Red-Vented Bulbul. Sometimes its tragic to see climate change affecting the biodiversity. A group of Rothschild's (Nubian) giraffe were marooned on Longicharo Island, a rocky lava pinnacle in the middle of western Kenya's Lake Baringo. The rising lake levels turned the peninsula into an island, trapping the giraffes. In a dramatic rescue, two were transported across the lake on a makeshift raft, to Ruko Community Conservancy. A wild bull elephant visits a watering hole in the Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy, in northern Kenya. In the 1990s elephant populations in this region had been heavily poached. Thanks to community-based conservation here, the elephants have made an extraordinary comeback. Today the area contains Kenya's second largest population of elephants, more than 8,700 according to the most recent census. It is truly amazing how resilient nature is when we give it a chance.
