⭒ ° . ♡ ― honesty was a virtue, right ? so angela could be honest in admitting that she was avoiding biking home like the goddamn plague. it wasn’t that her family was bad – far from it, they were loving in their own way. it was just impossible to get any WORK done under the family household circumstances. and unlike her other senior friends, her parents had had nothing to offer in the way of apartment costs or gas money, insisting instead that she angle herself towards a career when her degree was finally finished and bike around campus to cut costs in the mean time. her legs ? looking great these days. her will to bike home carrying a decade-old transistor radio ( and all the bits and bobs she’d pulled out of it ), just to put it back together again in the cold, dimly-lit garage surrounded by cobwebs and the ambiance of her brother’s THIRD loop of Yes’s Fragile that evening ? non-existent. she could get down to roundabout the next time she had nine minutes to spare. 

TODAY, she was so frustratingly, achingly close to finishing her pet project Emdeko that if she had to focus on absolutely anything else before it was done she might actually combust. and actually, on second thought, it was possible the radio was university property anyways. COULD she even leave with it ?

the thing wasn’t broken, per se. or at least, it hadn’t been until she’d started deconstructing it. nothing she couldn’t fix, but she’d noticed nothing appeared to be out of place on the inside. it just wasn’t picking up the local stations – or any station really. no matter which way she’d messed around with it, it picked up silence and little more. she knew they weren’t in a dead zone, because the other radio she’d placed beside it for her tests had worked just fine. so it had to be a mechanical issue, didn’t it ? and screwdriver deep in it’s bowels, she swore she’d heard the raucous, fuzzy snow of a too - distant channel just a couple hours earlier. all ange had to do was chase it down again. wiggle some pieces and whisper sweetly to the little thing until it hummed back to life with the exact right combination of care, even if it ate up her evening.

maybe she was lucky, then, that only about an hour after she’d decided to take the hit of coming home late and worrying her mother did she finally convince the radio to make another noise. again, it was fuzzy. the sounds of a lifetime entirely out of context and well beyond it’s signal range. but it was SOMETHING. 

“ god, finally. ” she huffed. “ hellooo. ”  she was talking to the radio. just the radio. not whatever the absolute living fuck replied. it wasn’t supposed to hear her.

‧˚₊∗ THIS CAMPUS IS FULL OF HORRORS, if by horrors we follow jiwan's definition and mean spaces all too cluttered with memories that, while once precious, have little to no use in the current day and age and need to be discarded before her eye starts twitching again. out with the old and in with the new, so on and so forth. you see, the thing with jiwan is that she's never quite been good friends with the concept of messy spaces; her upbringing in an environment that was borderline clinical in nature may or may not have to do with it, but if we were to examine that topic we'd end up with enough material for three deep dive videos and a ruined afternoon, so let's get back on track instead.

it's summer, and this season has little to offer to jiwan beyond the grass being greener on the other side ( literally ). because as it stands she's in the communication club's room, just jiwan with some old junk and a dream, and while the football field is thriving these days she's not sure she can say the same for its players in this heat. so then, who's really winning?

huh... and maybe that can serve as inspiration for the script she's currently working on for the school podcast, due tomorrow yet largely ignored until it couldn't be put off any longer, just the way it's meant to be. her second source of inspiration, she then decides, is a summer vibes playlist from a past long gone that features hits such as what makes you beautiful. people grow, but songs are always the same even if your perspective of them may vary with the passage of time; and that's what so special about nostalgia, jiwan thinks. it's something we can rely on for comfort, especially when trying to cope with change.

at first she doesn't hear anything, far too invested in hastily jotting down each and every one of her ideas on a worn out legal pad, with accompanying crudely-drawn doodles and all. but then... she does hear it, and it's a little too clear to mistake for something else. " who's there? " but jiwan's not too worried; chances are it's someone who got lost, or a clubmate forgot something here. " hello? "

♡﹒→﹒ part of what appeals to elijah about this job is just how social it often pushes him to be . he’s hardly one to isolate, eager to greet just about anyone that comes in . but cases like this have him scurrying away, apt enough at reading just who might be likely to cause this sort of trouble given the disdain often already written on their face as they walk up to the counter. he’d almost feel guilty for leaving lotus to deal with them, hovering nearby only to hear what their complaint was, hardly any real help,but he has little interest in entertain arguments so early in the morning .               as hard as he tries, elijah can’t quite keep his own amusement under wraps, doing his best to bite back smiles as lotus volleys with them, but he’s certain at least one manages to sneak through . ridiculous . it finally bubbles through once the customer is away from the counter, near grinning over at lotus . “ are you fucking kidding me ? that was great, think you handled it perfectly . ” he wipes over the counter as she continues, shaking his head with another soft laugh . “ you know how defensive people are over their drinks, we’re bound to get a few more anyway .”

‧˚₊∗ IF SHE REALLY THINKS ABOUT IT, isn't this kind of what she signed up for? avid coffee-drinkers are more often than not intolerable until the first sip of caffeine hits and perhaps she should've been a little more prepared for it... but still, this is absolutely absurd and most definitely above her paygrade, so if people keep getting smart at her register she'll most definitely give them a peace of her mind.

" thank you, thank you, " bright smile replacing the annoyed grimace from a moment prior, lotus even curtsies as if to accept the honor. " you get used to it, growing up with three older brothers that pick on you any chance they get. " even though it was all in good fun, it did help foster a quick wit when it comes to talking back. " if we get ONE more of them i'm walking out. " and this is the part where a devilish grin starts to draw itself on lotus' lips, as the seed of a scheme plants itself in her mind. " you coming with, or what? "

even with the sleepy haze coating chocolate hues she could spot the twinkle in his eyes , a sparkle so bright it'd be easily spotted from afar , something akin to a star ... it pulled a smile out of her , the most silly , goofy , foolish smile she'd ever have plastered on her face - perhaps because she was just as fond of him , maybe just as in love . " memories from last couple of hours flood brain momentarily and it causes her to giggle once more , entertained by previous chaos . " soft voice almost demands , almost , wouldn't complain if corey would rather do something else - which , funnily enough , he suggests , and all hyejin can do is nod her head . " i think it's like : don't look a gift horse in the mouth or something ... but also , yes - i wanna get coffee , please . "

" i should get back into that game... i remember last thing i did was ask krobus to be my roommate, and that was so cute i cried, and then i turned it off and cried some more. and i haven't played since... " he reminisces, looking oddly serious given the context. krobus may not be real, but he is very much real to him!

" aren't you hungry? " but corey follows hyejin's instructions, leaning back against the wall and making himself right at home. " i made a smoothie earlier, i left a glass for you in the fridge. it's, like... mango strawberry, or something, " a shrug, " i just kinda mishmashed a lot of things in there, but whatever it was it worked!
