Perseverance just landed on Mars today!
I imagine that the Moon and Mars aren't too happy about all the stuff we leave on and around them!
Just thought I'd play with the art style a bit. I’m not too sure if I like the flat design or something with actually line art more or not. I think the lines could stand to be less thick and chaotic.
Such a neat planet, such an unfortunate name!
It's been a little over two years since New Horizons flew past Arrokoth! Wow!
This was supposed to come out on the 20th. I delayed it because I couldn't come up with a good punchline. Eventually I just decided to put it out there just because. So, have a bonus comic this week!
We think Saturn's rings formed when a moon around the size of Mimas was shredded by tidal forces from its parent planet. By contrast, the rings on the other giant planets likely formed from the collision of small moons and asteroid impacts on the remaining ones.
Triton, Neptune's biggest moon is slowly spiraling inward towards the planet due to tidal deceleration. Assuming it doesn't get ejected before then or impacts before Neptune's gravity can break it apart, it should become quite the ring system!
There was a total solar eclipse in South America a few days ago! Did you get to see it?
Come on Pluto, it’s time to move on!
Mercury's got a disproportionately large iron core. We think this is due to an impact with a smaller planetoid that happened billions of years ago, which stripped off most of its mantle. Had this not've happened, it would would be much larger today.
Interestingly, yet unsurprisingly, most (if not all) of Jupiter's outer moons were captured by it's gravitational influence!
Oh, Jupiter!
