me: hey iām outside are you ready to go
my cyberpunk friend who is carpooling with me: YĪ£ĪH dude almost. i was up hacking all night and my snoozer didnāt wake me so i powered on kinda late. poptarts are still in the toastzapper and iāve gotta find where i put my steppers but iāll be out in nanos!
me: alright.
i wish i had the option of appearing only to the people i love, i dont want to exist to anyone else, if i have to be a physical entity, i wanna password-protect this vessel
I swing both ways ;)
Violently. With a bat. Come get some motherfuckers.

āPERSON.ā
āDudeā? I donāt know if theyāre a dude.Ā āFriend?ā C--comrade? What if theyāre not my friend, what if they do want to shoot me, I----p....PERSON?????? YEAH, OKAY
[Shrike!learn-from-the-pain] They had almost collided as they rounded the corner - to which the smaller figure's response was to raise one arm up defensively and have the other reach for a presumed weapon hidden under their coat. There was a pause as the person - just what kind of person was uncertain behind that blue display covering their face - reassessed the situation, finally producing a distorted sound that was clearly a chuckle through an androgynous voice modulator. "Love the mask, kid."
He stepped backwards, bracing himself on his back foot at the sudden almost-collision. Both hands clenched as he froze, brain failing to figure out in the split second which of his hands had his phone and which had the taser. Thankfully, this didnāt cost him any limbs since thisā¦stranger, apparently decided he wasnāt a threat. Whichāhey!ābut, fine, heād take it.
The eyes on his mask flicked to two small dots at the compliment, surprised and not entirely sure how to respond.
āLllā¦ikewise,ā he decided, though was at a loss for a similar tag toĀ ākid.āĀ āPerson.ā
Yeah. Sure.

Aiko sighs and rubs the bridge of their nose āAh shit. You got meā they reply and smirk āI thought we could hack into the pentagon and send Morse code messages to Russia about their dancing bears.ā If it helps Aiko doesnāt think Wrench is lame. A little awkward maybe, but not lame.
They lead him down to a small beach and into a cave. āAlmost thereā They murmur once theyāve gone deep enough Aiko has stopped and sat down, knees to their chest and looking up at the top of the cave. Thousands of little worms glowing a soft blue are above them, and Aiko is smiling like theyāve discovered a treasure.
āTheyāre glow wormsā they say softly āItās like finding the stars in a cave, only so long as itās dark enough I can still see them during the day. Just come here and itās like looking at the night sky. Isnāt it amazing?ā
They forget briefly that not many people might be as excited about the worms as they are. However they seem absolutely delighted and content to share this little treasure trove with their new friend.
He laughs at their joke, a surprised and high-pitched noise heād given up being embarrassed over. Heās definitely curious where heās being lead--itās not often his excursions ended up in spooky beach caves.
His mask goes blank as they enter, making it easier for him to see even if a little harder for Aiko.
Still, the kidās treasure eludes him. Heās able to get the general gist of it, a blue glow where there should be darkness, but they just sound so excited.
He takes a deep, quiet breath, and swallows his anxiety before unclasping his mask and pulling it off, holding it carefully as he turns towards the ceiling.
āWoah.ā
Night sky indeed--and a better one than heās seen in a long time. The lights of San Francisco tended to drown out the more delicate joys of life.
yeah okay apparently my wrench is just, unexpectedly well-versed (ha) in biblical scripture (though probably more in the tanakh)
because i was thinking about someone asking him why he would make his mask quite so pointyĀ because like, understanding of his odd needs or not, that seems doubly inconvenient and he just
āwell itās where [redacted] usually hit me so i, yknow. turned the other cheek.ā
Rate this kink: finally finding that ONE error in your code that has been fucking up the entire process, and when you put in the bracket you forgot to put in originally everything works PERFECTLY.

Like def. a little earlier on in a relationship when heās not quiteĀ warmed up to the person yet--but heās more of a touchy-feely person and very much appreciates a physical presence even if that MASSIVELY COMPLICATES THINGS
Send in Kinks and My muse will rate them.

A face my mother can finally love.
Genjiās head tilts, just-so, the movement barely perceptible - the joke did not escape them. It sounds like something he himself might have said, a few short years ago. As the two of them are little more than acquaintances, the only thing to do for the time being is to let it pass.
āPerhaps,ā they say, lightly, a smile in the modulated voice.Ā āA change could be good for me! But thenā¦ā Genji drops his hand to the table, drums metal fingers on it, and leans back.Ā They eye Wrench from behind the visor, watching the maskās expression.Ā
āI suppose I have come to think of this,ā they gesture to the visor, circling a hand over it, āas part of me, as⦠my face. I am not sure if changing it is something I truly wish to do, even if the prospect of having an outward expression is tempting.ā
Conscious of it or not, he leans forward a few spare inches when they lean back, the maskās eyes widening in a display of interest.
His hands drop to the table with a smackĀ at Genjiās answer, mask flicking briefly to exclamation points before settling on an even widerĀ set of circles,Ā āRight?ā he says, probably a bitĀ too loudly to be polite.Ā āItās like--like--ā his excitement comes out as his hands tapping at the table, but every sentence that runs through his head seems too sappy to say out loud. So he just huffs instead, half in frustration and entirely in relief.Ā āYeah.ā
He sits up, rubbing his hands together briefly like heās trying to start a fire with the friction of them.Ā āBut--the way I see it, if you have a face that you can change why not change it to look super cool? Not that yours doesnāt already but, itās not like you have to throw thatĀ one away. Not like normal faces where you canāt get the old one back.ā

An eyebrow raises when Wrench says he stole the money, theyāre turning the bauble over and over in there hand as they listen to him try and get pastbthis awkward encounter.
Aiko canāt help but laugh a little āAlright, alright Iāll hang on to itā they reply, putting it back on the ring with their charm. āAnd Iāll spare you further bybnot asking where or who you āfound itā from.ā
Aiko nods āWrench huh? Should be easy enough to rememberā they lean back on their heels āListen if you ever need any help with anything let me know. Itās the least I can do as thanks for your generousityā they smile at him āIf youāre not busy would you mind if I showed you something? Normally Iād say not to tell anyone but I trust you wonāt. They start walking and wave him over ācoming?ā Whatever it is they want to show him must be cool- at least to them.
His mask squints at them as they wave him over. He really shouldnāt let himself get distracted, but--ah, fuck, heās such a pushover. He could never say no to a kid. He goes after them, trotting a bit at first to make up the small gap in distance, arms still crossed.
āItās nothing involving national security, right?ā he asks. Is Aiko too old for the whole treat-normal-things-with-grave-seriousness thing? He tends to mess that aspect up. Or maybe kids just think heās lame. Thatās always possible.Ā āāCause I think Iām already on enough watch lists.ā

[suzumesoul] "I am starting to think I should update my visor." They're resting their chin in one hand, watching Wrench's mask with fascination. "Is the display deliberately manipulated, or does it automatically correspond with your emotional state?"
Its eyes go wide as he freezes, staring at them. Then the mask smiles, concealing a delighted grin.Ā āI taught it everything it knows,ā he says, leaning forward and mirroring Genjiās pose.Ā āIt--itās based on a few things. Thereās a camera and sensors on the mask itself, and then this thing,ā he holds up his arm, displaying his wristband,Ā ātakes note of my temperature and heart rate. Feed all that into a neural net and spend a few hundred hours training it, and viola. A face my mother can finally love.ā Okay--maybe thatās a bit...well, he said it, no need to belabor the topic.
He shifts slightly, threading his fingers together and resting his chin on them, mask still resolutely smiling. āAre you...in the market?ā Heād be lying if he said he isnāt dying to get his hands on the guy. In a purely--
Well. Yeah, okay. Heād leave it at that.
