Kilfane Waterfall and Glen

When I take a look at this picture it seems like a place from another world... it looks like a small place from heaven! Is this real? Yes it is... This is a kind of place where I want to spend my last years of life, this is a kind of place that it feels HOME to me. This is real... this is Kilfane Waterfall and Glen in county Kilkenny, a picturesque paradise with waterfall and woodlands dating from 1790. It is only 20 minutes driving from Kilkenny City and it is open only in July and August. So if you love nature as I do and you want to run away from stress and anxiety, this is the place which will help you find your inner peace and chase away all your troubles.

Did you know that Hook Light House in county Wexford is one of the  oldest operational lighthouse in the world? It was built in the 13th century by Knight William Marshall and  it was recently voted one of the top ten places to visit in Ireland. If you ever go in Wexford, don’t miss the chance to visit this amazing place and book a guided tour to find out more about the history of this 800 year old tower.

Adventure in Waterford

One of my favorite places in Ireland is Dunmore East county Waterford. I love it for the beautiful scenery which fills my heart with peace and joy. There are a lot of things to do in Dunmore East and although I have been there a million times, I can honestly admit I have never been to Dunmore East Adventure Centre. I love adventure and I hope I can book this experience for next summer, because there are loads of fun activities for the whole family. They have the biggest inflatable aqua park in Ireland and alo other activities like: archery, kayaking, sailing, climbing. They also organize kids camps in school holidays or team-building days out for your company. I will definitely book it next summer but meantime I would love to hear more about your own experiences with Dunmore East Adventure Centre. You can share your experiences on our blog, so people like me, who never had the chance to try the experience, to have an idea what is all about.

Kilkenny Castle

I remember the day I have visited Kilkenny Castle. I was on a trip with my class in Kilkenny. It was a very cold and rainy day. We met in the morning in front of the castle and when we entered the lobby area, we met our guide, who presented herself and started to tell us more about the history of the castle. I remember I was fascinated about the story and I wanted to hear more about the Butler family. She said that the castle was built at the end of 12th century, but it was sold to the Butler family in 1391. It was sold to Castle Restoration Committee in 1967 by the 24th Earl of Ormonde, Arthur Butler. The guide told us how people lived in that times, that they had a lot of servants and despite the fact they had a fire place in every room of the castle, it was very hard to maintain the heat because of the stone walls. Because of the cold, lung diseases were frequent, and people used to sleep in small beds with a lot of pillows, because it helped them breath better when the lungs were affected. And the beds in the castle were really small and I remember when the guide told us that people who used to live in that days were really short. The children in the family were all the time minded by servants, which I think is very sad, because they never had the chance to spend enough time with their parents. And women and men were not equal, for example it was a room in the castle where men retired after dinner, to drink a brandy and discuss important matters, and women were not allowed to enter this room. All the rooms of the castle were very impressive, but I especially liked the gallery room, with its high ceiling and portraits of the family members. At the end of our visit, we enjoyed a tea and a cake in the ground floor cafe, and we took a long walk in the beautiful park which surrounds the castle. If you visit Kilkenny City, you really must visit Kilkenny castle, it is a experience you will never forget!
