The portrayal of white people who have been violently separated from their own culture stealing the power of black culture and music to try to get reconnected was SO literal and somehow not at ALL heavy-handed or trite. Fkn remarkable.
The Austin American, Texas, May 23, 1935
My friend group and my work life are all blowing the fuck up right now and itâs especially bad cuz I work with the friend the friend group stuff is revolving around so Iâm just like WTF is going on. Really canât take this stress. I was gonna try and get stuff done today but all I could do was lay in bed because anxiety and anger and sadness gave me a migraine. I have no idea what work is gonna look like Monday and need this job because itâs the most stable Iv been even with the bullshit so uhg just hurting rn
I can't get over how Sinners is such a rich text on assimilation and whiteness and the dangers of "civility" and music as a way to look both forward and back
And it's also a phenomenal vampire movie where a lot of hot people get covered in blood and there's a B plot about eating out girls

I have no words left to express the tragedy my family and I are experiencing. Our dream has become to have a little food to keep us alive. Imagine living in the same circumstances as us, unable to secure food for your family. It's much more difficult than that. Please continue to stand by us and support us financially by donating here, and support us morally by participating and interacting. From the bottom of my heart, my family and I say thank you to everyone.

Do you still think of us?
Do you still think of our children â bleeding, terrified, broken â being slaughtered in Gaza by Israeli airstrikes?
Just YES or NO
YES
NO
Say it out loud. Say it with a repost. Because silence is complicity. And our children are dying. This isnât just another post.
This is a motherâs cry. A desperate plea.
My own son was severely injured in one of the recent airstrikes. His tiny body, broken and bleeding, now lies in a hospital that has no medicine, no electricity, no hope.
He needs urgent surgery that can only be done outside Gaza. Every minute that passes puts his life at greater risk.
I am begging you â from one human being to another â to please help me save my sonâs life. Your donation could be the reason he survives. The reason he gets another chance at life, at laughter, at childhood.
Please, donât turn away. Donât scroll past.

đż My Name is Rola, and This is My Story đż
I never thought I would be writing this. I never thought I would be begging for help just to keep my children warm, just to feed them one more meal. But here I am, reaching out to you, because I have no other choice.
My name is Rola. I am a mother of two beautiful children, and before October 7th, we had a life filled with love and laughter. We had a home. My children had their own room, filled with their toys and drawings. We would sit together on our balcony, drinking coffee in the early morning light. We had dreams, just like any other family.
But in an instant, it was all gone.
A missile struck. The earth shook beneath us. The air filled with dust and fire. My husband and son ran, stumbling over each other in terror. I stood frozen, the ringing in my ears drowning out my own screams. Our home was shatteredâwindows blown out, doors ripped from their hinges. And when I looked outside, our neighborâs house, a place that once echoed with children's laughter, was nothing but rubble and ash.
That was just the beginning.
The bombs never stopped. Every night, I held my children close as the sky rained fire. The sound of explosions mixed with the cries of mothers searching for their babies in the darkness. I covered my children, whispering words of comfort, but how do you comfort a child who is terrified of dying in their sleep?
We had to leave. We walked away from everythingâour home, our memories, the warmth of our life before. My children left behind their favorite toys, their books, their safe space. Now, we have nothing.
No home.
No food.
No clean water.
No way out.
I went to buy sugar the other day. It cost $20 for just a kilo. Food is disappearing, and the little that remains is impossible to afford. Every day, I fight to find just enough to keep my children alive.
I am exhausted. I am scared. I need your help.
I never imagined I would have to beg for my familyâs survival. But today, I am.
Please, if you are reading this, help us. Help me save my children. Help us find shelter, food, a way to rebuild even a small piece of the life we lost. If we ever have the chance to leave, we need support. If we are forced to stay, we need a home again.
Every donation matters. Every share helps. Every voice that speaks for us keeps hope alive.
đ Please donate if you can. Share our story. Help us survive. đ

Why aren't we talking about the real reason male college enrollment is dropping? (Celeste Davis, Oct 6 2024)
"White flight is a term that describes how white people move out of neighborhoods when more people of color move in.
White flight is especially common when minority populations become the majority. That neighborhood then declines in value.
Male flight describes a similar phenomenon when large numbers of females enter a profession, group, hobby or industryâthe men leave. That industry is then devalued.
Take veterinary school for example:
In 1969 almost all veterinary students were male at 89%.
By 1987, male enrollment was equal to female at 50%.
By 2009, male enrollment in veterinary schools had plummeted to 22.4%
A sociologist studying gender in veterinary schools, Dr. Anne Lincoln says that in an attempt to describe this drastic drop in male enrollment, many keep pointing to financial reasons like the debt-to-income ratio or the high cost of schooling.
But Lincolnâs research found that âmen and women are equally affected by tuition and salaries.â
Her research shows that the reason fewer men are enrolling in veterinary school boils down to one factor: the number of women in the classroom.
For every 1% increase in the proportion of women in the student body, 1.7 fewer men applied.
One more woman applying was a greater deterrent than $1000 in extra tuition! (âŠ)
Since males had dominated these professions for centuries, you would think they would leave slowly, hesitantly or maybe linger at 40%, 35%, 30%, but thatâs not what happens.
Once the tipping point reaches majority female- the men flee. And boy do they flee!
Itâs a slippery slope. When the number of women hits 60% the men who are there make a swift exit and other men stop joining.
Morty Schapiro, economist and former president of Northwestern University has noticed this trend when studying college enrollment numbers across universities:
âThereâs a cliff you fall off once you become 60/40 female/male. It then becomes exponentially more difficult to recruit men.â
Now weâve reached that 60% point of no return for colleges.
As weâve seen with teachers, nurses and interior design, once an institution is majority female, the public perception of its value plummets.
Scanning through Reddit and Quora threads, many men seem to be in agreement - college is stupid and unnecessary.
A waste of time and money. Youâre much better off going into the trades, a tech boot camp or becoming an entrepreneur. No need for college. (âŠ)
When mostly men went to college? Prestigious. Aspirational. Important.
Now that mostly women go to college? Unnecessary. De-valued. A bad choice. (âŠ)
School is now feminine. College is feminine. And rule #1 if you want to safely navigate this world as a man? Avoid the feminine.
But we donât seem to want to talk about that."
