Rambunctious Rice Curry
This hybrid curry and soup baby proved to be the best of both words as Sergeant Soup Martyr would say! Staring our homemade soup stock from our dearest friends! This is why the soup remained green and not curry red because the soup stock was just too strong!

Kourageous Kale
This healthy and budget friendly option served us well. Chrysanthemum conducted the soup orchestra whilst Sergeant Soup Martyr sat idly by.
As we had just returned from Quebec City in a wonderfully dazed state.

Lovable Lentils
What was normally a soup duo became a soup trio. The three amigos Chelsey, Kristen and Chrissie put their thrifty soup squad heads together in order to construct this lovable lentil piece. No grocery shop was needed for this endeavor. This healthy piece of soup magic, kept members healthily sustained for weeks. This stockless soup proved to satisfaction, however it required a healthy dose of salt and pepper.

Tofu Noodle Soup
This soup club banger was off the charts. Sergeant soup martyr took this recipe on in search of excellent chicken noodle soup vegetarian style replacement. With the soup being chunky and very soup stocky, this soup proved hearty. Although the original chicken noodle soup taste didn’t pop through, as always the soup was proven to be a success. Regardless of the fact that Sergeant soup martyr couldn’t really tell which spice was basil or oregano it all went in the pot for a splendiferous gulp.

Mushroom Mania
This week’s edition of Soup Sunday is an oldie but a goodie. Our Chrysanthemum was flying solo with emotional and chopping support from our resident Sergeant Soup Martyr.
The all important recipe: http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/4756/cream-of-wild-mushroom-soup
All the sweat (from all the veg), blood (no actual blood was spilled in the making of this Soup Sunday Special) and tears (from those pesky onions) were well worth it though as this week’s concoction was an absolute flavourgasm. Honourable mention must, of course, go to Sergeant Soup Martyr’s fabulous idea of creating a garlic-y accompaniment. A bit crunchy but a well-appreciated add-on nonetheless.

Survival Soup
It was an interesting soup Sunday to say the least. With Kian-the-Knight taking the french onion soup recipe on with valor. Valor in this case because of Kian-the-Knight’s hangover of the century. The making of the soup included the help of original soup siren members not including SoupatageSoupSoup, (where is he by the way?) I digress. Due to the Knights epic of all hangovers Kian needed assistance from the other soup sirens in finishing the creation. This was in fact because the Knight brought up some very big unpleasantries literally. Anyways! The soup was completed however, Sergeant Soup Martyr could only bare one bite. This was because the soup was unappetizing due to the things Kian-the-Knight had brought up. Alas had this soup been done any other way it may of been more delightful.

Kitchen Sink Vegetable Soup
So here we are. 2016. Two thousand and SIXTEEN.
After a relaxing Christmas and New Year break, the Soup Sunday Squad was reunited and we bring to you today our first creation of the new year! We like to call it our “Kitchen Sink Soup” because we literally threw in everything we had leftover in that pesky fridge that was probably (maybe) going to go off*
So! We adapted what we had lying around to this recipe from BBC Good Food: http://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/8029/versatile-veg-soup
What we will say is that it was a vegetable adventure that wasn’t as filling as we wanted it to be. It was tasty, oh yeah, yum yum. But we wanted hella sustenance and this week’s edition didn’t meet our sky high expectations.
Shoutout must go out to our (potentially) delicious duck broth Chrysanthemum and Kian-the-Knight brewed up over the Christmas break. Unfortunately, our super ingredient was thrown out before we had the chance to utilise it :’(

Tomato Soup Extraordinaire
The week’s take on Soup Sunday featured another cult classic with a creamy blitz. Tomato and basil soup was found with ease once again by the magical iPhone app Allrecipes (NON SPON).
This week only included two soup comrades, Chrysanthemum and Sergeant Soup Martyr (Chelsey from the block), which resulted in extra yummy leftover soup rations, which in turn resulted in more admiring stares and proud affirmations in our respective professional lunching areas.

A massive shoutout must go to our Sergeant Soup Martyr’s side addition of a grilled cheese sandwich, which might have perplexed old Chrysanthemum (as the Brit struggled to comprehend this Canadian classic ensemble) but she quickly hopped onto that bandwagon.
The fact that we didn’t need any, I repeat ANY, extra seasoning is a testament to how flavoursome this soup turned out to be - the salt and pepper were banished from the table. It’s safe to say we did good.

Birthday Soup!
With it being the day of birth of one of our Soup Sunday regulars, our Sunday soup birthday party featured the request of the birthday girl’s favourite soup: LEEK AND POTATO. But this was no ordinary leek and potato soup. OH no. This rendition of the cult classic included less cream and more veg - a risk that was well worth taking.
This healthy and wholesome liquid goodness proved to be a potential mantra of our Soup Sunday gatherings. With expectations high, Kian-the-Knight tackled this challenge as a brave knight should and low and behold his blood, sweat and tears paid off in the best possible way: a happy birthday girl.
An honourable mention must go to the roasted brussel sprouts done by the one and only Soupotage Soup Soup. And after the soup came the cake. Three in fact. One for all (and all for one). The classic fairy cakes (vanilla and chocolate because we couldn’t decide which flavour to bake) with beautifully creative and artistic icing by our resident Sergeant Soup Martyr, vegan brownies that were practically healthy, and finally the leftovers of an extremely scrummy Nutella cheesecake *Drools* The food was (Taylor) swiftly followed by the bants. A collection of the worst sets of wordplay one could possibly endure in one evening.
So, another Soup Sunday success and another year older for our Chrysanthemum, who is blooming into a fine soup maker along with her fellow soup enthusiasts. Let’s hope the coming year will be full of more delicious vegetable potions.

Non-over Zealous Zucchini
In this week’s rendition of soup Sunday, soup member Soupotage Soup Soup brought the best out of his soup and of us all with our non-over zealous zucchini.
On account of our movie watching needs, this week’s soup was made as late as late can be according to Sergeant Soup Martyr. This week’s soup began at the late hour of 10pm as The Hunger Games was newly released into the wild. Soup was had regardless, even if Sergeant Soup Martyr was at her absolute wits end.
Master chefs Chrissie and Kian manned the soup fort on account of their excellent ability to work together. The combination of spices and the creamy base proved stupendous. Sergeant Soup Martyr made claim to the fact that being full after one bowl of soup is a signature for a soup well done. Lastly, the taste of freshly crushed garlic on toasted baguette was a superb accompaniment to our creamy concoction.

Super Sweet Hamburger Soup
This week’s edition of souptacular showcased hamburger soup as you’ve never seen it before. This soup consisted of a hearty mixture of all things yummy,
The star, however, of the show was undoubtedly the addition of the Super Sweetcorn by the gallant Mr. Soupotage Soupe Soupe. It was pretty super. It begged the question: what was super? Was it super corn? Or super sweet? And what in fact is super... ?
Deep questions here at La Merluche.

Power to the Textures!
This week’s rendition of soup Sunday proved to be a strong comeback! After returning from our extravagantly fantastic whirlwind of a week in Quebec City, the monitors sought comfort and refuge in this week’s detoxifying and texturous soup.
Soup Monitor Chrysanthemum-the-Great brought this tomato and lentil soup out of the trenches.
http://www.essiebutton.com/2014/10/16/power-protein-soup-recipe-essieeats/
Despite soup Sunday invitations being given out earlier in the day, the inhabitants of LaMerluche failed to properly congregate. (Honourable mention to newest house mate and new soup squad member Guillaume although he doesn’t know it yet...). Regardless this soup duo (Soup Sergeant/Martyr and Chrysanthemum) trudged on.
The mixture of sweat potato, tomato and glorious lentils proved excellent. This week’s recipe called for the vegetables to be pre-roasted which I am sure encouraged and emphasized the vegetables’ taste. Lastly, as a result of the soup club being only two, as you can see from the picture we will have soup for some time to come!
