Initially I imagined he would carry a test tube made of crystal/glass in the real world/dreamscape, but leaned more towards the centrifuge tube. The lil thing that scientists usually tuck into their lab coat pockets which is then forgotten until the next year…
He’d carry a 1.5mL marked as 1.5 with the tube interior frosted which turns into a 1.5mL marked as 1.7 in dreams.

BACKROOMS!! I couldn’t have been the only one to immediately think of the dreamscape when the backrooms’ existence was revealed.
A place conjured from memory and existing information, entities who resemble a loved one, the insides of still lifes… guys.
Kane’s use of the concept of limbo was especially remarkable and really ties everything together so freaking nicely. I could go on about these two movies forever.
