! I am loving the iPhone 6's panorama feature, makes for some interesting photos while driving.

The Santa Barbara Independent wrote an amazing article about our project!!
Just some quick renderings of our "final" design, Justin has been extremely generous with his time and efforts toward this build. I'm glad to be getting it built so he can see it!!
Our trailer is underway, here it is as of today (before the subfloor is installed)! We decided that having the subfloor already done upon delivery was the most cost effective and efficient way to build the trailer for this project!
Got a nice delivery from Livingreen today! Some nice reclaimed teak rosewood flooring & a Paperstone used countertop. Paperstone is super cool stuff because essentially its made from ultra compressed recycled paper and feels like stone...hence the name! It really is cool to the touch and as hard as stone. Its also food grade safe and shines/cleans with mineral oil.
Check it out: http://www.paperstoneproducts.com/information-landing.php
ALSO - we are picking up the trailer for the tiny house, its made custom by Sharon @ Seattle Tiny Homes - typically she doesn't sell the trailers by themselves - but she was as excited about our project as we are so she wanted to help us out! Expect a sweet photo blog of the trip up there and back! So here's to Ellen @ LG and Sharon @ STH!! Thanks again!
Karly & I started a Honeyfund to help with the Sustainable Obtainable Tiny House Project! We are doing this instead of taking a short term expensive trip to put us in a position to where in the long term we can be more financially secure! Your donation (& sharing of this post) will help us for years to come since Karly is applying to medical school.

The project is also educating others on how they can do the same through our blog and by being displayed at this year's Santa Barbara Earth Day festival!

This is Kim Yasuda (Professor, UCSB) and her class that will be helping with our tiny house project! I'm honored to be able to offer this project to the students and appreciative that UCSB is allowing us the space to make it happen!
This spacial studies class is a plethora of ideas and projects that the students get to pick what they work on, our tiny house project is a snapshot of a sustainable post graduate life and a taste of alternative or minimal living!
