In my POP view, 1950's France Jieldé lamp is hands down King of funky lighting. A simple, robust and adaptable lamp suitable for heavy duty work station application through to a bedside reading lamp. The colours are POPtastic, however the vintage metals holds the 1950's humble industrial appeal, you can source these through ebay with a whopping price tag.

Copper POP

I have previously posted about my love affair with a POP of gold in the home. I have since evolved and now its all about the copper- I'm fickle I know.

The bright and warm tone adds a classic appeal and has been used in architecture for centuries. Contemporary pendant lighting or an accent screen is the perfect application to embrace the copper trend without going OTT.

This week in Poppette land, I have been inspired by bringing the outdoors to the indoors. Nothing more uplifting than being surrounded by organic living, breathing foliage.

A few POPtips so you get my drift-

Image 1: Rustic crates with planted herbs to create a simple coffee table focal point

Image 2: Cute ceramic wall planters from West Elm, turns staghorn ferns into living art

Image 3: Decking slats done beautifully, with contrasting white brick wall and natural timber furniture pieces. Namaste.

Image 4: If you have no luck keeping plants alive, fake it I say. I am a huge of palm wallpaper

Image 5: Perfect for a cafe design. Make note of the old school barstools with the recycled painted slats- love.

I have been following Mr Jason Grant, Syd based stylist and author on Instagram over the past few months... totally hooked. Boy does this dude know how to pull together an eclectic mix of old, new, junk, classics, personal bits and pieces into a unique package which effortlessly just works.

I have just placed order for his book- A Place Called Home, it better hurry up and arrive in Singapore as I can't wait for some bedtime interior porn.

I am a little obsessed with the new store CB2! Not only it's POPtastic homewares, furniture and bits and pieces available, but also the store styling is tweaked for pure home decor addicts (like myself) delight. Located on the 2nd floor of probably the last remaining shophouse on Orchard Rd, the space is filled with an influx of natural light and exposed brick work. Makes you want to spend all day dreaming of your next decorating project. I am a fan of the owls. Check it out, oh and prices are great! www.cb2.com

Fun Stairs

I had to 'call a friend' for today's post inspiration (thanks Penny). Once I got started sourcing images from Pinterest on this topic, I realised how easy it is to elevate a space by injecting a playful angle to a set of stairs. You certainly would have a spring in your step approaching these fun stairs.

This week in my Design Icon diary planner (great pressie Mum), the Marshmallow sofa features, hence my inspiration for today.

The Marshmallow sofa always make me smile, and turning heads since 1956 designed by George Nelson, it has the POP factor. Surprisingly comfy the sofa is construction of 18 marshmallow cushions and joined by a steel structure to create a floating appearance. It holds POPart qualities from the 1960's and injects a fun aspect to a space.
