Dying because I just found out that at the beginning of Inception, we know that Arthur is the dreamer and Mal remarks that the painting she sees "is Arthur's taste". Cobb states that the subject is "partial to post-war British painters", talking about Saito. The production team could've used a number of paintings, but they chose Francis Bacon's 'Study for Head of George Dyer', which was of his male lover 😂

I know - I KNOW - Christopher Nolan didn't intend Arthur and Eames to be A THING, but as a fanfic writer....you know where I'm going with this 😂😂

Arthur could've chosen a number of paintings but chose one not only painted by a queer man, but one that is known for having a lover for almost a decade. Thekr relationship was described as "tumultuous but passionate." NOT ONLY THAT, George Dyer was known as a thief, and when discussing Cobb going to speak with Eames, Arthur refers to him as a thief.

I love how Eames is bored listening to Cobb.  Fidgeting and fiddling with his totem until Arthur speaks up.  Then his whole body focuses on Arthur.  He sits up and swivels around - even his hand stills for a bit.  All of his attention on Arthur.  Just look at them!!!

I think that Arthur is a total street rat who’s had to fight for every scrap of education he’s gotten; and that, in self-educating himself, he’s gotten a much better, much higher level of cultural and general education than most people with four degrees or so. I LOVE that he says “that worked so good” bc to me that’s a) proof of how shaken up he is, that he lets his cultured veneer drop, and b) a hint of the rough past he’s smoothed over. And I think that Eames can always sense that past around Arthur’s edges, (even if you don’t buy the military backstory that says eames probably knew Arthur back when he WAS that street rat), and part of that gleam of delight is the chance to slip in some extra intimacy in reminding Arthur that Eames knows him that well, and no amount of five-syllable-words and fine suits can ever completely mask that.

Eames is not an oaf like he’s so often written. There’s literally nothing about him or the way he expresses himself that suggests he’s anything but brilliant. That “specificity” thing was obviously teasing, his “math was never my strong suit” line is more a “what the fuck? That’s a long time” reaction.

The first time we meet Eames, he organises the challenge at hand into its most basic form and hands Cobb the keys to Inception. He says things like “anti-monopolistic sentiments” in bars…while eating peanuts.

Why does anyone think he’s anything but highly intelligent and most likely well educated?

Anyway, brilliant, well educated, ex Mi5 Eames is canon. See below:
