decide to constantly keep in touch, etc

for friends you don’t have to carry their baggage

you occasionally prod them to work on their self improvement, check in on their progress

then you give them space to work through it

in romantic relationships you gotta carry each other’s baggage

so you better make sure they’re carrying the weight of some of their own

and you are for your own

romantic relationships require you to be emotionally dependent on someone

just like you’d choose someone good to survive on an island with you

you better find someone good to depend on

and whenever i get to a place where i can give myself everything

i need to ask myself, what can he take away from me?

so many people feel like they “need” romantic relationships

see romantic relationships in a new light

you have relationships with so many people

which person do you genuinely want to get romantically involved with?

who could you have a fulfilling romantic relationship with?

and for the people who don’t want to be romantically involved with, it does NOT diminish the emotional connection you share

society has a knack for putting romantic relationships on a pedestal as the end-all-be-all

the only place where you can experience true love and intimacy and closeness

but that’s just fucking false

cause look what i’ve experienced here

in my purely platonic, extremely close, soul-to-soul connections
