Superhero Mira x Supervillan Rumi x Civilian friend Zoey.
Hear me out.
Ok so I’m picturing Rumi, kidnapped by the most powerful cabal in the world which is headed by Gwi-ma, was raised to be a weapon. She killed many people, (only individuals), but many of them were innocent. She was controlled for years by a specialty chip in the back of her head + her handler Jinu constantly reinforcing that this is the only worthwhile thing she will do with her life.
Then one day while out in a thunderstorm Rumi is fighting to kill a surprisingly resilient Civilian. (The civilian is Zoey, she has powers. Basically super durability, water breathing, animal communication. Think Aquaman but better.) Zoey manages to shove Rumi off the building their on and watches in shock as she floats up on a string made of light… before getting hit by three lighting bolts at the same time.
Yeah, apparently energy chords can attract electricity, who knew?
Anyways, Rumi drops to the ground unconscious and with fresh lighting scars all over her body. Zoey, bless her, feels bad for this supervillain and takes her back to her apartment, careful to avoid letting her roommate, Mira, see her.
Rumi and Mira in this case have clashed a couple times. Mira can control thermal and kinetic energy, and uses it to freeze villains, melt machinery, and occasionally punch someone really, really hard. Rumi, using her coalesced energy strings into a sword shape, can stop her punches. They do not get along very well.
Anyways! Rumi ends up waking up supremely confused to find cuffs on her while in a shockingly comfy ocean themed bed. She snaps the chain (on accident) and stumbles off the bed and onto the floor. Yeah… apparently getting struck by over 15 billion Jules of energy kinda messed you up a little. The only reason she’s alive at all is due to her natural resistance to electricity as a whole, but it still hurt.
Zoey comes sprinting back into the room to find a groaning Rumi, who’s scratching at the back of her neck more and more aggressively. Before she can stop it, Rumi’s fingers tear into the flesh back there and rip out a small metal chip, connected to a wire that was formerly tied to her spine. (It got fried so hard it partially melted).
Zoey is horrified, Rumi is relieved to finally be free of Gwi-ma’s voice, and Mira is asleep on the couch. Rumi finally notices the girl she was trying to kill earlier staring at her in horror, and so Rumi apologizes before passing out from the pain again.
With a curse, Zoey gets her back onto the bed and bandages the back of her neck as best she can. She isn’t quite sure what to think of it all, but she has some suspicious based off the chip Rumi removed from her neck. The chip that’s now glowing red.
With a yelp, Zoey snatched it and chucked it out her window, watching it sail down towards the street below before exploding. It didn’t damage any buildings but it is extremely loud.
That wakes Mira up, who comes sprinting into Zoey’s room ready to throw down with whichever villain discovered her identity. She freezes when she sees Rumi, her greatest enemy, laying unconscious and on her stomach on Zoey’s bed. Zoey, for her part, is standing in front of Rumi, hand held up to Mira as she continues to apply the last bandage.
Mira doesn’t relax, instead asking why a supervillain is in their home. Zoey stammers out that she’s pretty sure Rumi has been getting controlled under threat of death by someone and she isn’t actually a villain, just someone in a bad situation.
At Mira’s disbelieving look, Zoey pulls up the footage (yes, she has a camera she set up to watch Rumi in case something happened) and showed Mira what took place moments ago.
Mira is conflicted, half believing it to be some kind of trick. Rumi chooses that moment to wake up, groaning. She freezes when she sees Mira, then try’s to run towards the open window.
She did not remember she is still half dead, and ends up faceplanting on the carpet instead. At Mira’s questioning look, Zoey says she got hit by three lighting bolts at once, which is probably how that chip got fried.
Mira stalks over, slowing in confusion at the panicked way Rumi scrambles to get away from her. She stops when Rumi’s back hits the wall, and she tries to summon an energy shield, but instead all that appears is a single thin line that puttered out quickly.
Rumi and Mira were both a little surprised by this, but Nira decided that it doesn’t matter. She goes to grab Rumi, but Zoey yanks her back. (Which, how??? Zoey is a twig! Mira is a big hero! How is she able to just yank her back????) Rumi is similarly confused but for a different reason. She asks Zoey why she’s protecting her and Zoey says it’s because she looked scared.
Rumi isn’t sure what to say to that, so she doesn’t say anything at all. Mira says that of course Rumi is scared, she finally has to face justice for what she did. Rumi hesitantly asks what it is that she did, because she can’t quite remember.
(The chip also worked as a way for Gwi-ma to read and change Rumi’s memory. He took great pleasure in erasing Rumi’s memory’s and making her think each kill was her first so she’d break down sobbing later.)
Eventually, Zoey managed to convince Mira to take Rumi under her wing in a kind of mentorship style deal. They rebrand Rumi, and make her a new suit (for when she’s fully recovered) during which her memory’s start trickling back in. She doesn’t remember her kills (yet) but does remember a man named Gwi-ma laughing at her as he put the chip in her head.
Mira still thinks this is some elaborate prank, but her heroic instinct is whispering at her to try and rehabilitate this villain.
Cue the emergence of a new hero, Honmoon, guardian of light. (It’s just a happy coincidence that the Demon, the killer of shadows, vanished right around then.)
Just thought this would be a fun little au, plenty of angst as Rumi remembers exactly what she did before, Mira dealing with her past catching up to her (there’s a reason Zoey was targeted) and Zoey having to come up with increasingly ludicrous reasons why she can do what she can do.
She fell apart and i had to superglue her together and she s kind of ugly but
This is my first time using clay so i think it’s a win. BUT I WILL DEFINITELY BE REATTEMPTING ANOTJER DAY. i will make the ultimate Joey monkey. One. day.
