with the release of 50 shades of grey inching closer to us ive been seeing people criticize the book—which in itself is not a bad thing—but the complaint ive seen the most is about bdsm being misrepresented. it just seems like such an immaterial thing to complain about when christian grey is literally an abusive stalker and it’s being portrayed in a light that makes it not only seem benevolent but desirable? but like, defend the kinks tho I guess

these two complaints are very related and i feel like more people talk about both these issues at once. the reason everyone is talking about bdsm being misrepresented is because christian grey is abusive which makes bdsm look like abuse.
