Beastmen for my Cult of the Possessed: Praise the Great Insect!!!

I wanted some insect-like beastmen, so I put some spider heads from Wargames Atlantic on some beastman bodies, and for the arms, I used bits from the Frostgrave Gnolls.

My cult follows the great insect. Nobody knows exactly what entity these fallen cultists—formerly followers of Tzeentch—are talking about. Probably they are crazy, and people just try to stay away from them. They sing, they eat, they sacrifice living things in the name of their mysterious being, the one that speaks to them in their dreams, all with the hope of someday becoming insects themselves, and then feast on the rot of the world.

I added some more insect-like bits to these beastmen, and now they have a pet! If I earn enough money and get lucky in the market during my next post-game, I will add it as a war dog.

An evolving game

"Runner of the wastelands" is an ongoing project, a solo-journaling resource-management TTRPG where you explore the wastes using a hex-map and miniatures in a hex-combat-grid to resolve encounters.

You are a "Runner", a traveler who faces the dangers of the wastelands as a courier between the few cities that still stand. Make people trust you, so that when someone has to send a package, you're the runner they think of.

It is a game I regularly play and that I would like to create more of: more art, more rules, and more tools for it, so that you and I can have the most fun with it.

So, for every 20 bucks that this game makes, or for every 20 reviews/comments (about your experience with the game), I will do one more thing for it.

We have already reached two goals (an oracle and a zoom-in exploration and looting procedure within each hex), and we are now close to the third milestone!!! :)

First game in my new home! My partner, a friend, and I put together some warbands, grabbed a few of my miniatures and terrain pieces that I’d made for other games, and played "Forbidden Psalm" for the first time. Everything went really well, and we had some really fun narrative moments. I thought about introducing them to "Mordheim", but I think "Forbidden Psalm" was a good choice, especially since my friend had never played a miniatures game before. Also, "Forbidden Psalm" can be played on a smaller table, which is great for a small apartment like mine. Totally recommended :)

Sex-negatives, censors and prudes are always saying that kinksters "can't tell the difference between fantasy and reality" and it's always so revealing to me when they say this because it's like no, that's your problem.

I write fiction that has explicitly nonconsensual sexual elements occurring between fictional characters. This is actually fine, because these characters are not real. They do not exist. These events didn't (and in some cases literally couldn't) occur in reality. If a character in my story appears to be experiencing trauma or pain, that is only because I am an evocative writer.

I have no interest in engaging in or being subjected to any of the acts that I depict in these stories in real life. I've been sexual assaulted twice, and that's more than enough for one lifetime.

I also regularly participate in VRChat hunts, which are basically immersive horror LARPs. I engage as both a prey who regularly gets torn to pieces, and as a physical incarnation of the Big Bad Wolf from folklore, who enjoys eating people. It may surprise you to learn that I do not want to eat people in real life.

Ironically, this is part of rape culture. It comes back down to the idea that rapists commit rape because they're perverted degenerates who wait in the bushes to assault people.

But in almost all cases, rape is about power. It is most commonly done by a person the victim knows personally and has some form of societal power over. (For "rapist in the bush" scenario, that power is usually misogyny combined with physical strength).

People who commit rape usually don't have a rape kink, just as I was molested as a child by my mother who wasn't a pedophile from medical perspective - I was just a convenient sexual object after my father died, that she had power over.

The kink puritanism only serves to obscure real origins of sexual violence in our society - ironically by victim blaming, as it's well known that noncon kinks are very common among women from the submissive side - something anyone can plainly see by going into comment sections of any piece of noncon erotica on Rule34 or ArchiveOfOurOwn.

And hell, while men commit around 90% of all rape, rape prevalance among men is still around 10%, two-three times smaller than for women - but that is still one man in ten.

And I don't know if this number includes 'socially acceptable' sexual violence men do to each other, like 'jokingly' exposing one other or shoving genitals into a sleeping persons mouth, or people being sexually tortured by military or law enforcement - I guess as long as the rape isn't done ostensibly for reason of sexual gratification then it's fine, right?

People with power abuse others in traumatizing ways to satisfy their needs and humilate them all the time, but we're told it's uniquely evil when it's ostensibly sexual. I say ostensibly - how many cops get off on beating people up? How many CEOs get off on working their employees half to death? How would we even know?

People are being told that its our fetishes and "perversions" are the reason for the sexual violence we face, rather than fundamentally unequal society.

People in power would rather blame us crafting fantasies forced by living in this unequal society, fantasies about that power unequality, rather than blame the inequality that created these fantasies.

"Runner of the Wastelands" new extra material is ready and up!!

I just added the new material for Runner of the Wastelands: Rules for prestige, handler, and an extended version of the connect table.

I made these rules to have more gameable pieces to interact with when visiting towns. In particular, I was interested in having an impactful, mechanical way to interact with the "history" of my character as a runner in each town. My vehicle for this was the idea of having a record of the "prestige" of my runner, which directly affects how much I could charge for as a runner, and a new "archetype", the handler, which is there to show one extra way in which the runners impact the societies of the wastelands.

As with all extra rules, these are purely optional, even on a session-to-session basis, as sometimes I want to play the game just with the core rules, and others I need more depth to the mechanics.

I made some terrain for Mordheim. I used the packaging box of a subwoofer for the stone tiles. They already had their own texture, which made my job a lot easier (egg carton works just as well!).

I was gifted some dry pastels for my birthday, and I'm having a lot of relaxing fun with them!

Last week, I played Mordheim with the amazing people from Mordheim Chile at a local game store. It was a three-on-three game, with lots of hits, lots of saves from the brink of death, lucky hits, and incredibly narrative moments ⚔️

I'm very happy to return to my country and discover that spaces and groups like this are flourishing!
