there have already been several theories that raven can sense when someone she's bonded to is in mortal danger. RWBY beyond even showed raven in the vacuo meeting room, probably finally motivated to help for once after finding out her daughter was dead.

and after all of that, i genuinely cannot wrap my head around the fact that no writer has sat down and written a story about how raven found out yang had died and what happened afterward while living in vacuo, considering she's most likely staying there with qrow.

i've only ever found one fic where raven arrives in vacuo and finds yang's grave, but the author stopped after chapter one in 2024 and never updated it again.

like, guys??

that conversation yang had with raven in the vault—the last time we ever saw raven in the show—probably changed her in so many ways. especially considering that in the volume 5 post-credit scene, we see her in bird form visiting the family cabin. after that, yang was probably the biggest reason raven started changing at all.

and it's not just raven. qrow finding out that the only two things left in his life that he still thought were worth fighting for had died, and somehow nobody has written a long, complex character-driven story about any of this?

i'm not even going to mention taiyang because considering the cct tower went down again after ruby's warning, and he probably wasn't staying at home with everything that was going on, nobody really had any way of knowing where he was to at least send him a letter updating him on everything.

anyway, if anyone has read or seen any fics that focus on this topic, please drop them in the comments. my desperate need to read something like this would be greatly appreciated!

I've got a hot take y'all aren't going to like, I mean I don't like it either but, commercials were kinda a good thing.

Now hang on and let me explain. watching TV as a kid you were forced to wait between 3-4 mins for the next episode of your show, and changing the channel only kinda worked because most kids shows went to commercial at the 11 and 28 minute mark. We were forced to sit and wait, sure we may have talked to our friends or smth, but we still had to wait.

These days with the attention span epidemic and how we are able to get hit after hit after hit of content we get upset at a thirty second ad on YouTube interrupting our video. Yes I am also guilty of this. I mean there's people who will scroll tiktok between matches of games like overwatch and fortnite while they wait for a new game. I saw one who said they do it while they wait to respawn. Which is crazy.

And like don't get me wrong, this isn't a defense of commercials or ads or any of that, they all fucking suck, but it's an interesting thing to think about. How far we've come and what we've lost to the point we can't sit still for two minutes without scrolling on our phones while we wait.

Go outside and stare at the grass, look at the colors of the trees, hear the birds, leave your phone inside and just be bored. It's healthy and a skill people need to have.

this morning i noticed my cat was freaking out more than usual. he's an anxious kitty (he'd been a stray for 3 years when we got him, then we had two moves with a very rough period in between). usually he has a routine that i do with him that helps him calm down but today it just wasn't working and i couldn't figure out why he was so stressed out. he kept bapping me on the head and waking me up and running around and eventually i realized what the issue was.

on monday i had a skin biopsy that left a pretty sizeable wound. yesterday i spent pretty much all day feeling like shit and laying around, and today i was supposed to clean it and change the dressing. he was panicking because he could smell the wound, saw me laying in bed all day, and he wasn't sure if i was okay. i got up, and as i removed the old bandage he started WAILING. just completely losing it when he saw it. he clearly understood that something like that wasn't good. i made sure he didn't touch it, but i let him smell me and see that i was okay, and he watched me clean and re-bandage it and pretty much the second it was done he immediately calmed down.

ten minutes later and he's purring and snuggly and 'guarding me' from such scary things as Loud Noise Outside and Blanket Moving Weird. this cat is better at taking care of me than i am some days.
